Looking back... The first time I visited Sushijin was on June 15, 2003. The day before, on June 14, around 8:30 PM, after finishing work, we were thinking about where to go for a gathering the next day. M.H (38), K.H (31), M.K (29), and K.S (28) were pondering when our junior K.S suggested Sushijin. We immediately made a reservation over the phone (even though it was around 9:30 PM). The hostess kindly said they were waiting for us and to come safely. It was a pleasant experience.
On the 15th, after finishing work, we headed straight to Sushijin. Despite the late hour, the couple welcomed us with smiles. We sat at the counter and ordered four draft beers. The freshness and taste of the beer were exceptional. The chef skillfully served a variety of fresh sashimi and seasonal dishes. The quality of the sushi was outstanding, and we were completely satisfied.
After a few beers, we were treated to a rare sweet potato shochu. We had a great time and enjoyed the hospitality of the chef and hostess. Since then, whenever I visit Hakodate, I always make sure to stop by Sushijin. The last visit was on September 7 and 11, 2011, where we enjoyed fresh seafood and the chef's expertly prepared dishes.
On July 27, 2012, I visited with friends and requested the chef's choice sushi, which was excellent. The grilled flounder, live squid, and other dishes were delicious and made us very happy. We look forward to visiting again.
On September 28, 2012, and October 3, 2012, we once again enjoyed the chef's selection of fresh seasonal ingredients, including live squid and grilled tuna collar. Our friend, Yoshida Motoki, also enjoyed the meal. We will definitely make a reservation when we visit Hakodate again. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience.
