I visited Shime's Ramen. The restaurant was full of foreign customers. An elderly lady was handling everything from cooking to serving by herself and seemed to be struggling. The dumplings were sold out, so I ordered a beer and salt ramen. The soup was gentle and tasted like a normal salt ramen. It was perfect for finishing the meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I went to see the ramen placed next to the bus ramen that my friend was interested in, and I had ramen here. The ramen made by an old lady in Hakodate. The salt ramen costs 600 yen. A day of eating various things ends with ramen. It's dark around here at night.

I visited a shop that has a nostalgic feel and seems to have been around for a long time, located opposite of Yukawa. An elderly lady seemed to be running the shop by herself. I tried the salt ramen for 600 yen. The noodles were quite soft, but the old-fashioned soup had a comforting taste that was surprisingly delicious.

I took the streetcar from Hakodate Station to Yunokawa Onsen. I visited the long-established Yunohama Hotel for a day trip bath. I enjoyed the amazing view while listening to the sound of the waves in the open-air bath. Before heading to the airport, I searched for a place to eat and found Hokkai Ramen. It was run by an elderly woman. Since I just came from the hot springs, I started with beer and gyoza. When the gyoza arrived, I ordered salt ramen and enjoyed the freshly baked gyoza. The gyoza had an exquisite thickness of skin and delicious filling. The flavorful salt ramen was also excellent. It surpassed the famous shop I visited the day before. The restaurant was adorned with many autographs of famous actors.

I was feeling a little hungry, so I decided to have some ramen in this situation. There was only one mother working and no other customers. I ordered miso ramen and salt ramen. The taste was... It was good that the restaurant was open. I would visit again if I have the chance.

Since seeing a review about this gyoza last May, I have been wanting to try it. When I came to Hakodate, I knew I had to try it! I visited around 4 pm and was surprised to find no one in the restaurant. I soon realized the mother was sleeping at a table in the back. I felt bad waking her up, but I asked for a beer and some gyoza. The beer came quickly, and the gyoza was soon being cooked from the freezer. After about 10 minutes, they were served - 7 pieces of gyoza with crispy skin and flavorful filling. The balance of meat and vegetables was perfect, and they were delicious even without dipping them in sauce. Each gyoza was carefully wrapped by hand, showing the care put into making them. I will definitely come back to eat these gyoza again when I visit Hakodate! Thank you, Hokkai restaurant, for the delicious meal.

I was a bit disappointed by a nostalgic restaurant I visited earlier, so I decided to check out this place next door. Today's last stop is Hokkai Ramen. It has a counter with 9 seats and two 4-person tables. I arrived at 11:30 PM and there were no other customers. This place is one I used to frequent since my student days. The atmosphere hasn't changed much. However, the old man was not there, only the lady was behind the counter. I initially planned to visit three ramen shops tonight, but after having a bowl at the previous place, I was quite full so I decided to skip the ramen here. Instead, I ordered a bottle of beer for 550 yen and a plate of gyoza for 500 yen. The gyoza here comes in a set of 6, and they are on the smaller side. They have a strong garlic flavor, making them perfect for enjoying with beer. They are meaty and have a manly taste. The gyoza here was as delicious as ever, which was nice. However, the old man who used to joke about how eating their gyoza would prevent you from meeting girls that night was not there. The lady who used to be reserved has aged quite a bit, and the atmosphere was not conducive to chatting about old times or memories. It was a bit sad, but I left the restaurant after enjoying my meal. Thank you for the meal.

