Located near Cape Soya, this scallop ramen shop offers a delicious Scallop Ramen with a strong scallop flavor in the soup. It tastes even better on a cold day. In addition to ramen, they also serve Scallop Curry, and many customers order a combination of ramen and half curry. You can purchase your meal ticket from a ticket vending machine, and they accept credit cards, which is convenient.

The menu only offers scallop ramen or scallop curry. Both were delicious! The curry had a lot of scallops in it. The ramen had a clear soup with plenty of umami flavor, very tasty. The restaurant was quite spacious. The staff were a bit reserved, some might say lacking energy. The kitchen staff were more lively and greeted us. Both ramen and curry, as well as souvenirs, were purchased through a ticket machine, which was a bit of a hassle. Being able to pay with QR code was convenient though.

My partner wanted to go to this restaurant at the northernmost tip of the main island. They serve ramen with scallop broth, which was light and delicious. Mixing rice into the ramen made it even more appetizing, and I could have eaten it endlessly. The restaurant has a stylish and lovely atmosphere. I thought it would be nice if they had stickers. My partner rated it 3.8 out of 5.

There is a shop on top of a hill in front of Cape Soya. During the summer, it is crowded with bikers and tourists. From Cape Soya, you can see Sakhalin. If the shop is full, you need to register inside (enter your license plate if you came by car) and wait. The menu has two options: ramen (1000 yen) or scallop curry. Bikers seem to enjoy both dishes. The soup is clear but the sweetness of the scallops spreads nicely, making it delicious. The scallops are used as a whole topping. The only downside is the noodles, as they tend to get soggy quickly. Making noodles in the northernmost climate is quite difficult, and there are no noodle factories nearby, so this may be the reason. I prefer noodles with more chewiness. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

On the 4th day of my trip to Hokkaido, I visited Cape Soya and the nearby Mamiya-do, the northernmost ramen shop in Japan. I tried their most popular scallop ramen. The soup was incredibly clear, with a strong saltiness and seafood flavor. I ordered extra noodles, but finished them quickly. The thin noodles were easy to eat and coated well with the soup.

I went on a trip to Hokkaido, and since the weather was bad that day, I couldn't decide where to go from Asahikawa. I thought, why not just go to the northernmost point, so I went to Cape Soya. I found a delicious-looking ramen! It had plenty of scallops on top and the broth was flavorful and delicious! Even though it was July, it was only 15 degrees Celsius and I was cold in my short sleeves. But the ramen warmed me up and was fantastic!

In June 2023, I am in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido. It's a solo trip of an old man whose kite string has been cut loose, with no particular destination in mind. After spending a night in Sapporo, I visited Utashinai City where I spent time until elementary school, then stayed in Takikawa for a night. Next, I stayed in Nakagawa Town where I was born. It was a nostalgic and enjoyable experience. Now, bid farewell by the landlady of the inn, I am heading towards Wakkanai today. On the way, I plan to have a coffee and think about various things. But, the 90-minute journey to Wakkanai is just nothing but pastureland, silos, and such landscapes. When I finally entered Wakkanai, the joy of discovering a Seicomart was beyond words! I bought souvenirs, had scallop ramen at the northernmost restaurant, and then visited a restaurant on top of a hill. It seemed like they were still serving, and I was surprised by the "darazubara" scallop curry half. This time, there were a few customers ahead of me. I bought a meal ticket and sat at the counter, where the curry half was served. Despite being a half portion, it was quite a generous amount. The scallop flavor was delightful, and the curry itself was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Wakkanai Lunch Scallop Ramen 1,000 yen I underestimated this ramen as a tourist-friendly dish, but I was pleasantly surprised by the taste the moment I took a sip of the soup. The delicious base with a salty flavor combined perfectly with the richness of the scallops, creating a truly unique bowl of ramen. The seafood in Wakkanai is not limited to sashimi or rice bowls.

