This month's third food adventure was at the restaurant "Kumagera," known for its dining and banquets, where I had the "Omuhoe Curry" for lunch. Kumagera's popular menu items include wagyu roast beef bowl and this curry! The curry is made using whey (whey) separated from milk when making the restaurant's original "cheese tofu." At first, the unique flavor of whey may catch your attention, but it quickly blends well with the right amount of spices. The rich yet mellow curry with a refreshing aftertaste is packed with umami. It pairs well with the half-cooked, fluffy omelet. The colorful deep-fried vegetables served on the side include potatoes, carrots, eggplant, bell peppers, and pumpkins. In addition to the whey curry, there are also options with tonkatsu, sausages, and shrimp (fried) on the menu. The presence of many foreign tourists can be inferred from the menu. The dining area at the counter was full, so we enjoyed our meal in a room called "Ishitei," which was built using stones that were stacked up when the students of Furano Juku were working in the fields. The exterior of the restaurant also features natural stones stacked up, with grape vines for wine covering the structure.

I visited this restaurant in Furano because it is said to be popular. I ordered the roast beef bowl and hot pot, but both were just okay. I found it strange why this place is popular. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice both outside and inside, but I was disappointed because I had high expectations.

Visited with 2 people around 18:00 on Sunday. There was quite a line, but we were able to get in after about 30 minutes. They offer roast beef bowl, curry, set meals, and hot pot dishes. Unfortunately, curry was sold out that day, so both of us ordered the roast beef bowl for 2,100 yen. You can add extra meat or upgrade to a larger portion of rice. The food was served promptly. The roast beef from Furano Wagyu was lightly seared and laid on top of the rice. It came with pickles and miso soup. You can enjoy the meat with wasabi soy sauce. The meat was quite marbled and tender. It was delicious, but there was more rice than meat, so opting for extra meat might be a good idea. However, those sensitive to fatty meat should be cautious. When we left, the restaurant was still very popular with a long line.

I arrived at the restaurant around 10:50 am on a regular weekday. There was a line of more than 10 people in front of me. Everyone was ordering roast beef bowls, but I was curious about the omurice, so I ordered that instead. The egg was soft and the curry was not very spicy, but had a good amount of spices in it. I finished it in no time. I thought maybe I should get the large size on days when I'm really hungry. If I have the chance to go again, I'd like to try the roast beef bowl.

Kumagera is a large woodpecker bird. I ordered the Cheese Tofu and Wagyu Roast Beef bowl. The Cheese Tofu arrived first and I enjoyed it with a beer. Then the Wagyu Roast Beef arrived, looking like a beautiful layer of fatty tuna. It was delicious, unlike any roast beef I've had before. The man at the table next to me was eating bear ginger yakitori, and I silently wished him luck as a fellow diner.

I wanted to go to a soup curry restaurant in Furano, but unfortunately it was closed. I found a delicious looking restaurant on Tabelog, so I decided to go there instead. There was a short wait in line, but we were able to get in fairly quickly. The roast beef bowl had a unique flavor that I had never tried before and it was very delicious. The cheese tofu was surprisingly light and easy to eat. There were many other tasty looking dishes on the menu, so I would like to visit again!

When it comes to Furano, there's no place like this. I visited for the Mountain Bandit Hot Pot and Roast Beef Bowl. To be honest, I had visited with my family on a trip when I was a child, and it's been a while since then. The Roast Beef Bowl had such a tender texture that it melted in my mouth, and the Mountain Bandit Hot Pot had a delicious broth that made me order extra rice. I hope they open a chain store in Osaka (lol).

