On a certain weekday, I had lunch at a bakery located inside Super Lucky at 7-chome, Higashi 49-jo, Higashi Ward. Since the bakery is inside the supermarket, there seems to be enough parking spaces available. The store is located in the middle of the supermarket and operates independently with its own kitchen. If you're lucky, you might even encounter freshly baked goods. On this day, I chose a few items from the display that caught my eye. The "Whip Ball (108 yen)" had a crispy chocolate coating that was slightly sweet and subtly bitter. The bread itself was a bit on the dry side, and the cream inside was rich and balanced out the chocolate. The "Cinnamon Donut (151 yen)" emitted a strong cinnamon scent even before taking a bite. It was generously coated with sugar, and although I knew fried pastries would make me feel heavy, I couldn't resist eating it. The "Salt Bread (129 yen)" had a relatively soft and chewy bread with melted butter inside, giving it a unique taste. The pricing was reasonable, and the bakery seemed to have a good selection of products that would attract many customers, especially considering the spacious women's clothing section across the store. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

It is February, but it is a warm afternoon with a high of 6 degrees Celsius. While taking a walk, I pass by a park where children are playing. Four boys around middle school age are playing soccer, and the ball rolls towards me when they miss their target. I kick the ball back, and it floats nicely towards one of the boys. They thank me politely, and just as I raise my hand in acknowledgement, I slip on some loose snow and fall. It was a fitting ending for an older gentleman like me.
Now, during work, I stopped by "Hokuyu Lucky" on Hokko Line North 49. It was a little past 9:30 AM, but they open at 9 AM, and there were already many customers. Among the three Lucky stores in the city, I visited "Farine," where I quickly found a snack for lunch.
The "Yamanote Burger @410 yen (tax included)" stood out due to its size. I bought it and ate it in the car just before noon. The ingredients included patty, tomato, lettuce, and bacon. The taste was enhanced by a sauce similar to demi-glace with a hint of ketchup. The vegetables provided a good crunch and balanced well with the other ingredients. The only downside was that the food was quite cold. I felt that warming it up even a little would have made a big difference in the overall impression.
Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

In April 2013, I visited the Farine Kit 49jo shop for the first time. After having lunch at the popular ramen shop Kamejin nearby, I decided to visit Farine which was located within the Lucky Kit 49jo store in Higashi-ku, Sapporo. Farine is related to the Lucky chain, and I often visit the Lucky Yamate store personally. On this day, they were having a 100 yen bread fair. One bread that caught my eye was the "Raisin Bread," made with Hokkaido's precious wheat variety called "Kitanokaori." Kitanokaori is a new wheat variety developed for bread making, known for its high protein content. It is expected to become the mainstream wheat variety for bread in Japan in the future. Farine uses Kitanokaori in a few of their products like the "Hotel Bread" and "Baguette." I bought the Raisin Bread and a few other items at the Lucky Yamate store. The Raisin Bread is a soft French bread made with Kitanokaori wheat and mixed with raisins, topped with sugar. It is made to be easy to eat for everyone and costs 150 yen. I also bought the Queen's Shoe, which is a cream puff made with croissant dough, and the Sweet Potato Danish, which has sweet potato filling, both priced at 100 yen. Farine offers reasonably priced and delicious bread, and I personally enjoy their Long Apple Pie. They often have special deals on days with the number 7. Overall, it was a tasty and satisfying experience at Farine.
