Today, I decided to visit a restaurant for the first time in a few years during the year-end and New Year holidays. The menu consisted of set meals, rice bowls, curry, and pasta, but to my surprise, they were no longer serving meals. However, they offered a toast set, which included toast, salad, fried egg, and coffee for 550 yen. Although it was delicious, I felt a bit lonely without the option of having a proper meal.

On a certain weekday, still in the New Year mood, I visited a quite old-fashioned café bookmarked for lunch in Shinkotoni 6-jo, Kita-ku. There is a parking lot for 2-3 cars across the street from the building. The interior of the cafe is relatively spacious with low chairs and tables, a counter, and even an old mahjong game with no power connected. There are also many manga books on display. The background music is the midday variety show on TV. Unfortunately, they were not serving meals that day, but when I asked, they said they could make a "toast set (550 yen)." After about 5 minutes, the toast was ready. It looked like a luxurious breakfast! I took a bite... The bread was a slice of household white bread cut in half and toasted to a warm temperature, with butter soaked in nicely. There was also a lightly seasoned fried egg, lettuce with sesame dressing, lightly smoked-flavored sliced ham, and a slice of orange that added a nice touch. Finally, I finished with a well-timed hot coffee. Even though they weren't serving meals at the time, I still enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.
