I came to Daimaru Sapporo to buy rice... "Chino Komekoku-ten" has its main store in Higashi Ward, and I usually get rice from their "Maruyama Class" store. Buying brown rice includes the weight of the bran in the price, so it's about 10% cheaper to buy the product after polishing. There are many types to choose from, but I decided to get the "Special Cultivated Rice Miyagi Prefecture Sasanishiki" for 2,000 yen. I will cook it for dinner right away. When cooking rice with mineral water, instead of putting mineral water in the pot, soak the rice briefly in water to rinse off the bran before soaking it in mineral water. Since rice absorbs the water it was first soaked in the most, using good water for soaking results in a delicious final product... I heard this from a Japanese cuisine chef and have been doing it this way. The rice this time was quite delicious, but actually the best recommendation at this store is "Ryuno Hitomi"... You can tell by holding it that the grains are one size larger than others. It is a rare rice that is grown large without cutting it to the limit in autumn, with a high rarity value. It has a large grain size but is not bland, with a sweetness that makes it very delicious. Another favorite is "Shin no Koto," a new variety that has been sold for a few years now and is becoming more common in supermarkets. As a Japanese person, I like to be particular about rice. Thank you for the meal, I will visit again.

Due to a virus-related computer malfunction, the migration process to a new desktop computer has been completed. It took longer than expected due to it being my first time using Windows 10 and also because of health issues. Likes and comments are now back on. Thank you for your understanding. [January 2019] "Chino Rice and Grain Store" is a rice and grain store with its main branch located in the eastern district of the city. It has two branches, one being this "Daimaru Sapporo Store" and the other being the "Maruyama Class Store". At the "Daimaru Sapporo Store", the store had a small sales floor area and a limited number of products in the past. Upon visiting after a long time, I noticed that the store had moved to a new location with a significantly larger sales floor area. The new location was the space previously occupied by "Hokkaido Hoppé". The number of products had also greatly increased, offering a wide range of items for home use and gifts. They had also started selling side dishes that go well with rice. Additionally, they had set up a "rice milling facility" at the edge of the store. I visited for the first time after the renovation with my usual companion. This store is located in the JR Sapporo Station area in Chuo Ward, directly connected to the basement floor of JR Sapporo Station. For the exact location of the store, please check on Tabelog. They were offering "tasting samples" in front of the store. I tried one, and it tasted really good. Rice from a rice and grain specialty store is truly delicious. This time, I bought the staple rice for hand-rolled sushi at home. ■ Single Ingredient Rice Hokkaido-grown Ayahime "Low Amylose Rice" with a strong stickiness that retains its deliciousness even when cold. It has the highest stickiness among Hokkaido-grown rice varieties. It is softer than regular rice, so it is recommended to use less water when cooking. It is commonly used for soup curry rice. Packed in a vacuum-sealed bag, 300g (2 cups), priced at 540 yen (tax included). "Ayahime" is a low amylose rice with high stickiness. By the way, glutinous rice does not contain amylose. Regular rice tends to fall apart easily when making hand-rolled sushi. However, with "Ayahime," the rice and ingredients stick together well, allowing for a neat and elegant experience. Personally, I think "Ayahime" is a rice variety suitable for hand-rolled sushi. It comes in a 2-cup pack, making it suitable for small groups. The vacuum-sealed packaging prevents the rice from oxidizing and deteriorating. It is also safe from pests commonly attracted to rice. Rice is the basis of cooking. Rice from a rice shop provides a sense of security and trust. Hokkaido-grown rice offers a delicious and safe eating experience. I wonder which Hokkaido-grown rice I should try next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This is a rice shop located in the basement of Daimaru Department Store adjacent to Sapporo Station. I was looking to purchase a gift for a friend and came across a delicious-looking green onion miso, so I decided to buy it. The package reads "Farmhouse Specialty Green Onion Miso" and it is produced in Ogawa Village, Kamiminochi District, Nagano Prefecture. Known for its high salt consumption, Nagano Prefecture's products tend to have a rich flavor, making this green onion miso a perfect side dish for rice. It has a mature taste that may not appeal to children, but it is ideal for bento boxes.
