January 19, 2022. What I can do now is to at least support restaurants while being careful enough. Let's all work together and have a blast! Tonight, I went for a second round of drinks with friends outside the city. Initially, we tried to go to a sushi restaurant, but it didn't work out. We ended up at a new place called "Natsume" near the southern part of Obihiro, close to Mugioto and northeast of the South Community Center. The exterior is a one-story building with cream-colored walls. The interior is stylish and cozy, with a counter seating for 7, a small raised seating for 4, and three tables for 4 people and one table for 6 people. We arrived at 7:20 pm (after making a reservation). The menu focuses on Japanese cuisine with a small selection of dishes, so we ordered mainly fish dishes. All prices include tax. ★Otoshi (complimentary appetizer) - price not confirmed. ★Assorted sashimi (per person) - 1,430 yen. ★Monkfish liver with ponzu sauce - 780 yen. ★Beef tataki with grated radish and ponzu sauce - 780 yen. ★Grilled amberjack collar - 720 yen. ★Ordered alcohol as well. The sashimi was fresh, and the spear squid was sweet and delicious. The monkfish liver had a slight hint of bitterness, but it added to the sophisticated flavor. The most delicious dish was the stylish complimentary appetizer. I will definitely come back to try more dishes. Thank you for the meal. I went to Natsume-san! It was my first visit. Today was a long-awaited gathering with friends. The first place we planned to go was fully booked, so we headed to Natsume-san without a reservation. They said we could sit at the counter since it wasn't too crowded. There were three of us, and we sat at the counter. The place seemed busy with only three staff members - the owner and two women. They seemed quite busy. We started with beer and Calpis for a toast. Even though we have work tomorrow, this moment is irresistible (laughs). The restaurant is known for its food, so we had high expectations. The menu wasn't too extensive, so we ordered light dishes - sashimi, tempura, beef and bonito tataki, steamed clams with sake, pickles, and udon. The fresh tuna sashimi was incredibly delicious. Surprisingly, the appetizer was sashimi, with scallops and salmon. It felt like a bonus. The tempura was also delicious. It seems to be their specialty. The steamed clams with sake had silky tofu in it, which was a unique touch. The clams were large and flavorful. We were satisfied with everything we ordered. I would love to come back when it's not too crowded. It seemed like a popular spot for families in the neighborhood. Thank you, Natsume-san, for the delicious meal.

This restaurant was started by someone who was staying at the 1st or 2nd best hotel in Obihiro City. It is said that the prefabricated style and the location in the suburbs were intentional choices. Scoop on Somebody and Katsutomo Takeda of the Nippon-Ham Fighters have visited during their trips to Obihiro, although the reasons for their visits are unknown. The menu consists mostly of simple dishes, with not many original creations. The appetizer was a kind of ankake dish. It seems a waste of talent, as the husband and wife running the restaurant may be too busy to fully utilize their skills. The salad and grilled dishes were delicious. Fugu courses can be reserved in advance. On the day I visited, there was a banquet with about 10 people in a tatami room (not a sunken kotatsu), and many families with small children were also dining, creating a lively atmosphere. I think it is a restaurant known only to a few.

It is a small izakaya located in a residential area just off the main street. It looks like a regular house from the outside. Inside, it feels more like a cozy café with tatami seating, giving a homely vibe. The menu offers a variety of dishes like sashimi and tempura, resembling a traditional kaiseki meal with a focus on fish and vegetables. Each dish was delicious but the portions were small and the menu had similar items, leaving you wanting more variety. The prices were a bit high for the location, atmosphere, and type of food. Families with children were also common, making it a bit noisy with kids crying. Other customers seemed like regulars from the neighborhood.
