It was at the "Live Squid Fishing Area" located in the market near Hakodate Station, just a few minutes away. The squid was incredibly fresh and delicious! Of course, I chose alcohol over rice, but I had to buy it nearby since they didn't have it at the fishing area. I also got some scallops, a Hokkaido specialty, which were cheap and tasty. There were so many other things I wanted to eat, but I already had the next restaurant planned out. I shed a tear, drank some more beer, and headed to the "Hakodate Morning Market Mini Aquarium." It's a small aquarium right next door, but the snacks there looked so appetizing! While there were no colorful fish, the sight of the food made my mouth water. It's a fun aquarium to visit, so I recommend it! Service: Excellent, Food: Excellent, Value for money: Excellent.

In front of the shop, the menu is displayed, such as Hakodate fresh seafood bowl, sea urchin and egg on rice, mussels, scallops, scallops, oysters, grilled cod roe, sea urchin bowl, crab bowl... It was decided that the staff will prepare and serve sea squirt. We enjoyed it with soy sauce and wasabi. It was a bit bitter! The texture is crunchy. It seems like it's best to have just a little as a side dish for sake. Next time, we plan to have grilled scallops.

Hakodate Morning Market is a popular tourist spot. I visited the market in the morning, already full from the hotel breakfast. I came across a shop selling freshly grilled seafood, and the grilled scallops looked delicious, so I couldn't resist buying them. It was a set with Sapporo Classic beer for 1100 yen, a great deal. I sat at a free table, enjoyed the freshly grilled scallops, and sipped on the Sapporo Classic. It was a delightful experience, indulging in delicious snacks and beer early in the morning. The staff at the shop were very friendly and their smiles added to the taste. I had a great time at the tasty morning market.

Hakodate morning market. I felt like having some seafood, so I went to the market inside the Ekini Ichiba building. There are many individual shops inside the building. You can buy food from your favorite shop and eat in the open space in the middle, like a food court. There were so many shops to choose from, but I decided to try Issekinicho Hakodate Asaichi store first! The smell of scallops drew me in, and I couldn't resist! So, I bought grilled scallops and sweet shrimp sashimi. My girlfriend loves sweet shrimp, and the one I got was huge! The texture was firm and bouncy! The scallops were still fresh, slightly rare in the middle. The flavor was intense and delicious! I'm sorry... the color in the photos doesn't do justice to the food. The sweet shrimp had a strong sweetness and richness to it! I feel like having some alcohol from the morning~ Hakodate truly is a treasure trove of seafood. It was fun to buy a little bit of everything and enjoy it. I'm fully enjoying Hakodate from the morning!

After enjoying squid fishing, I felt like having a beer with fresh squid. At a shop behind the squid market, they had fresh shellfish and fish for grilling displayed outside. They offered to prepare a large surf clam for 900 yen and bring it to the table. A medium-sized beer cost 500 yen. As I enjoyed the beer with the squid, the surf clam arrived. It was fresh and delicious with a hint of the sea. A regular customer recommended the fresh oysters, but this time I stuck with squid, surf clam, and beer! However, the oysters arrived, courtesy of the regular customer. They were creamy and refreshing, and I heard that this shop is known for its unique side dishes. Next time I visit, I definitely want to try those delicacies. The staff were all friendly and energetic. It was a great day where I realized that good shops attract good regular customers.

The location within the morning market can be found on the official website. The selection of items is limited, but they have fresh, grilled, and bottled products that may catch your eye. 1. Sea urchin (\1,500 each) - Large orange Ezo Bafun sea urchin. Big in size! The taste is decent. It's towards the end of the season. 2. Scallop (\1,600 each) - Another big item! However, the price is even higher! The taste is excellent. 3. Oyster (\600 each) - Medium-sized oysters. Mild taste. It's the transition period between "rock" and "true" oysters. Grilled might have been better. The pricing is on the expensive side. Even tourists from Taiwan seem to think so.