I visited this place once when I was young. At that time, I ate hot pot... This time, I had a wagyu roast beef bowl with extra meat, while my husband had deer ginger stir-fry and wagyu tendon soup. The roast beef bowl looked amazing! It seems like everyone comes here for this dish. Personally, it was too rare for me (cries), but the melt-in-your-mouth texture was delicious. The deer ginger stir-fry was also tasty. However, the real star was the wagyu tendon soup! It had a rich broth and was incredibly delicious. We shared it, but next time I want to have one all to myself. We were seated promptly, despite it being a very popular restaurant, and the staff were friendly and provided great service. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered the Om Curry for 1500 yen and the Potato for 600 yen. I finally got to enjoy the famous Furano curry and I am satisfied! It was a bit spicy but the creamy Western-style Keema curry was undeniably delicious. It paired perfectly with the omelette, and all the vegetables, except for the eggplant which I don't like, were tasty too! It seems like a restaurant with photos from the northern country and a connection to Kunihiko Kuramoto.

The owner of the restaurant has packed the charm of Furano into the building, interior, and decor. The menu looks delicious with a variety of options. I couldn't resist trying the Wagyu roast beef bowl for 2,100 yen, the Omuhoe curry for 1,500 yen, and the cheese tofu for 600 yen. The roast beef was different from what I expected - thinly sliced Wagyu beef seared quickly to give it a crispy, charcoal-like aroma. The meat melts in your mouth as soon as you take a bite, it's truly amazing. Adding a bit of wasabi really brings out the sweetness of the meat. The cheese tofu, made in-house, is softer than mozzarella with a delicate milk flavor and richness. It's also delicious. The curry, made using whey from making the cheese tofu, is a popular dish at the restaurant. It's served over white rice with a soft omelet on top, along with fried or sautéed vegetables. The colorful presentation and spicy aroma will definitely whet your appetite. The curry is cooked slowly, resulting in a rich and flavorful taste. It's mildly spicy, more on the sweeter side of medium. I found myself gulping it down like a drink. Despite the line, the service is quite fast. They also have a dedicated parking lot, so I highly recommend this place. (There is also a free municipal parking lot in front of the station)

This area is the bustling downtown of Furano with many popular restaurants that always have long lines. This time, I was overwhelmed by the line at the famous hamburger joint and ended up coming here instead. It's been almost 20 years since I last visited. I remember the entrance, but it used to be at night. There were about 15 people waiting, but the turnover was quick. I got in after about 20 minutes, but finding a parking spot was a bit challenging. The difference in lunch options wasn't clear from the menu, but the roast beef bowl, which everyone seems to love, arrived in just 10 minutes. I picked up the wasabi on top of the bowl, mixed it into the sauce, and poured it all over. Unlike other places that serve the wasabi and sauce separately, having the green in the middle of the bowl looked visually appealing. The tender beef, almost like it was cooked sous vide, paired well with the warm rice, surprisingly fitting for Japanese taste. I finished it in no time and now it's time to move on to the afternoon activity.

Sunday during the Obon holiday, we left our accommodation in Furano for dinner. We decided to go to Kumagera, a Japanese restaurant with relatively high ratings on Tabelog, located about a 5-minute walk from Furano Station. We arrived around 7 pm and had to wait for about 15 minutes before being seated. Although the roast beef bowl is famous here, we opted for more Hokkaido-like dishes and ordered the following: mountain vegetable hotpot, grilled salmon with butter, scallop sashimi, and corn. We also had draft beer and a glass of white wine (Furano wine). The hotpot contained deer, duck, and chicken, and was quite delicious with slightly rich seasoning. The sashimi was average, similar to what you would find at a typical izakaya. Hmm, maybe the roast beef bowl would have been a better choice after all. When it came time to pay, we had to wait in line as the elderly lady at the register manually calculated each item on the bill, causing a bit of a delay. In the end, we paid around 7,000 yen for two people, and the overall impression was that the food was decent for the price.

I visited in the early evening on a weekday and was seated right away without having to wait in line. The cheese tofu and wagyu roast beef bowl that I had decided to eat beforehand were both delicious as I had heard, and I was very satisfied! I definitely want to visit again when I go to Furano!

I've been eating bear meat too much and my appetite is still there... Should I eat near the hotel? I hesitated, but since I came all this way, I decided to go for the roast beef bowl I was aiming for. It was delicious! I devoured the Wagyu roast beef bowl (2,100 yen) in no time. This was really tasty. Thank you for the meal! 0167-39-2345, 3-22 Hinode-cho, Furano City, Hokkaido.

