マーサ
Gallery cafe that is well-known as a gallery cafe. It's no longer just a cafe. With this spaciousness and the variety of food menu, it's not an exaggeration to call it a restaurant. The spacious area, the relaxed layout of the seats (there's even a second floor!), attracts refined ladies bringing in artworks for the gallery, housewives chatting over a meal, and gentlemen who want a well-balanced meal (whether they are single or not). The cafe offers daily bento boxes with two options each of meat and fish, and it's closed on holidays, except for around New Year's. Perhaps this is influenced by the fact that they alternate renting out the gallery for two weeks. They continuously hold exhibitions of pottery, toll painting, painting, printmaking, etc. without any breaks. This attracts groups who come to see the exhibitions. The groups I encountered had already decided to have a meal after finishing viewing the exhibition, and as soon as they sat down, the bento boxes were served. It turns out that this group exhibits at the gallery every year, and they had already reserved a spot for the following year, which was quite surprising. I know that there are many groups who want to exhibit here, but if they don't go to such lengths, they will have to find a new place to exhibit, which would be quite challenging. So, for today's bento, I chose the chicken karaage over the mackerel tempura. I usually tend to choose the zangi out of habit, but the flavors here tend to be similar (probably because the batter is pre-made, I guess. A lighter batter would be better), so I thought the mackerel tempura might be a good choice. Oh well. Looking around, there's a second floor, a raised seating area with sliding doors that resembles a private room, a counter, and various other seating options depending on the situation. This is amazing, isn't it? As I marveled at the surroundings, the bento was served. Opening the lid is always exciting, right? Oh, quite a nice presentation. It's a bit sad that there's no green color today, but it's still a decent selection. Fried chicken, shredded cabbage and cucumber, simmered dish (daikon radish, taro, pork), penne with tomato sauce flavor, white fish fry with shiso and cheese, simmered egg, orange, mountain vegetable simmered in light rain, hot spring egg (egg on top!), miso soup with seaweed and fried tofu, rice. And it comes with a drink during lunchtime, so I chose coffee. A good variety, and I was satisfied. Sometimes, I'd like to try a menu cooked on a hot plate. It's also convenient that they're open until 8 pm.
