It's been a while since I stayed in Obihiro... Feeling tired, I decided to stop by a nearby izakaya called "Misumi." The place was lively with two groups of customers, but it seemed like it was getting late for hot pot. I sat at the counter in front of the TV. I started with a beer for 500 yen. They don't serve a continuous pour. I ordered squid sashimi for 500 yen and chicken skewers for 430 yen. The owner asked, "The squid sashimi is frozen, is that okay?" I appreciated his honesty. The chicken skewers came in a plate of three, seasoned with salt. By the time I finished my beer, the squid sashimi arrived. The owner asked if I wanted wasabi or ginger, and I chose ginger. It was surprisingly good for something that had just been thawed. The chicken skewers were flavorful and filling. The plate of three was a bit much for me. The owner tried to make small talk about the weather and slipping on the snow, but I was too engrossed in watching "Aibou" on BS. I had a small hot sake and the bill came out to around 1,800 yen. The hot pot looked delicious too... maybe I should have stayed for that. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Izakaya Masumi today! It's a gathering of friends. One person couldn't make it, so a new employee was sent as a replacement. The new guy, Kou, has a fresh look and reminds me of Aya◯o Takumi. We visited around 8 pm on a Saturday, and we decided to come back again. The tuna sashimi was delicious! The restaurant was empty, so we had it all to ourselves. We had a toast with three beers and ordered sashimi, mackerel, tsukune, pickled vegetables, tempura, nira kimchi, and yakisoba at the request of the new guy. The tempura was homemade and tasty, and the yakisoba was a hit with the new guy. He has a quirky eating habit of eating cup noodles for lunch every day and hamburgers for dinner every night. Overall, the food at Izakaya Masumi was delicious. After the first round, we walked to the city center for more fun. Thank you, Izakaya Masumi, for the delicious meal!

I went to Izakaya Masumi! Today is the day of the ◯◯◯◯ meeting (^^;; ◯◯ refers to the fact that three people have the same character in their last names (on'yomi), so it was named like that! Well, the activity is to visit as many new restaurants as possible that we haven't been to before (^^)d I asked my junior colleague (◯mura) if he knew any good Izakaya around the town. Oh, Masumi is a good Izakaya, it's delicious, he said immediately! Normally, ◯mura-kun hardly ever goes to Izakaya... but it seems like he used to visit various restaurants in the past (^^) So, trusting ◯mura, Masumi was decided (laughs) I checked on Tabelog beforehand. The reviews were quite good! However, there were no recent reviews... so I decided to call the restaurant just to be sure. Oh! I got through! (Sorry) I confirmed if they were open that day, and made a reservation for three people (laughs) Everyone was visiting for the first time (^^) When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a ramen Chinese restaurant next door and a police box on the opposite side (^^) It's very reassuring (laughs) When we entered, the place was quite crowded, about 80% full! Reservation was the right choice (^^) The interior of the restaurant gives a sense of age, they have been around for a long time, right? (^^) There are even big frames of shrimp, etc. hanging on the walls (laughs) Now, let's order! First, we toasted with Sapporo beer and Oolong tea (^^) We ordered tuna, squid sashimi, chicken skewers (miso flavor), chicken skewers (soy sauce flavor), pork skewers (salt flavor), fried octopus, potato fries, cheese tempura, hokke fish, pickles, seaweed tea pickles. The most delicious was the tuna sashimi rather than the chicken skewers! (^^)d It's so fresh! That's the basics of sashimi (^^;) On the other hand, the chicken skewers were also good! (^^) I was very curious about the miso flavor! (^^) Now, how does it taste? Yes, it's delicious (^^) It's delicious, but I feel like it's missing a little something... like a punch of miso flavor... (^^) But all the dishes were delicious, especially the pickles! (laughs) Pickles are always delicious, no matter what you order! There's a kind of equation in my mind about that (laughs) The owner and his wife, I guess? They work as a two-person team, but the dishes come out very quickly and it feels nice (^^) But I wish the chicken skewers came out a bit earlier... maybe? (^^) Then, I remembered to order "nira kimchi" and I want to try the "Masumi spicy hot pot" (^^)d I have a good feeling about it! (laughs) Oh, I also put a bottle of shochu in, so we can go anytime (laughs) By the way, there are many good restaurants on the east side, right? After all, the east has a lot of history! This is a popular izakaya in the eastern region that has been loved for a long time. It is located right next to the Higashi 3-jyo police box. The skewers here come in three flavors: "shoyu" (soy sauce), "shio" (salt), and "miso." While "shoyu" is a common sauce, "miso" is not often seen. However, the miso flavor here is delicious. The miso sauce with garlic goes well with pork rather than chicken. By the way, the "yaki udon" here also uses miso sauce. The atmosphere is lively with regular customers and locals, thanks to the friendly owner. This might just be my favorite izakaya to relax in.

I went with my work colleagues (^v^*)⌒★ The restaurant had counter seats and raised seating, with a cozy and homey atmosphere. It wasn't very spacious, but it was just the right size for a comfortable feel! I had chicken skin karaage, hot pot dishes, motsunabe, sashimi, tsukune, garlic fried, and fried chicken pieces with lots of cabbage! I ate a lot! I also had 5-6 glasses of draft beer, and it only cost around 3000 yen per person, so I felt the food was quite affordable. The staff were friendly, which was nice.

The restaurant is a bit far from the center of the station, but it's within walking distance for a second round after a few drinks. It might be tough in winter though (laughs). Many of my friends are fans of this place, so I was invited to have a party here. I was a bit surprised at first because the entrance was small, but once inside, there was a nice raised seating area with a hot pot already set up. It could accommodate around 10 people, so two groups could fit. We had a party course, and the amount of food that came out was a pleasant surprise. One of my friends recommended the "crispy chicken skin senbei" with lemon squeezed on top, which was delicious. The restaurant's name "Masumi" probably comes from the local sake in Nagano, although I'm not sure. There were a few customers at the counter enjoying sake. The place is run by a couple, so if it's busy, the orders might take a bit longer, but the atmosphere is very homely and nice. The prices were quite reasonable too. The reason we chose this place was because there is a police box nearby, emphasizing the idea of being able to walk here. There was no parking lot, so yes.
