First day of business trip in Sapporo. Had a dinner meeting with business partners at 52 Pocha (O-ee Pocha). Located at Minami 5-jo Nishi 2-chome, it's easily accessible from Toyohira Susukino Station and Susukino Station. 52 Pocha is a Korean restaurant that just opened in November 2022. Run by a couple who immigrated from Korea, the owner trained in Tokyo before opening this place. In Korean, 5 is "O" and 2 is "ee". Pocha refers to street stalls or izakayas, so with a Korean twist, it became O-ee Pocha. The colorful and cute facade is eye-catching. Instead of the usual "irasshaimase", the greeting here is "Ososseyo", which adds to the fun atmosphere. The large TVs on each floor play K-pop music videos, and the neon signs and Korean posters create a lively ambiance. The first floor has a designated smoking area, which was well-designed even though I don't smoke. The restaurant has around 60 seats on the first and second floors, and we were the first customers that day. When we pressed the call button on the table, a staff member greeted us with "Yogiyo", which made us all laugh. The menu features classic dishes like Samgyeopsal along with a variety of Korean home-style dishes. Here's what we ordered: - Mipanchan: Quail eggs, sweet potato stew, lotus root salad, served as a starter. - Samgyeopsal: Thick-cut pork belly grilled at the table, served with lettuce wraps, kimchi, bean sprouts, onions, salad, sesame salt sauce, ssamjang, chopped chili, and garlic. The portions were generous and delicious. - Mandu: Korean-style dumplings served with dipping sauce. - Honey Mustard Chicken: Crispy chicken pieces with honey mustard sauce and salad. - Rice Cake Cheese Balls: Cute and tasty rice cake balls. - Rapokki: Tteokbokki with ramen noodles, a popular dish in Sapporo. - Japchae: A luxurious dish with plenty of ingredients. - Nira Chijimi: Crispy Korean chive pancake. - Bibimbap: A satisfying bowl of mixed rice with vegetables and a fried egg on top. - Samgyetang: A hearty chicken soup with tender chicken pieces. - 2 Draft Beers: Enjoyed with the meal. Overall, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively, and the service was friendly. Definitely a great spot for Korean cuisine in Sapporo.
