On this day, I visited Yasu in Sapporo for dinner! This restaurant is said to have been inspired by the owner of a sushi restaurant in Shin Sapporo where they trained and later opened their own restaurant. The atmosphere inside the restaurant felt familiar, possibly because it resembled the Shin Sapporo location where they trained. I visited with my mother, and around 6 pm, there was one regular customer at the counter. I sat at the counter and ordered the Yokozuna Sushi (premium sushi) for 1800 yen, while my mother ordered one piece each of her favorite toppings with smaller portions of rice. My Yokozuna sushi included tuna, flounder, surf clam, scallop, salmon, sweet shrimp, salmon roe, sea urchin, and red salmon. The sushi looked light without much fat but had a delicious umami flavor. The scallop was from Saroma and had a good thickness to it. The rice was perfectly balanced and served warm, which I liked. Additionally, I ordered the whelk and horse mackerel, which were prepared fresh with a crunchy texture and a taste of the sea. The horse mackerel was also opened and garnished with freshly chopped green onions, adding a spicy accent that was delightful. The miso soup had a rich flavor from the shrimp head broth, which was delicious. Oh, and if you want chawanmushi, you can request it in advance. As for my mother, she enjoyed the whelk, sweet shrimp, salmon roe (twice), flying fish roe, surf clam, squid, crab, scallop, and kappamaki, happily exclaiming "delicious" as she ate more varieties than usual. I sometimes take her to conveyor belt sushi restaurants, but since each plate has two pieces, she can't finish everything, so I end up eating the leftovers (I eat anything). My mother can't eat as much, so it's nice to enjoy one piece at a time while chatting with the owner. The vinegar seasoning was similar to the sushi restaurant in Shin Sapporo, so it was a familiar taste rather than delicious (no offense). The bill was around 5000 yen, and I got change back, maybe because we didn't drink alcohol. The friendly owner makes it feel like a casual neighborhood restaurant where locals can easily come in (takeout is also available). It's a sushi restaurant with a down-to-earth atmosphere located in a residential area. Thank you for the meal!
