Wandering new curry mania / rookie ramen mania, a solo middle-aged man. This is a memo-like review from the old man. If you want concise information about the restaurant and food, please move on to other people's reviews around here. Feeling a bit settled after impulsively deciding to go on a "pork cutlet tour" this time. So, I decided to aim for a curry restaurant a little further away. On this day, unfortunately, it was cloudy. The temperature was around 15°C. Not too cold, not too warm. But it was unusually calm for "the windy city/Sapporo". I decided to stretch my legs a bit by bike. It's in Chuo Ward, just next door. Even though it's Chuo Ward, if you cross the Toyohira River (it becomes Shiroishi Ward), it's around there. Enough with the chatter. I'll avoid the crowded streets and head through the city. I checked the candidate shops around the factory area before heading to Minami Ichijo Street where the restaurant is located. The place is Minami 1-jo Higashi 6-chome in Chuo Ward. It's a slightly older MS 1st floor street shop. I arrived a little before 13:00 (Sunday). There was a solo female customer, a young couple, a group of two men, and a group of two women. Later, a middle-aged couple and a solo male customer arrived. Seems like quite a popular place. Good, good! Inside the shop, there are 3 counter seats facing the kitchen, 1 table for 2 people, and 4 tables for 4 people. One of the 4-person tables had a sofa on one side. Unusual. There's hand sanitizer at the entrance. There are partitions at the counter seats. That's good. There were no partitions at the table seats, I think. The name of the restaurant is "Cancun". Is it related to Mexico's "Cancun"? Hmm, it's a bit "Central/South American?/Caribbean?" inside the shop (laughs). I can't say for sure, but... There are rows of "liquor bottles". Limited? There is an image of a "mysterious masked man" on the card introducing the limited additional menu. I remember seeing that "Masked Man" is super popular in Mexican pro wrestling. There is a drawing of "Cactus and Sun" on the grand menu, and alcohol like "Corona" and "Tequila". There must be something special about it. But there's no "Mexican" feel in the food menu. Well, supply issues may come up. Now then, what should I order? Maybe I'll add something to the vegetable dish... Oh, I remember, there's a limited addition menu of "Pork Cutlet & Veggie". It might be a bit more cost-effective than ordering them separately. The types and amounts of vegetables may be reduced, but that's okay. Pork Cutlet & Vegetable Curry - Level 3 Spicy (spicy) - Rice Large (350g) Garlic soup, including tax 1485 yen (1375 yen + 110 yen). I was thinking of going with the original soup, but this time I felt like having something a bit stronger. The dish arrived about 15 minutes after ordering. Oh! There seems to be quite a lot of vegetables. Good. - Potato: Fried potato style. Strong flavor. - Carrot: Quarter cut. Slightly sweet. - Cabbage: Boiled to leave a good crunch. - Shimeji Mushroom: Large and crispy. Mild fragrance. - Lotus Root: Crispy and crunchy. - Pumpkin: Thin and slightly sweet. - Bell Pepper: Perfectly fried. Sweetness. (Note) - Eggplant: Large half. Soft and mushy. - Okra: Crunchy and slimy. - Paprika: Perfectly fried. Sweetness. (Note) - Mushroom: Crispy and firm. Surprisingly included. - Baby Corn: Crunchy with a corn aroma. - Green Pepper: Perfectly fried. Bitterness. Now, a spoonful of soup. Ah, a comforting taste. It has umami and richness, a classic soup. The garlic contributes solidly to enhancing the flavor without being overpowering. Delicious!
