I visited "Wakaba" in Kitano Umaimon Street in Obihiro City, Hokkaido with someone I met through work. The food was delicious no matter what we ordered, and the presentation was beautiful. I especially recommend the skewered kombu with children and daikon and tongue. As for drinks, I tried the staff-recommended sake and "ride?" which were both incredibly delicious. I even bought two bottles of "ride?" online during my flight back. The exterior and interior of the restaurant show signs of aging, but the kitchen is very clean! I usually eat and drink in Tokyo, so I was surprised by the bill, which was similar to what I would pay at a typical teppanyaki or yakiniku restaurant. Since we didn't drink much this time, I wonder if they could lower the prices a bit more!

Popular restaurant on the delicious food street ✭ It's always crowded, but there were only about 3 groups there probably because it was a very hot day. I was able to get in and have a beer! It took a while for the food I ordered to come out because the owner is running the place alone. I ordered skewers, oden, and stuffed bell peppers, about 5 dishes in total, and it took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. They were pretty quick with the drinks though, which was good. I wanted to order more, but I didn't have enough time so I couldn't add anything else. Sorry m(_ _)m

I wandered into Umaimon Street and impulsively tried oden and dashi-wari because it was cold and rainy outside. The flavors seeped into my body. The lemon sour at Wakaba was not too sweet and delicious. It was comfortable to drink alone. Next time I come to Obihiro, I want to visit Short Hope and Highlight, which are part of the same group. Thank you for the meal.

The appearance of the restaurant is filled with a Showa era vibe, but the cuisine is surprisingly stylish with creative oden and tempura skewers. The appetizer of chicken was a nice touch. Ordered the following: oden with hanpen and Honma's cheese, tempura skewers with scallop tartare, and a kabosu beer. Although a bit pricey, everything was delicious. Interested in trying out other menu items as well.

Owner Yamamoto's third shop, Short Hope Highlight Wakaba, offers a mix of Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, with a focus on skewers and oden. While the name and lineup may suggest it's a spot for older men to relax, thanks to the handsome owner, the restaurant has a unique appeal that attracts a wide range of customers. Tonight, the popular North Umai Mon Street may become bustling with activity. Oh, the creative skewers and oden are delicious!

Now, onto the second restaurant. The first one is a post site NG that I have visited a few times, a place that serves deep-fried skewers and oden in the winter. As the title suggests, the Short Hope, Highlight's 3rd store has opened on the same delicious food street in the north. I ended up visiting a place called Wakaba, which serves both skewers and creative oden, following the oden theme. The location is recent, near the former Logi (Logi has moved within the same delicious food street). The interior of the restaurant has only counter seats, and there is a high percentage of young women present. I managed to grab the last available seat. Please note that there is a one drink minimum order policy per person. The cover charge is 500 yen (I was already quite drunk by this point). When I asked for drink recommendations, I was suggested the Dashi-wari (sake mixed with oden soup) priced at 580 yen. From the recommended oden section, I tried the daikon and beef tongue for 680 yen. From the deep-fried skewer section, I had the shiitake mushroom with Honma-san's cheese for 380 yen and pickled ginger for 180 yen. The cover charge of 500 yen included a dish of octopus and whelk salad. I was quite drunk and some time had passed before I wrote this, so my memory of the flavors is a bit hazy. The Dashi-wari had a strong sake flavor. The daikon and beef tongue were delicious, with the daikon being perfectly shaped and the beef tongue having a unique texture. The broth had a punch at first but developed a subtle and rich flavor. The pickled ginger tasted as expected, and the shiitake mushroom with cheese was flavorful. Although the creative oden is not cheap, the unique combinations were enjoyable, and I would like to try other dishes as well. I also ordered a strong lemon sour for 580 yen, which satisfied my alcohol cravings. It seems that the restaurant is still in its early stages, with the owner providing guidance on the flavors. This time, I focused on introducing the menu, so please excuse any mistakes. Thank you for the meal.
