Even during the state of emergency, I'm grateful that Karaoke Kan is open until late at night. It seems that everyone gathers here, as we arrived around 2:30 AM on a Friday with four people and found a long line! There were three groups ahead of us, and since each group had many people, it was quite crowded. They suggested that I could get a 1,000 yen discount per person just by registering as a LINE friend, but I decided against it! Despite dealing with insomnia and feeling pretty down, I have been going to Karaoke Kan a lot lately and probably should have registered. I find that rereading things like "Tokyo Tarareba Musume," "Supplement," and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" hits me harder than before as someone in my late 20s (I'm still technically in my 20s). By the way, the Tabelog rating is 3.00 as of February 2021!

I came to do solo karaoke (hitokara) since there's not much to do during the New Year. I'm at KARATEZ in front of Ebisu Station. It feels cleaner than the Oimachi branch, and there are more rooms available. The price is about 1400 yen for 1.5 hours of free drinks starting from 10 AM on a Saturday. Wait, is it more expensive than Oimachi? Ice cream is 300 yen for all-you-can-eat. It seems that the prices vary slightly between locations. They also offer rentals for cosplay costumes and mobile chargers (for a fee). The drink bar is similar to other locations, but it feels clean and the interior is bright. While the DAN system keeps evolving, the karaoke machines are quite old, with blurry images and somewhat inaccurate scoring. The hero characters have a nostalgic charm, so I'd like them to keep those around.

The lemon sour was terrible...

I have some time to spare until evening, so I'm taking a detour in Ebisu. To kill time, I’m heading to "Karaoke no Tetsujin Ebisu Ekimae". Today, I'm having a solo recital for 3.5 hours (laughs). Please see the photos for my results. As a member of Kara-Tetsu, I can sing for 270 yen (tax included) for 30 minutes. Of course, there's a one-drink order system. However, if you're a JAF member or belong to other membership programs, you can get a 30% discount from the non-member rates, which can be more beneficial, so keep that in mind. I ordered an iced coffee for 421 yen (tax included) and even treated myself to an "Ice Party". The place was mostly filled with solo singers like myself... I primarily went for nostalgic songs (laughs).
