To Mikan-san, who offers sashimi at an unbelievably low price. The seating is non-smoking. This is a hidden gem of a restaurant located on Nakamichi Street in Susukino! We were served abalone as a complimentary appetizer. What surprised me even more was that all the sashimi dishes were only 100 yen each, which was really amazing (((o(*゚▽゚*)o))) The detailed descriptions of the sake made it easy to order. The staff were bright and friendly, making it a comfortable place to dine. There is also a counter, so it's easy to go alone as well! Thank you for the wonderful meal m(_ _)m

This restaurant has been offering incredible dishes at unbelievable prices since around April, and it's currently the hottest spot. I look forward to their daily menu updates on Twitter. Even if you order a platter of assorted sashimi plus 8 appetizers, it won't cost more than 2,000 yen. I feel so guilty about it, so I always end up ordering a good Japanese sake, which brings the total to around 4,000 to 5,000 yen, but in terms of cost performance, this place is definitely the best in Susukino.

【#ObanzaiMikan】A casual dining spot in Susukino, Sapporo where you can enjoy affordable Obanzai dishes and drinks. On a solo drinking night in Susukino, the menu changes depending on the day, and on this day, you could get a single scallop for only 100 yen. Managed to snag the last piece. Unfortunately, the 100 yen marinated flounder was sold out. The scallop that came out was surprisingly large for 100 yen, cut into four pieces, and had a satisfying taste. I wanted to order more, but it was the last one, so I savored it. The appetizer for 440 yen was sazae and umesuisho sake, a favorite among drinkers. There was a rare addition of sea squirt, so I ordered it and they gave me dried sea squirt as a service. This made me want to switch to sake from beer. I had the Namara Super Spicy from Chitose Tsuru for 660 yen, which is a refreshing and spicy sake that I like. The Obanzai dishes here start from the 100 yen range, and the drinks range from 660 yen for beer and sake. The atmosphere is like a casual izakaya with a counter where you can sit and enjoy your drinks comfortably. The staff are all young and cute, so the place was mostly filled with salarymen. Finally, I had Chan Chan Yaki and the total cost was around 2500 yen.

Located at 4-chome, Minami 5-jo, on the 1st floor of Susukino Jyu Building, "Obanzai" is a popular restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant, you will see a counter with large plates of Obanzai dishes lined up. To start, I ordered "The Premium Malt's" (660 yen). The appetizer (440 yen) consisted of simmered pumpkin, stir-fried konjac and carrots. The daily Obanzai dishes range from the 100 yen range to the 300 yen range, making them affordable. I ordered two dishes. "Komatsuna-filled Dashimaki" (140 yen) was thickly sliced but having a variety of options to try might be more satisfying than having a large portion for a higher price. The broth was flavorful and delicious. "Chikuzen-ni" (240 yen) was a stew with chicken, lotus root, taro, konjac, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, and green beans. The flavors were well-infused and quite good. I thought about getting a refill for my drink. Looking at the menu, the drinks are quite pricey. Even though the dishes are affordable, if you end up drinking a lot, it could add up. I decided to order a "Maker's Mark Craft Highball" (660 yen). There were reasonably priced grilled fish options available, so I ordered "Hime-tara (2 pieces)" (440 yen). The fish was grilled perfectly and tasted delicious. Overall, the dishes were affordable and tasty. The female manager's service was also pleasant. It's a great place to have some Obanzai dishes while enjoying a drink. For those who want to drink a lot, it might get a bit expensive. Well, if both the food and drinks were cheap, the restaurant wouldn't be able to survive in Susukino. I think it's best to enjoy a few drinks and order a few dishes.

During my trip back to Hokkaido, I decided to go out for drinks with an old friend from college and headed to Susukino. Due to the sharp decrease in COVID cases, there has been an increase in tourists nationwide, and Susukino was no exception. With many tourists and locals crowding the area, it was extremely difficult to find a restaurant without a reservation. Thankfully, we were able to get a table at this place after 8 PM. All the chain restaurants were fully booked. The restaurant was small but had a cozy atmosphere, allowing us to have a lively conversation without worrying about the neighboring tables. The side dishes were all delicious, and the sake was great. Beer was a bit pricey, but sticking to sake and other alcoholic drinks might be a better option. Since tourists tend to go for Genghis Khan (grilled lamb), this place is also recommended for a second round of drinks.

