After company-related meetings, I rarely visited the entertainment district of Kincho in my hometown of Tomakomai... However, I think it might be enjoyable to have a local drink once a month. This standing bar is convenient to use. - Trout roe pickled in salt: 800 yen - Highball: 500 yen x 2 The salted trout roe pickles are not too salty and go well with alcohol. It's quite popular with many regular customers, so it's bustling. It's a mature place where you can relax and enjoy yourself.

On this day, I casually went out for a drink in Tomakomai. Tomakomai drinking has become less common recently, but interesting new places have opened while familiar ones have closed down. This standing bar was a bit hard to spot from the main street, but it turned out to be a popular place. They only open from 4 pm, and the owner, who initially seemed intimidating, was actually welcoming. The bar was clean and had a good atmosphere, giving off a sense of being a well-established place. The beer was refreshing at 4 pm. The highball was made with original liquor and had a rich flavor. The herring sashimi was unexpectedly delicious, indicating they source good quality ingredients. I really liked this place. Tomakomai lacks a daytime drinking culture, with only a few chain stores around. This place is the only real bar for daytime drinking. When I asked the owner, he mentioned that their 4 pm opening time is convenient for business travelers and tourists. But I hope more locals from Tomakomai would also visit. The owner, who appeared tough but was very friendly, handed me his business card and said, "If you call, I'll open up if I can!" That's cool! Later, I found out that the tough-looking owner is a member of Sapporo's renowned ska rock band "Hige-Dan," playing the upright bass, known as Mr. Kaneda. I watched their music video on YouTube later, and it was really cool.

I was invited by a friend the other day and visited this place for the first time. The interior of the restaurant consists of counter seats where you stand while drinking. I had already eaten, so I ordered shochu with hot water. The customers were very friendly, making it a fun place to drink. It's a good place to use as a second stop for the night.

I went to Tachinomi King behind Smile Hotel, even though I was already full! I ordered a highball and some appetizers like tuna yukke and motsu stew. The inside was stylish with a retro stove and electric wires. I want to visit this place as my first stop next time!

After eating sushi and leaving the restaurant, the bright sky had turned into night. On the way back to the hotel, I noticed a small shop with a sign that read "Standing Bar King". I was surprised to see a standing bar in a place like this, as I hadn't noticed it when I passed by during the day. Out of curiosity, I entered the shop and was surprised to see that the two customers before me were women. The shop had a simple layout with a standing bar counter and standing tables, offering a variety of snacks including regular items and daily specials. Despite its small size, they had a selection of different types of sake. I started with a "Highball" (400 yen) and it came with an appetizer (300 yen) which was "Simmered Squid Legs and Chicken Gizzards" for the day. It was not too salty or sweet, just right and delicious. It was a versatile snack that went well with both the Highball and sake. As more regular customers arrived, mostly women, I felt the shop was getting crowded, so I decided not to order another drink and gave up my spot to the new customers. It seemed to be a popular spot after all. It was a good place for a quick drink before a meeting or as a last stop for those who haven't had enough to drink.

Visited the store around 8:30 PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. The shop is a bit dark, and you can only tell it's open by looking at the sign. Inside, there is a spacious area with only two seats at the counter and one standing table. Is this place a transfer? Is this space for events? Started with a highball (¥400). The appetizer (¥300) was beef tendon skewers in oden. Next, had a drink (¥500) from Kokuki. Ate some sausages (¥400) to fill the stomach a bit. There seemed to be various types of sake available that day, so tried the Tochigi, Iinuma Meijo "Sugata" Junmai Ginjo Unfiltered Namagenshu (¥600). It was a fruity and crisp sake. A charming and intriguing place.

Drinks with a good colleague. A retro atmosphere where you can relax and drink standing up. A glass of seared stingray fin. A glass of fried sardines. The first round is the best.
