Rokkatei "Snack Shop" Series Vol.5
July 7, 2013
I revisited the Ion Ebetsu store, which is a convenient shop that I always use. Last month, I was not feeling well and couldn't write a review, so I will include last month's review with this one. The "Snack Shop" series is a limited edition product released on the 7th of every month. You can reserve it at any store and specify where you want to pick it up. The snack for July was the "80th Anniversary Pudding Cake." The packaging with "Thank you for 80 years" was very tasteful, and I think the number of reservations was particularly high this time. Today's purchase:
Snack Shop July 2013 - Pudding Cake
A 12cm sponge cake soaked in caramel sauce and baked until moist. The texture is quite moist, resembling a bread pudding. The caramel part has a slight bitterness. There is no alcohol in it, just a simple cake to enjoy the flavor of eggs. Personally, I prefer it with alcohol, but this was a big hit with my family! It has a smooth texture and goes down quickly, disappearing in no time. I would definitely want to repeat this deliciousness when it appears in the Snack Shop series again. Thank you for the meal!
Rokkatei Snack Shop Series Vol.4
June 7, 2013
I revisited. The snack for June was a cold dessert. Even though I was feeling unwell that day, the refreshing cold sweets with a smooth texture were easy to eat even without an appetite and helped soothe my feverish body. Today's purchase:
Snack Shop June 2013 - 500 yen
A set of three cup desserts:
- Black Sugar Bean Kan: A syrup with a black honey flavor containing black sugar agar and red beans. It was quite sweet, but the flavor of black sugar was strong and very much to my liking. The beans were cooked slightly firm, providing a nice texture.
- Mango Coconut: Mango puree syrup with coconut-flavored agar and mango jelly. The sweet and sour taste of mango was refreshing, and the combination with coconut flavor was excellent.
- Mizuyokan in Cold Shiruko: My daughter's favorite, so I only had a taste. The mizuyokan had a smooth and soft texture. Each of the three cold desserts had various flavors and textures, and they were all very delicious. Thank you for the meal!
January 25, 2012 - First visit. Due to snow, I couldn't go far and ended up visiting a nearby store. This store opened in the fall of 2011 and is the only Rokkatei store in Ebetsu City. The store is new and has a bright atmosphere. Today's purchase:
Sakura Mochi - 380 yen: A sakura mochi with red bean paste and white and red colors. I tried both, and I think the red bean paste one was better. It was small, with a nice balance of saltiness from the sakura leaf and a soft texture, making it easy to eat.
Toyoshiro - 130 yen: A January snack. It was my first time trying it, and I really liked it. It is made with steamed potatoes, bacon, and onions wrapped in pie crust. Not too sweet, with a taste that makes you want wine. It's even more delicious when slightly warmed in a toaster oven. Although it's not a directly operated store, the selection is somewhat limited. However, the fact that they are open until 9 pm, unlike the directly operated stores that close at 7 pm, is appreciated. The service felt similar to that of directly operated stores. It had been a while since I last visited Rokkatei, but coming back and seeing the beautiful seasonal Japanese sweets, I was once again drawn to them. The cost performance is still good with reasonable prices. Since it's nearby, I will continue to visit this store. Thank you for the meal!