Sapporo, Susukino. Today's restaurant is Obanzai Mikan. It's located on the 1st floor of the Kotobuki Building. I've known about this place for a while on Instagram, but due to COVID-19 restrictions like shortened hours and set meals, I never had the chance to visit until now. When I called, they said they had space, so after about a year, I finally got to go there. The place has a counter with 6 seats and two 4-person tables. There were already two regulars at the counter when we arrived. The beer at 660 yen was a fragrant ale, quite tasty but a bit pricey for a tumbler. The appetizer costs 300 yen. They offer 7-8 daily obanzai dishes for a little over 100 yen each. The portion size is small, but for someone like me who doesn't eat much while drinking, it's perfect. We were a group of three, with different levels of hunger, so we chose accordingly. - Fried Natto at 120 yen: A standard fried natto, which tends to be quite filling, so it's nice to get just one piece. - Dashimaki with Komatsuna at 140 yen: A slice of dashimaki. Not too sweet, a good match for sake. - Ikura Oroshi at 130 yen: I didn't try this, but I think it was salted salmon roe. Salmon roe is expensive this year, so it's nice to be able to eat it at this price. - Yubari Beef Sirloin at 1280 yen: The most expensive item on the menu. Simply grilled with salt, served with sautéed mushrooms. Light and delicious. I also tried the Midori Jin Soda at 500 yen, which was refreshing. The food is cheap, but there's no all-you-can-drink option, so if you have 3-4 drinks, you could easily spend around 3000 yen, which might not feel like a great deal for some. But it's great for going alone and enjoying a variety of dishes while drinking little by little. Thank you for the meal.

An acquaintance recommended this place, so I decided to give it a try. Located in a building down a small alley off the familiar Susukino street, you can easily spot it by the orange curtain at the entrance. Normally, they serve set meals and dishes that go well with alcohol, but when I visited, they had a special all-you-can-eat menu for 990 yen. Non-alcoholic drinks were 390 yen, and soft drinks were 250 yen. They started off with rice, miso soup, simmered dish, and a plate of assorted side dishes like sashimi, rolled omelette, croquette, burdock salad, and more. The flavors were rich and the rice was delicious. For someone living alone, being able to enjoy a variety of side dishes like this is a treat, and I thought it would be a nice place to stop by after work. I also ordered some additional dishes that were not included in the all-you-can-eat menu, and after trying everything, I was satisfied. You can pay with PayPay or Rakuten Pay.

Welcome. ---------- May 2021 ----------Located at 5-4 Minami, 4 Nishi, in front of the entrance to the Megakaruju Building on a narrow alley in Nakagoji. It's an obanzai restaurant with a bright interior and a lady in traditional Japanese clothing running the place. There's a counter and two tables, and they serve lunch during limited hours. They offer meat, fish, curry... I asked about today's grilled fish and it was "hokke," so I went with the "Lamujin set meal." The side dishes were delightful, especially the one with simmered vegetables. The simmered dish had crunchy lotus roots, the macaroni salad was delicious, and the miso soup was generously served. The rice was just the right texture, and the mini dorayaki dessert was a nice touch. They also served "soizuke" as a snack for alcohol, which was pleasantly chewy. And even a flavorful "dashimaki" omelette... They provided various complimentary dishes. Although the location might be a bit hard to find, it's a fair and fulfilling restaurant. I'd love to come back for more dishes once alcohol restrictions are lifted.

The day before, I went to a restaurant that started serving lunch, but there was a notice that they are closed today. I remembered that this other restaurant had started serving lunch, so I decided to come here. The lunch menu includes sashimi set meal for 1,000 yen, grilled fish set meal for 800 yen, curry rice for 700 yen, pork ginger sauté set meal for 800 yen, Genghis Khan set meal for 800 yen, and fried chicken set meal for 800 yen. I asked for a recommendation and ended up ordering the sashimi set meal, which was a mistake. The sashimi included herring, salmon, and shrimp, all of which were fresh and delicious but not my usual preferences. I should have checked the contents more carefully. The slightly firm freshly cooked rice was delicious. They asked if I wanted a small, regular, or large portion when I ordered. The miso soup with wheat gluten and green onions was simple but tasty. The set meal also included potato salad, simmered dish, pickles, and dessert. Since it's a traditional Japanese side dish restaurant, I wish they would offer a few more small dishes. This visit was made before the state of emergency was declared, and it seems they will be closed until May 31.

I was attracted by the name of the restaurant and made a reservation. The small interior can accommodate about 4 people at the counter, and if 2 couples are seated in the booths, it feels full. However, there were 3 staff members. A young-looking lady who seemed like the owner, a male chef, and a female server. I was wondering why there were so many staff members, but then I realized that they were there to chat with the solo diners who came in. It made sense. The daikon radish with grated daikon on top was satisfyingly large. It was served as an appetizer along with crunchy cartilage with plum dressing. The smoked herring and cream cheese wrapped in peeled daikon was interesting, like a spiral candy. The miso-grilled red snapper had a firm texture despite being small. The grilled young chicken with plum flavor was a bit light on the plum taste. I tried Kai-no-mi for the first time, and although it was a bit chewy in parts, overall it was tender. The sweet potato paste with crackers was so delicious that I had seconds. It felt like a place for regular customers, a bit hard to get into. Maybe that's better for the regulars.

