Congratulations! Hokkaido Jalan 2021 Satisfaction Ranking Hotel Division 1st place award. I'm a sucker for the word "1st place." I visited using the new "Downtown Discount (Travel Discount)." Breakfast costs 600 yen if you request it separately when staying without meals. This time, I stayed for 3,000 yen (including breakfast) with the discount. Although this hotel has been ranked 1st, it is based on Jalan's customer satisfaction, not on Tabelog where it has a rating of 3.04 (as of November 2021). I didn't have dinner this time, but I heard that they use many products from Tomakomai, with a homely flavor, and that the dinner during this season is all about surf clams. I was debating whether to write from the breakfast review or the hotel review, but I decided to write from the hotel section. ☆ Check-in at 14:00 - Check-out at 11:00. This is great. The possible stay time is as long as at Ginkon-yu. Moreover, quoted from the official website - "For those who want to rest early, those who want to change clothes for a wedding, etc., please consult us in advance for check-in before 14:00. We will do our best to accommodate you." - End of quote. There may be an additional fee, but it's excellent. ☆ Parking Lot. Despite being in the center of Tomakomai, it's free. Free! The number of spaces is sufficient considering the size of the hotel. The area in front of the front desk is asphalt, but most of it is gravel, so it's advisable for owners of luxury cars to secure a parking space in front of the front desk in advance. ☆ Room. The room is thoroughly disinfected to the point where the disinfectant smell is noticeable. Since there is a window, I didn't mind it as I ventilated the room. There is no bathroom, but there is a washbasin, and the room, including the toilet, has a sense of cleanliness. The futon is already folded and the sheets are on, so you can use it by just spreading it out. This format would be good for those who want to rest immediately. In addition to the common floor chairs, there is a slightly higher semi-high chair? I would say it's at the right height, and I found it very user-friendly. The Wi-Fi password is easy to understand (laughs), it's fast, and I didn't experience any frustration with slow internet speeds for watching videos, which I sometimes encounter when using business hotels. The refrigerator is of a common size, and I have no complaints, but the temperature adjustment doesn't work (probably). If you want to chill beer to a frosty temperature, it would be good to bring ice from the commercial ice maker in the coin laundry space on the 1st floor. As for the room, there are no complaints. Regarding the view, I didn't expect much since it's right in the middle of the city, but there is enough distance between the neighboring buildings so it's not like the wall is right in front of you when you open the window, as in Sapporo's business hotels. ☆ Inside the Building. As I mentioned earlier, there is a commercial ice maker on the 1st floor, and it's nice that you can get as much ice as you want. It's not like the machine where ice falls only while you press a button (I wonder if you understand what I mean), which is common in business hotels. The ice from a commercial ice maker somehow feels like it doesn't melt easily, and that was good. The coin laundry is charged, but the detergent is free, which would be pleasing for long-term users. There is a comic space on the 2nd floor with about a few hundred famous pirate manga books. ☆ Public Bath. There is an indoor bath that can be used all night. They use "Radium Ore Artificial Hot Spring," and when I used it, the temperature was around 40 to 41 degrees Celsius. Since it's an artificial hot spring, it's nice that there is no bathing tax. There was a slight chlorine smell, but for a business hotel of this size, it's to be expected. There is only a men's bath, but there is a small sauna for about two people, and when I entered, it was a whopping 110 degrees!! The sauna was comfortable with an average temperature of around 100 degrees. It can be used until 11:00 pm. It's a bit regrettable that it can't be used in the morning, but it can't be helped. I had dinner at Soba Hana, and when I returned (after 9:00 pm), I was happy to be able to sweat it out. I spent the night comfortably, slept soundly, and woke up around 8:00. I took a quick bath. I went to the dining hall around 8:30. ☆ Breakfast. It's from 6:30 to 9:30, and you can go at any time you like. They said, "Please go ahead." When I looked around, there was no one there. I immediately realized that I was the last customer.

Breakfast at the hotel. It is a traditional Japanese-style hotel where you take off your shoes at the entrance and leave them in a shoe box. There was a temperature check at check-in. The room I stayed in was a Japanese-style room, but it had Wi-Fi and the internet speed was fast. The bath was a large communal bath where you could relax in the hot tub. There are supermarkets nearby like Tsuruha and Sekoma, so you can buy drinks for room drinking. The next morning, breakfast is served in the dining room from 6:30 am. It costs 600 yen if you reserve it the day before. There are no places nearby to have breakfast early in the morning (although there is a Yoshinoya about a 10-minute walk away), so I think it's better to have breakfast at the hotel if you are an early riser. When you sit at a table with a set of dishes, a staff member brings you side dishes, rice, and miso soup. The miso soup, rice, and tea are warm, but the side dishes are pre-made. On this day, the breakfast included saury, dried daikon radish, seasoned seaweed, natto, rolled omelet, satsuma-age (fried fish cake), persimmon, tarako (cod roe), and pickled daikon radish. The breakfast was decently tasty, and you can also serve yourself coffee, so I personally felt that 600 yen was not too expensive.

I stayed at a hotel in Tomakomai. It's called Hotel Sugita and it's about a 10-minute walk from the station. When I checked in, they recommended adding breakfast for ¥600 the next morning. Sounds good. I'll take the breakfast. I have a strict rule about starting time. I head to the dining room at 6:30. An older lady seems busy there. I choose a seat. While I go scoop rice with a bowl, she sets up side dishes and miso soup for me. Looks delicious. A regular breakfast is nice. Today's main dishes are mackerel, sausage, and scrambled eggs. The freshly cooked rice is good too. Natto and spicy squid guts support the rice well. The boiled vegetables are seasoned with a spicy flavor. They go well with the rice too. The hot miso soup is also good! The chopped green onions for the natto are a bit unusual. I'm full and the rice is tasty. Thank you for the meal. I feel like I can do a good job today too!

I couldn't update my history at all last year and the year has passed. Now, the breakfast I had at a ryokan that I personally love when I visited in November. Tourists may not be venturing out much in the current situation, but I was very satisfied with the variety and balance of this breakfast. It's different from what you would find in a typical restaurant, but the atmosphere of the trip served as seasoning and left a lasting memory.
