Title as it is. A reminder not to judge by appearance, a restaurant that I reaffirmed. "Buffet Restaurant Five Star". During my trip to Hokkaido, I participated in a day trip tour and visited the "Buffet Restaurant Five Star Asahikawa Store (FIVESTAR)" at that time. As the name suggests, it is a buffet restaurant specializing in buffets. Moreover, judging from the reviews, it seems to be a restaurant popular with tour groups. Well, considering the price of the tour, it's strange to have such high expectations. (By the way, the tour is the Hokkaido Central Bus Hokkaido Garden Ueno Farm and Blue Pond, Biei Hill Tour Course) You can search for tours that are being conducted on the "Bus Megu Hokkaido" website. The tour departs from Sapporo in the morning, visits four sightseeing spots, and even goes as far as Tokachi-dake, so it's quite a full itinerary. So, expecting a great lunch is off the mark. After leaving the charming Ueno Farm, we arrived at the Buffet Restaurant Five Star. Well, yeah, that's the feeling. The interior of the restaurant gives off a vibe of a former family restaurant, perhaps? It's fine, as long as my stomach is filled, I thought as I began to peruse the offerings. Surprisingly, there was a wide range of Hokkaido local specialties such as scallops, corn, ramen, as well as a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. There was even sushi, and they were promptly replenished. The flavors were impressive as well. Not the typical buffet style of aiming for a "rich flavor and filling up on carbohydrates." The dessert selection was also plentiful. I ordered the stone-grilled bibimbap and enjoyed it freshly made. And the original price. It's only 1000 yen. 1000 yen. A welcome presence for local families, perhaps. The restaurant's website states, "We will propose the way of Japanese buffet restaurants. Please enjoy the authentic deliciousness to your heart's content." It's a restaurant that I hope will thrive from the land of the north.