I saw it on Instagram that they have a new chef at the restaurant. I found out about the new chef through a new restaurant information website. There are people who like to explore new restaurants. The person I asked said they don't use Tabelog (Japanese restaurant review website), but they refer to it when finding new restaurants. They mentioned that there is a blogger they admire who also checked out this restaurant. It's interesting to think about whose reviews they saw. Even though there are negative aspects like being obstructed by other bloggers or badmouthing, it's nice to know that their reviews can be helpful to restaurants. The conversation went well and I ended up adding an order of "Kainomi" for 1,280 yen. I heard that the head chef has changed recently, so I might go back to try it out sometime.

It's a challenging time in December 2020, but sorry Governor, Susukino is serious about following the rules! It's time for a second party at this place. Two of us entered from a Zangi shop, and later a friend joined us, making it three people (1 man, 2 women). The shop is run by two women. We ordered cocktails, starting with a Fuzzy Navel which I wanted to try from the previous shop. Cheers! We ordered some side dishes ranging from 100 yen to 520 yen. The male customer joined us while maintaining a proper distance. This place highly recommends the rare Yakan Wagyu Kaonomi (120g) for 1280 yen. I wonder if I should try it again sometime. As it got closer to 10 pm, I ordered a mandarin sake and enjoyed it. Before we knew it, it was 10:30 pm and the shop closed its doors. They are serious here, keep up the good work! Thank you for the meal!

At a Zangi restaurant in Kitaguchi, I joined the reception with the cat men. After that, we disbanded and made a date promise here. But for some reason, one member also came to this shop. In the end, is it a second party or a joint drinking party with three people? We enjoyed the deep-fried blowfish and grilled red snapper, almost like an older sister. We shared the rolled omelette and Totoron recommended Kai no Mi in harmony. Last time, I couldn't bite through the Kai no Mi properly because of the way the blade was inserted, but this time it was good. I heard that the head chef has changed recently, so I haven't been since the new head chef took over. I'm thinking of going sometime soon to try it out.

It was opened on October 23, 2020. It seems that the influence of the coronavirus is still affecting it, as such a good restaurant had zero reviews. I had heard of Totoron before but couldn't make it there until today. Since my plans in Susukino fell through, I decided to come here instead. The interior consists of a counter with 6 seats and table seating. Of course, I chose to sit at the counter. I was greeted by two young women, I'm not sure if they were the proprietress or the manager, but just that made me want to stay longer. When I opened the menu, the first page listed today's side dishes, and they were surprisingly cheap. For example, pumpkin and apple salad for 100 yen, or celery with sesame oil dressing for 150 yen. I was surprised. I ordered the stir-fried enoki mushrooms and asparagus in butter and soy sauce for 300 yen. Just the name sounds delicious, right? And it really was tasty. The portion size was also impressive. I also tried the bibimbap-style glass noodle dish for 250 yen. It was amazing. The drinks were a bit pricey, but since I don't drink much, it didn't affect me. I recommend it for light drinkers. And the meat! For some reason, they serve Yakumo beef here, specifically sirloin for 1,280 yen for 120g. I think that's a good deal. As a fan of raw meat, I had it cooked very rare. It was too rare, lacking any flavor. That was my mistake. Next time, I'll go for rare. Oh, there will definitely be a next time. I finished with a rolled omelette and special mentaiko rice. My stomach was full and satisfied.

By chance? No. We arrived at 6:00 PM and there were only two of us as customers. We had a reservation, but there was no welcoming greeting. The atmosphere was tense from the beginning. This pattern seemed bad, so I had a gut feeling. The landlady was standing at the end of the counter, not looking too busy. Feeling awkward, I tried to strike up a conversation by asking, "How should we order? What do you recommend?" She mumbled something about the menu having recommendations. I know it's a small place, but some places have the landlady create a combination for you. I thought maybe this place did that, so I asked. At that moment, if I had been alone, I would have just sat at the counter eating and drinking in silence. Also, the TV was too loud, so I couldn't hear my partner speaking. It felt like an "eat-in deli" kind of place. Based on reviews, they might treat regular customers well. Later, a couple came in and they also seemed uncomfortable. The air conditioning was too strong, and the woman looked like she was struggling. Because of these things, we left early, leaving the couple behind. It seemed like a fun place, so it was disappointing.