I have been a fan of Magomeido's ramen for the past few years and have been eating it every year. However, due to the pandemic, the company that operated Magomeido, Marsan Miura Shoji, went bankrupt in November 2021. Could it be that I won't be able to eat Magomeido's ramen anymore...? At that time, when all the fans were grieving, a company called Cape, a subsidiary of Heartland Ferry that operates seafood restaurants in Rishiri, stepped in and took over the business, leading to a revival in July 2022. Magomeido's ramen is available again! Fans were grateful, but their main concern was whether the original Magomeido flavor was being faithfully preserved. So, on August 12, 2022, I went to eat there. In conclusion, it is different from the previous Magomeido. It's different, but delicious. The most noticeable difference is the noodles. They have more firmness and a modern touch compared to before. Thanks to the noodles, you can feel that they have reinterpreted the taste of Magomeido in a modern way rather than sticking to the traditional flavor. The previous noodles had mixed reviews (if you look at reviews on Google, there were more negative comments about the noodles being too soft and not tasty), so the change in noodles may be a high point for some people. Next is the soup. The seafood aroma seems weaker than before, but the scallop umami is strong. It's delicious in a different way, without the previous "deeply penetrating deliciousness" feeling. The scallops as toppings are similar to before, but they don't have much flavor on their own, so it's best to enjoy them with the soup. Lastly, the menu has changed. Soy sauce ramen, sea urchin rice bowl, scallop sashimi, and coffee drinks are no longer available. This may be just a temporary measure to stabilize operations, and they might bring back more items in the future. In conclusion, it's worth revisiting. It was delicious. I will definitely come back!

I heard about the revival and visited with excitement, but the conclusion was completely different from the previous Mamiyado. Disappointing. When I took a sip of the soup, my companion and I fell silent... The chemical taste was strong, almost bitter. Was it for commercial use? The scallops didn't have a special feeling, and the noodles were too soft. I won't be visiting again.

I visited Maimyo-do while waiting for the bus to Wakkanai. I had about 30 minutes to spare, so I ordered the scallop salt ramen. The scallops on top were large and delicious, with a nice aroma and gentle saltiness that filled my stomach. The soup was too hot to drink at first, so it would be great if they could improve on that. It was really delicious.

So, after a late breakfast, I had an early lunch. I had salted scallop ramen and sashimi. Also a half portion of curry. The soup was piping hot, not too salty but rich in flavor. The curry was delicious too. The sashimi only had scallops. I guess sea urchin is expensive this year.

"Mamiyadou, the northernmost ramen shop in Japan. Located on a hill facing the monument at Cape Soya, the northernmost point in Japan, this unique ramen shop proudly proclaims, 'Ramen gets better as you go further north.' It is closed from mid-November to mid-April, adding to its rarity. The name of the shop is likely derived from the explorer Mamiya Rinzo who was active in this area. The interior of the shop is quite spacious with counter seats, table seats, and a raised seating area. Despite its size, it is always packed during opening hours due to its popularity. To dine here, you need to write your name and car number at the registration desk and wait in your car. When your turn comes, a staff member will come to call you. Unusually for a ramen shop, they offer a menu item called 'sashimi.' Curious, I ordered it and found it surprisingly delicious, especially considering the high quality uni and scallops you get for just 1000 yen. It's a great deal compared to buying them at a supermarket in the city. Encouraged by this, I also tried the 'butter-grilled scallops' for 600 yen. It was simply grilled with butter, but the high-quality scallops made it incredibly tasty. It's a bit sad that I couldn't enjoy alcohol with it due to driving. The specialty 'salted scallop ramen' costs 800 yen. The soup has a scallop broth flavor, refined and concentrated like the seafood part of Nagoya's Sugakiya ramen. However, the noodles are not the best. They have a powdery texture and are too soft and mushy, making me want to mix rice in and eat it like a porridge. Nevertheless, it's truly appreciated that they offer such high-quality meals at this price in a tourist spot. If you visit Cape Soya, be sure to stop by Mamiyadou."

