When I visited the event space at Daimaru Tokyo store, I purchased a donut that was actually more like a cake. I tried three flavors - Hokkaido milk, Shiretoko salted caramel, and salted caramel chocolate - and they all tasted very similar, with a strong milk or honey flavor. Other flavors available were cocoa chocolate, salted caramel banana, rum raisin, pumpkin, salted caramel matcha, cream cheese, and dark roasted coffee, all priced at 231 yen each. The Hokkaido milk donut was the most popular, made with Chubetsu milk and Shiretoko honey for a fluffy texture, enhanced with salted caramel for richness. The Shiretoko salted caramel donut used three times the amount of caramel for a luxurious taste, while the salted caramel chocolate donut offered a different twist with even more decadent chocolate.

I was looking at a newspaper flyer and saw a Hokkaido Fair at a nearby department store, featuring Shiretoko Donuts. Since donuts are currently trending, I eagerly went to check it out. When I arrived, I saw that the donuts were large with a hole in the middle, like a donut with a hole in the center. However, I had already bought donuts from Haradonuts and another tofu shop that day, so I wasn't sure if I could try all the different types. As I was pondering what to do, I found a product called "Korokoro," which had each donut cut into small pieces and packed together with all the flavors. It cost 630 yen. This was perfect! I purchased it without hesitation. I quickly enjoyed it with my family in the car. Even though we were already full from lunch and the Haradonuts, these small pieces were perfect for tasting a variety of flavors. Since the donuts didn't retain their original shape, the texture was more like a pound cake. It was moist and delicious, unlike hotcakes or dorayaki. It was exactly like a pound cake! We had fun trying different flavors, but unfortunately, the pack didn't specify which flavors were included, so we had to guess based on taste and ingredients. To fully enjoy this product, I hope they will label the flavors on the pack in the future. Despite not looking like typical donuts, we enjoyed them.

Next to the kiosk was Shireruto Donuts, a donut shop recommended by my colleagues at work. The best in Sapporo seems to be Haradonuts, but I decided to visit Shireruto Donuts as a challenge. As I was told, the donuts were quite large. The shape seemed to represent something related to Shiretoko, although I can't remember exactly what it was. They were volcano-like in shape. Each donut cost 230 yen. There were many flavors available, but I was drawn to the cream cheese and salted caramel ones. There was a set of three donuts next to the cash register for 630 yen, which I assumed were a mix of old ones, but they were actually freshly made for the day. Upon closer inspection, the flavors were different. I decided on the set with salted caramel and rum raisin. The donuts seemed to be baked rather than fried, and had a texture similar to chiffon cake. They were delicious and had a shelf life of three days, making them suitable for breakfast or lunch at work. Overall, it was not particularly impressive, but still enjoyable.
