Welcome. ---------- October 2016 ---------- Just a little off Higashi 8-jo Street is the "North 41-jo Kaikan," and behind that is this building that looks like it's been around since forever. The aged sliding doors might not work too well, but the L-shaped counter fits perfectly with the retro atmosphere of the Showa era. The owner and his wife are a calm and gentle couple, with 45 years of experience in this building. They have been running this place for 45 years, even before moving here. The menu is written on the wall, and when I asked for whiskey, they said they don't have any, so I had a shochu highball instead. To start, the lady was simmering some kasa-gore, a luxurious dish. The macaroni salad was simple yet delicious, with a slight crunch to the macaroni and a light mayo dressing with cucumbers and carrots. Of course, the lady makes everything by hand, including the "big pork, plump skin, and green onion meatballs." We chatted while listening to Showa era songs and watching TV. It's a place that is cherished by the locals. Here's to another half a century! Thank you for the meal. Tom Doc PC recommended.