When you come to Furano, this is a must-visit place! I have been coming here for almost 20 years now, and I believe there is no other place like this in the whole country. The Wagyu roast beef bowl here is simply amazing - the meat melts in your mouth the moment you take a bite. I can confidently say that I come to Furano just to eat this delicious beef. I will definitely come back again. #Hokkaido #Furano #Kumagera #WagyuRoastBeefBowl #FoodPorn #Foodstagram #Tabelog

Decided to visit Furano during my trip and came across the famous Wagyu roast beef. It was peak time around 12 o'clock, but luckily we were able to enter without waiting in line. We ordered the Wagyu roast beef for 2,100 yen and the cheese tofu for 600 yen. The Wagyu roast beef was so tender and melted in my mouth, spreading a feeling of happiness with every bite. The cheese tofu was a unique dish that tasted like tofu but had a cheesy flavor. I wish I could have bought some to take home! Although it was our first day of the trip and we couldn't bring any, it would have been a perfect snack with drinks. Many customers were also ordering curry, which smelled delicious, but I resisted the temptation. There were many other tempting menu items as well. Maybe it would be nice to visit in the evening instead of lunchtime! By the time we left, there were 6-7 people waiting in line outside. It might have been a matter of timing, but even if we had to wait, the satisfaction of eating there was worth it. Thank you for the wonderful meal! (^^)

Eating in Furano is really tough. Just like when I came three months ago, this time too I fell victim to Tabelog (a popular restaurant review site). I chose a place with relatively high ratings, but it was still disappointing. However, in front of Furano Station, there were no competing eateries and a long line had formed. I had high hopes, but it wasn't cheap and the food seemed like something you could get anywhere, so I wondered why people were waiting in line. It wasn't an izakaya or a teishokuya, making it difficult to decide what to order. It seems like people staying in accommodations without dinner included are gathering here because there are no other options nearby. If there were competing restaurants, it seems like it would be easy to attract customers.

I recommend the beef bowl over the curry here. I have been here about 15 times in the past. Every time I visit Furano, I make sure to stop by. I have probably tried almost all the menu items. The curry is famous but just average. I recommend the beef bowl and hot pot dishes. Especially the beef bowl. The only issue is the long lines. And you have to stand and wait on the spot. It's inefficient. Lately, there are many foreigners as well. The sukiyaki looks really delicious.

Every time I come to Furano, I always try to stop by this place, but the long line always made me give up and go back. However, this time I decided to wait in line since I had some time. Surprisingly, the line of about 20 people moved pretty quickly, only about 20 minutes. I ordered the recommended Wagyu roast beef bowl with extra meat, while my husband, who doesn't like raw meat, ordered the premium loin cutlet set and cheese tofu. The Wagyu roast beef bowl with extra meat cost 2800 yen, which is quite pricey. When it was brought to our table, I was surprised by how hot the bowl was... I realized that the heat from the rice was cooking the meat. The meat, which was almost raw at first, started to cook and change color. It was very tender, sweet, and delicious, but I got a bit tired of it halfway through. (At least that's how I felt...) As for my husband's premium loin cutlet, I wondered what made it "premium." Was it the size? It didn't feel particularly special, so I thought 1600 yen might be a bit expensive. I had always wanted to try Kumagera, and I'm glad I finally did. Thank you for the meal.

On the first day of the three-day weekend, I was prepared to wait in line for a long time at this famous restaurant, but surprisingly I only waited for about 30 minutes. The turnover rate must be good! Although I was interested in various menu items, I ended up ordering the most popular roast beef bowl in regular size. I was impressed after taking the first bite... The concept of roast beef was completely overturned, with the meat melting in my mouth and a deliciously charred aroma. It was a taste I had never experienced before. I definitely understand why there would be a line for this!

I saw a photo of this roast beef bowl in a review and decided to go try it. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere with stacked stones inside. It was very clean and had a good vibe. The roast beef bowl was delicious, and I wish I had ordered the large size. It truly lived up to its popularity.