At the end of the bus route heading towards Cape Soya, there is a small temple called Maingū-dō right in front. I didn't have high expectations as it seemed like a typical souvenir shop in a tourist area. I decided to try their Salt Scallop Ramen for 850 yen. And wow, I was pleasantly surprised! The salt flavor was a bit strong, but the scallop taste was authentic, not just a scallop-like flavor. The scallop hidden under the naruto was surprisingly thick and rich in flavor. The chewy parts were also firm and I wished there were more of them to savor. The walls were covered with autographed papers from decades of visitors, from people in the Showa era to modern times. It's a shame that such a delicious restaurant is not found in urban areas.

I went to the original scallop ramen shop and tried it! The scallops were indeed big and delicious. The salt ramen had a nice flavor, just as I expected, and was very tasty. The taste was a bit strong, but just right for me. The sea urchin rice bowl had a small amount of rice, but the uni was delicious even though the gonads were already out. I'm very satisfied. Personally, I prefer the purple sea urchin type of uni. The combination of ramen and rice bowl is the best!

Located near Cape Soya, the northernmost point, this scallop ramen is a must-try. The aroma of the scallops spreads gently with just one sip of the soup, surprising you. The sea urchin bowl is also said to be delicious. Despite its remote location, the constant stream of customers indicates its popularity.

It is the well-known northernmost place in Japan. Just being there already gives a sense of satisfaction, and on top of that, there is salt ramen. Personally, I prefer the flavor to be a bit stronger and the noodles to be firmer. The scallops were also delicious. However, the overall taste was truly satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant as part of my tour in Wakkanai for lunch. The destination for my tour is often based on where to eat, but this time it was quite far, so I decided to visit this restaurant located there. Since the opening time is 10:00, it was convenient for me to arrive early, so I arrived at a fairly early hour. Even though it was already past 10:30, there were already customers eating, so it seems like everyone arrives early. The entrance is a glass sliding door on the south side of the store, and on the day I visited, the south wind was strong, truly showing it is at Cape Soya. I quickly entered to avoid causing inconvenience to the customers inside. When I entered the restaurant and mentioned that I was alone, a young female staff member, around high school age, recommended a seat at the counter. However, the counter seats were spaced out, so I would have to sit between other customers. I waited until a table for four was available, where a woman in her 40s guided me to. This flexible response was appreciated. A high school-aged male staff member brought water and asked if I had decided on my order, which was surprising. Most likely, the majority of customers already know what they want to eat. I ordered the scallop salt ramen. When I took a sip of the scallop salt ramen soup that arrived, a light umami flavor gently spread in my mouth. It doesn't have a strong scallop flavor, but it is a delicious salt soup without any gimmicks. The noodles were medium-thin curly noodles that didn't interfere with the flavor of the soup. There was one scallop topping, and considering the price of 800 yen, I felt like I got a good deal (laughs).

I have visited Hokkaido for work and personal reasons many times, but it has been 40 years since I last visited Wakkanai. After arriving at Wakkanai Port from Rebun Island by ferry and renting a car sharing service, I drove through a white road made of crushed scallop shells to reach Cape Soya. I thought it would be a cliff at the northern tip, but I was surprised to see a wide shallow sea in front of me. The restaurant located on a hill right near the cape is as follows: - Scallop Ramen I tried ramen with large scallops in it, with both salt and soy sauce flavors, but I couldn't really taste the scallops in the soup. - Curry There were many shredded scallops in the curry, but I couldn't taste the umami flavor either. It seems that the restaurant changed owners in November 2021, so I hope to see improvements in the new establishment. I visited Wakkanai in Hokkaido for the first time! I rented a car from the airport and headed straight to Cape Soya! Then, I visited "Mamiya-do," a restaurant I had been eyeing for a while. It's a diner located on a hill with a nice atmosphere! The service was decent, with friendly older ladies taking care of the place. I was torn between the scallop ramen with salt or soy sauce, but decided to go with the salt ramen as it seemed to be their specialty. The clear soup had a lovely scallop aroma to it! The soup seemed to be made with scallops and kelp, creating a flavor I had never experienced before. It was really delicious! The noodles were also great, and the scallops and wheat gluten were tasty too. Overall, the ramen at the northernmost restaurant in Japan was delicious! If I have the chance to visit Wakkanai again, I would definitely want to eat there again! Thank you for the meal♪♪
