I had dinner at Bar Alt in the Western District. It's a stylish American-style bar. These kinds of restaurants really stand out in the Western District. I heard they recently started serving ramen, so I was a bit skeptical about it, but it looked really delicious. I ordered the Hakodate Black Soy Sauce Ramen. They topped it with green onions and finely chopped onions. The color is dark, but surprisingly refreshing. The chicken broth soup gives a nostalgic feeling. It's a taste that Hakodate doesn't really have, but it seems more traditional than salt ramen. I see, there's a reason why it has a common taste. Thank you for the meal.

It seems that the BAR near my home has started serving lunch, and they even have ramen now! I have to go check it out. The place is called "Ramen BAR ALT" and it's located near Takarai-cho tram stop. The master is friendly and easy to talk to, without being pushy. I decided to try their most popular dish, the Hakodate Black Soy Sauce Ramen for 800 yen. The black soy sauce broth is surprisingly light yet flavorful, with a nice kick from the chopped onions. The noodles are thick and chewy, a perfect match for the soup. The toppings include two slices of thinly sliced pork, wheat gluten, bamboo shoots, and green onions. In a time where ramen can be overly complicated, it's refreshing to find a simple yet delicious bowl like this. I wish it was a bit cheaper, maybe 700 or 750 yen, but I guess that's the price you pay for ramen at a BAR. I'm looking forward to trying the master's recommended "Hearty Niboshi Ramen" next time!

On the third day of my trip to Hokkaido, Sunday night after 10 PM, the restaurant was empty. I ordered the black soy sauce ramen for 800 yen. The interior of the restaurant was dark, which made it seem black. However, the taste of the soup was surprisingly light, almost bland. When I slurped the noodles, there was hardly any flavor. The miso ramen seemed more delicious.

This is a bar in Hakodate town that has been serving ramen for a few years now. It seems like the previous restaurant name was marked as closed on Tabelog, so I'm reposting it. There seems to be an old man who criticizes those who repost their reviews in Hakodate, saying they are trying to boost their store's sales. I tried the Hakodate Black Soy Sauce Ramen for 780 yen. It had a nice flavor, though it felt a bit amateurish. They used to only serve lunch on Sundays, but it seems like they are now open for lunch on other days as well, so please check their store's Instagram for details.