Yunokawa Kanko Hotel is located along the road from Hakodate city to the airport. They recommend the vegetable-filled gyoza and corn butter ramen. I visited around 3 pm on a weekday. There were so many vegetables on the table for making handmade gyoza that there was almost no space left. I ordered the salt ramen, which arrived in about 9 minutes. The toppings included chashu, menma, seaweed, and chopped green onions. The soup was made with kombu, dried fish, pork bones, and vegetables, creating a light yet flavorful broth that didn't get boring. The noodles (from Deguchi Seimen) were egg-infused curly noodles that paired well with the soup. The chashu was tender and flavorful. Some of the main items on the menu include salt and shoyu ramen for 500 yen, ankake yakisoba for 700 yen, handmade gyoza for 500 yen, and corn butter ramen for 900 yen (excluding tax). They do not accept credit cards. The ramen shop at Gyokuto Onsen seemed to be run by one person. Despite being located in Yunokawa Onsen, it seemed to attract both tourists and locals. The chashu had too strong of a flavor, overpowering the salt ramen. The broth was light and the noodles were a bit too soft. However, considering that human error is natural, these flaws were within an acceptable range. I feel that the lack of greed in their business is the charm of this shop. The gentle flavor of the broth is suitable as a finale to a meal with drinks. Overall rating: 2.5 stars.

This is a restaurant located across from a very famous ramen shop in Yunokawa Onsen. The shop is run by an elderly lady, and even though the place across the street is always crowded, this one is usually quite empty. However, my family prefers this one. The salt ramen is refreshing, and the chashu noodles are a must-try (we always order them). The gyoza is also a must-have. My favorite is the chashu noodles. It is recommended to order rice with it. The chashu here has a deep soy sauce flavor, and it tastes even better with rice. Just writing about it makes me crave it. I revisited in August 2015. I still ordered the chashu noodles. The chashu is just delicious, cooked by the grandma until it's flavorful. Along with the chashu noodles, I ordered gyoza. It has a strong garlic flavor and is delicious. I just want to take the chashu home. The famous shop across the street is still crowded. This place is still empty. People in their 40s and older might prefer this place (laughs). But our two biggest fans at home are in their 20s. Revisited in August 2015 for the second time. I had previously ordered the chashu noodles, so I decided to try something different this time. I ordered the ankake yakisoba. Hakodate is actually the best place for ankake yakisoba. Every shop here serves yakisoba with plenty of seafood and a generous portion. The ankake yakisoba at Hokkai Ramen had the "gentle flavor" I expected. I even savored the remaining sauce at the end. It was filled with scallops, squid, and shrimp. It was delicious!

The entrance of the restaurant was crowded, and we were told there was a 30-minute wait. Despite being short on time, we chose this restaurant. Sometimes these old-fashioned ramen shops can surprisingly be delicious. With high expectations, we entered. I ordered a beer, but was disappointed to see they only had Asahi Super Dry. Isn't Sapporo the go-to beer for Hokkaido? I wanted a Sapporo Classic. The server even asked, "Is it okay if we only have Asahi?" Well, I can't tell the difference blindfolded, so I settled for an Asahi. The Hakodate specialty "salt ramen" that my child ordered arrived first, which was a nice touch. Our order came a bit late, but the food was decently tasty. However, it wasn't outstanding. The soup was a bit lukewarm. Still, for an old-fashioned ramen place, it passes. Also, the homemade gyoza was delicious.

After moving to Hakodate and staying at a hotel where we ate and drank quite a bit, my friend suggested taking a walk to sober up. We randomly stopped by this restaurant, which was still open late, typical of a tourist spot. We were trying to remember what kind of ramen is famous in Hakodate - is it salt-based? Not miso, that's Sapporo. We were having drunk conversations while waiting for our ramen, ordering more beer. Is this really sobering up? But the salt ramen was delicious, with plenty of flavorful chashu. Maybe we were the last customers of the night, so they gave us some extra service? We happily ordered more beer, and that's how the night in Hakodate went on.

Located facing National Route 278, with parking available at the back of the store at "Yunokawa Kanko Hotel". Easy access by car. Choose from miso, salt, soy sauce, salted butter, etc... In Hakodate, go for the salt option. Salt ramen (¥600) with toppings such as half-boiled egg, shinachiku, nori, and 2 pieces of chashu. The noodles are medium thick and straight. The texture is firm. The soup is clear gold with a high salt concentration. It has a strong flavor, making it suitable for finishing a meal after heavy drinking. Gyoza (¥500) in the shape of a US military Grumman aircraft. 7 small round dumplings with thin, soft skin that are hot, juicy, and mildly sweet. However, it was the first time I had seen such high prices.
