On December 22, 2021, tonight I finally visited a sushi restaurant that I had been curious about for a long time. The place is called "Sushidokoro Yasu" and it is located near Green Park on the southeast side, along Koen Higashi Street. The exterior is a two-story cream-colored house, while the interior is small but very clean and stylish. They have a large counter with 7 seats and a raised table seating area for 16 people (used for banquets today). I made a reservation for 6:00 PM and ordered the following items: - Yasu Roll: 2,200 yen (tax included) - Tekka Maki (Toro): 750 yen (tax included) - Negi Saba Maki: 500 yen (tax included) - O-toshi (appetizer) - Alcohol - Complimentary salad The vinegar rice was slightly warm with a slightly strong vinegar flavor, and the fish was fresh and very delicious. It's a bit disappointing that there was no Uni (sea urchin) in the sushi, but overall it was very tasty. The Toro was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The chef and the hostess were friendly and kind, making the dining experience very pleasant. Since the raised seating area was fully booked for a big banquet, I left promptly after finishing my meal. I will definitely come back to enjoy their sushi again. Thank you for the delicious meal, Sushidokoro Yasu! Sushidokoro Yasu - Opening hours: 16:00-22:00 - Closed on Mondays

During my solo trip in Hokkaido, I casually entered this restaurant. The couple and their son were very friendly, and the sushi and other dishes were delicious and skillfully prepared. I would love to visit again. It's a bit far from Fukui though! ^^;

On this day, I visited Yasu in Sapporo for dinner! This restaurant is said to have been inspired by the owner of a sushi restaurant in Shin Sapporo where they trained and later opened their own restaurant. The atmosphere inside the restaurant felt familiar, possibly because it resembled the Shin Sapporo location where they trained. I visited with my mother, and around 6 pm, there was one regular customer at the counter. I sat at the counter and ordered the Yokozuna Sushi (premium sushi) for 1800 yen, while my mother ordered one piece each of her favorite toppings with smaller portions of rice. My Yokozuna sushi included tuna, flounder, surf clam, scallop, salmon, sweet shrimp, salmon roe, sea urchin, and red salmon. The sushi looked light without much fat but had a delicious umami flavor. The scallop was from Saroma and had a good thickness to it. The rice was perfectly balanced and served warm, which I liked. Additionally, I ordered the whelk and horse mackerel, which were prepared fresh with a crunchy texture and a taste of the sea. The horse mackerel was also opened and garnished with freshly chopped green onions, adding a spicy accent that was delightful. The miso soup had a rich flavor from the shrimp head broth, which was delicious. Oh, and if you want chawanmushi, you can request it in advance. As for my mother, she enjoyed the whelk, sweet shrimp, salmon roe (twice), flying fish roe, surf clam, squid, crab, scallop, and kappamaki, happily exclaiming "delicious" as she ate more varieties than usual. I sometimes take her to conveyor belt sushi restaurants, but since each plate has two pieces, she can't finish everything, so I end up eating the leftovers (I eat anything). My mother can't eat as much, so it's nice to enjoy one piece at a time while chatting with the owner. The vinegar seasoning was similar to the sushi restaurant in Shin Sapporo, so it was a familiar taste rather than delicious (no offense). The bill was around 5000 yen, and I got change back, maybe because we didn't drink alcohol. The friendly owner makes it feel like a casual neighborhood restaurant where locals can easily come in (takeout is also available). It's a sushi restaurant with a down-to-earth atmosphere located in a residential area. Thank you for the meal!

The first time I went there was over 20 years ago, and I remember being quite impressed at the time. After many years, I visited again. The sashimi assortment included turban shell, tuna, mantis shrimp, shrimp, sea urchin, white fish, scallop, and more, which was very enjoyable. You can taste fresh ingredients. The premium sushi with crab, shrimp, and surf clam was delicious. (The medium fatty tuna was just okay.) We always order the fresh roll when we come to a sushi restaurant. It is a roll that allows you to taste seafood from the northern region all at once. We also enjoyed rolls like natto and negitoro. If they used better quality medium fatty tuna, it would be a 4.5-star rating... But there is no doubt that it is delicious sushi. This sushi restaurant is located in a residential area.

I went to this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. I ordered some drinks and looked at the sushi case, but couldn't find anything I really liked. So I had some fresh horsehair crab sashimi and Toro Tekka as a snack while enjoying my drinks. I had about 3 sake cups and then got some scallops, surf clams, white fish (I think it was halibut), and spot prawns as sushi. I wish there were more variety of sushi toppings though. I was the only customer sitting at the counter, besides some regulars who seemed to own the place. Is this how sushi restaurants in the outskirts of Obihiro are like? Maybe even in the city too. As for the taste of the sushi, I can't really remember much. The scallops, horsehair crab, and surf clams were decent. I bought an Eight Continent Roll as a souvenir, but my family wasn't too thrilled about it. The bill was reasonable, so that's a plus.

I visited this restaurant on the last night of my trip to Eastern Hokkaido. I had been disappointed with the food at other places the previous days, so I was hoping for a good meal here. I ordered the top tier sushi set called "Hasshu Sushi" for 2,100 yen, which included tuna, salmon, scallop, scallop, sweet shrimp, crab, salmon roe, sea urchin, and amberjack. Even though Obihiro is not located by the sea, the quality of the sushi was excellent. The sushi pieces were large compared to those in Honshu, but the balance between the fish and rice was perfect. The miso soup with shrimp head was delicious. I also enjoyed some drinks and ordered grilled flounder (amazing), mackerel sashimi (also amazing), minke whale sashimi (light), and sweet scallops. We had two servings of sushi, grilled dish, sashimi, drinks, and it all came to 10,000 yen. I had initially thought I wouldn't come back to Eastern Hokkaido, but this restaurant truly saved the day with its delicious sushi that you can't find in Tokyo. Note: I couldn't try the Hasshu Maki (1,900 yen) this time, but it looked delicious too.

This was the first time I ate sushi at a counter. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, and I have visited several times. The prices don't seem too high. My favorite sushi is the red tuna. When I order takeout, I always get the "Tekkamaki."

This place has also become a "long-established" restaurant. When it first opened, it gained a reputation for having very delicious sushi with fresh ingredients, competing with the long-established restaurants in the city center, and it was quite crowded. It was indeed delicious. I went there for the first time in a long while last year. I didn't feel as impressed as I did in the past. However, it's not like it's not tasty. The local specialty "Nama Tamaki" is still popular.
