"Oga Wa" is indeed a large company specializing in delicacies. I visited their headquarters to purchase some delicacies. I have tried their products before, so I was curious to see if there was anything new. I was really interested in their miso-simmered mackerel. However, in the end, I ended up choosing dried shrimp. I imagined my wife's reaction when I brought back the miso-simmered mackerel, and that made me choose the shrimp instead. My wife's disappointment in my choice made me feel irritated, and I ended up telling her that I would eat all of it and not bring back any souvenirs for her. She responded by calling me a small-minded old man and telling me to leave. In the end, I settled for the shrimp, which had a satisfying texture and flavor. My wife ended up eating most of it the next morning, despite my intention to only eat three pieces. It was delicious."

The packaging is modern and stylish, giving a sophisticated look. However, I prefer good-tasting snacks over trendy packaging. Delicious snacks!

On June 1, 2020, we had my wife's homemade dishes for dinner, and there were some snacks for alcohol. I remembered that my wife had bought some smoked and pickled whelk before, and since the expiration date was approaching, we decided to eat it (laughs). It must have been quite expensive - Ohga Main Store / Head Office Direct Sales Store smoked whelk, or pickled whelk... I think scallop adductor muscles are also expensive, but this must be too. Each one is individually vacuum packed, so it has a long shelf life. The grains are small snails (laughs). When you eat it, you can feel the smoky flavor of the smoked food, but the soy sauce-based seasoning is sweet. You can enjoy the texture, but it's hard to discern the flavor of the whelk due to the strong taste. Well, I guess this kind of delicacy is like that, but personally, I was a little disappointed (^^;) It was delicious, no doubt, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. My wife also tried it and also found it a bit too sweet. Since my wife said so, it must be true (laughs). However, she mentioned that she had tried other products from here before and they were delicious. If we have the chance, we'll try them again. It was delicious!! Thank you for the meal♪

I purchased it at an event at Tobu Funabashi. Despite the recent soaring prices of salmon roe and ikura, I still feel the arrival of autumn and crave the taste of ikura. The large, firm grains of ikura are truly delicious. I enjoyed snacking on them slowly, making for a great appetizer.

(Received in October 2022) My daughter and her husband brought back this snack when they returned from visiting his hometown of Asahikawa with their grandchild. It's more like a snack than a souvenir. It's lightly cheese-flavored squid. The illustration on the package adds a nice touch!

It's a shop in Kushiro, and this time they participated in the "Spring Hokkaido Fair" at Fujisaki Department Store. I bought some snacks to go with sake. There were many options to choose from, but I decided on the salted squid. It was slightly sweet and delicious. I also bought Sapporo Classic beer from the same Hokkaido Fair to enjoy with it.

On October 17th, in Sendai Fujisaki, I successfully completed the main missions of the Hokkaido exhibition, obtaining two seafood bento boxes and zangi. The remaining free mission is a skirmish with the popular Hokkaido exhibition's main attractions, such as seafood bento boxes and zangi, as well as Hokkaido specialties like ramen, soup curry, Genghis Khan, and pork bowl. Recently, a popular item on TV shows is Sato Suisan's "sake no ruibe". Unfortunately, Sato Suisan was not present at this event, but I was determined to try ruibe. There were two shops offering ruibe this time, and after considering online reviews, I decided on this shop. The ruibe (200g) and shiokara (200g) cost around 2500 yen in total. I had the ruibe with rice on Monday night, and it was sticky and had a burst of salmon sweetness and flavor, perfect with hot rice. On Tuesday morning, I tried the shiokara, which was also delicious with tender squid meat and a nice sweetness. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.

I discovered a type of fish called "Komai" for the first time at the Maruhiro Hokkaido Product Fair in Ageo, priced at 360 yen. It is cooked by boiling for about 5 minutes and is not as sweet as expected for a sweetened fish dish. It is not too salty either, as the fish was originally pickled before being cooked in a sweet sauce. The taste is somewhat mild due to the reduced saltiness. It seems more like a side dish for a meal rather than a typical drinking snack. It is reasonably priced for a souvenir and practical to bring home. Unfortunately, I did not win the lottery this time, but I received a clear file with a seasonal fish chart from the Kushiro City Product Association.

At the Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro branch, they hold a "Great Hokkaido Local Products Exhibition" three times a year. I always look forward to it every time. In addition to "Salmon Lübe Pickles," the product I always buy is their "Shishamo." There are various sizes available, but my favorite is the 2L size female shishamo. The moment you bite into it, the abundance of shishamo eggs and umami flavor spreads throughout your mouth, making it incredibly delicious. It's perfect for enjoying with drinks. The size is just right, and the price is reasonable, so I think it's definitely worth trying. The next event is scheduled for mid-May. I will definitely visit again and make a purchase. I visited the "Autumn Great Hokkaido Fair" held at Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro Store and tried the "Shishamo" being offered there. It was clearly different from the "Capelin" sold at the nearby supermarket. It is said that if you want to enjoy the taste, go for the male, and if you want to enjoy the eggs, go for the female, so I tried the male. The shishamo was thick and packed with meat, and just lightly searing it in a frying pan made the rich fat ooze out. It was a dish that I wanted to enjoy with beer.

Visited the Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro for the event "2015 Early Summer Great Hokkaido Exhibition". The beautiful shishamo caught my eye and I was drawn to it. This time, it was a hit product, so shishamo fans should head to Ikebukuro Tobu by May 12th. But are there really that many "shishamo fans"? "Rare Delicacy Shishamo" (¥1,080/65g) - Shishamo from eastern Hokkaido dried and smoked. As it was said to be delicious when slightly grilled, the aroma becomes irresistible when grilled. It is already tender, but grilling it makes it even softer. It tastes great on its own, but dipping it in a bit of chili mayonnaise enhances the flavor even more. A dish where the original umami of shishamo is condensed. Very good. Of course, it goes perfectly with beer. I also tried the regular "grilled shishamo" during the tasting, but I thought this one was better so I bought it. I also sampled a smoked male shishamo, which was tasty with added flavor, but I felt it slightly deviated from the original taste of shishamo, so I chose this one. This shop was established in 1916 and is committed to delivering the taste of the north to many people by using traditional handmade methods and avoiding synthetic preservatives or coloring agents for a "safe" and "secure" product.
