I had sushi lunch at Sushi Takeya. It is located in the bustling downtown area of Honmachi, in a good location. The restaurant seems to have been around for a long time. There are 8 seats at the counter. I chose the 1000 yen course, which included 7 pieces of sushi: cucumber roll, hokkigai, scallop, flounder, tuna, shrimp, and tamago. Miso soup was also included. Being thrifty, I couldn't help but feel a bit unsatisfied compared to a 1000 yen worth of conveyor belt sushi. The quality of the fish was good though. This won't last me until dinner. The whale soup warmed me up. The head chef was a bit unfriendly. Thank you for the meal.

I visited "Sushi Chikutei" located a 2-minute walk from Goryokaku Koen-mae Station before 12:00 on a day in April 2019. The restaurant advertised lunch starting from 1,000 yen, so I decided to go in. There were no other customers inside. I sat at the counter and requested the 1,000 yen lunch. The chef prepared nigiri sushi and rolls for me. After a short wait, a miso soup with shrimp arrived. The nigiri sushi included flounder, scallop, and tuna, all very fresh and delicious. The tuna had just the right amount of fat. The kanpyo roll with wasabi was also tasty. The hand-rolled sushi with dried gourd strips was a unique Hokkaido dish. The miso soup with shrimp heads had a rich flavor and sweetness. Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of the 1,000 yen sushi lunch, although I felt it was slightly lacking in portion size. I would like to visit this place at night to try their sashimi and more sushi varieties. The owner managed the place alone, so there were some areas that could have been improved, but he was friendly and the atmosphere was good for a leisurely meal. The fact that they accept PayPay payment was also a plus.

The head chef here loves mountain climbing and is very particular about using fresh, high-quality ingredients. This attention to detail ensures that there are no disappointments in terms of flavor. They are also dedicated to beautifying the local area by cleaning the streets.

I went for a hike with a general who loves mountain climbing and we had a chat about mountains. For lunch, we left it up to the general and delicious sushi and drinks were served.

This year, I will enjoy the sushi from this restaurant again. Usually, many people come and it's lively, but this year it will be a quiet New Year's Eve with just my family. So, they reduced the quantity and improved the quality of the fish. The small sushi pieces are perfect for pairing with sake! The fresh fish is all delicious. But I also want to try squid and mackerel next year, so I hope to be able to eat a variety of things. Before 2015, I used to order sushi from a different restaurant, but I realized it had become this restaurant. It's located near my parents' house, but I've never eaten in the restaurant. I usually just drink without eating much, but this time I tried all the varieties for the first time. The rice balls are small, but I like the level of vinegar in them. I prefer when the vinegar isn't too strong. The fish is all fresh, and I'm happy that the sea urchin isn't treated with alum. I would like to try eating at the restaurant at least once.

Sushitei was featured in the May 2013 issue of Hanraku magazine as a recommended sushi lunch spot for women. The location of the restaurant is about 100 meters from the Goryokaku intersection towards the Goryokaku Tower direction, on the right side. It is on the first floor of a building with a clock tower on the rooftop, and there is a contracted parking lot across the road from the building. During lunchtime, the counter was almost full. The lunch menu options include 1000 yen, 1500 yen, and 2000 yen sets. The 1000 yen set includes 7 pieces of nigiri sushi, a small roll, and miso soup. The 1500 yen and 2000 yen sets come with side dishes and grilled fish instead of the roll. I chose the 2000 yen set, which included 7 pieces of sushi (mackerel, crab, scallop, whale, ark shell, salmon roe, sea urchin), simmered dried daikon radish, squid and marinated mackerel salad, grilled fish (Alaska pollock), miso soup, and pickles. The whale sushi looked like beef at first glance but had a unique texture and no unpleasant smell. The mackerel was fatty and delicious, and all the other sushi toppings were fresh and tasty.

After having a light drink, I felt like eating something and walked towards Goryokaku alone. There were a lot of young girls in the shops along the way, but I decided to save money. I found a sushi restaurant called "Sushichikutei" on the road from the tram stop "Goryokaku Koen Mae" to Goryokaku. There was only seating available at the center of the counter. The back area was lively too! The counter customers seemed quite drunk. I didn't order alcohol, just tea. I had the "Matsu" set sushi for 3000 yen. Normally, a 3000 yen meal is a luxury for me. Yesterday, I had revolving sushi for about 2200 yen with my daughter. From tomorrow, I'll have to do my best at the horse races! It all depends on my beloved horse! Two chefs were making the sushi. The 3000 yen set included 10 pieces. Personally, I think abalone is a sign of good sushi. Uni is delicious too. Each piece was tasty, but not exceptionally so. The chef's skill in shaping the sushi was impressive. I can't replicate that. I love the miso soup at sushi restaurants because it tastes so good. The flavor of the shrimp is irresistible. The sushi here is worth the price. It's mainly sushi for this trip to Hakodate! The location of this restaurant is good, so it must attract a lot of customers. Thank you for the meal. I also received 3 free admission tickets to Hakodate Racecourse (worth 100 yen each) next to the sushi case. Unfortunately, I forgot to use them on Saturday at the hotel.

I wanted to have sushi for lunch near Goryokaku, so I decided to visit this restaurant. I looked it up on Google Maps and found it to be close by. There were two lunch options available, and although I was going to choose the more expensive one, the staff recommended the 1,000 yen lunch set, saying it had more sushi pieces and was a better choice. It may not be the best business decision, but it was very kind of them. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and even the cucumber rolls, which I don't usually eat, were tasty and light.

I went to the restaurant for lunch with a local friend. The entrance looked old as the restaurant has been around for over 15 years, but we decided to give it a try because they had a good value lunch menu. Despite the old entrance, the interior of the restaurant was clean and had only counter seats. There was no loud greeting and the menu was not presented to us, so we asked how to order. The lunch options ranged from ¥1000 to ¥5000, but since we wanted to relax and enjoy our meal, we decided to order a la carte. We ordered cod with kelp, red clam sashimi for two, two glasses of draft beer, two glasses of rice wine (Taketsuru), the recommended Kiyomizu sake, and finished with sushi - I had salmon roe, crab, and sea urchin, while my friend had scallop, red clam, medium fatty tuna, and sea urchin. The total came to ¥19,000. The owner also brought out two additional dishes that we didn't order, which was a surprise. The bill was higher than expected, but the sushi was delicious.

I won't evaluate the cost performance since it was the company's money, but even if I had paid for it myself, I would have been satisfied with the taste. I don't come to Hakodate often, I'm not confident in my taste buds, and I don't usually eat delicious food, so maybe my evaluation is a bit exaggerated, but it was simply delicious. That's all there is to it. They also offer lunch, so if you want to keep it affordable, you can try that too. Why not stop by after visiting Goryokaku?
