Sapporo Food Center Maruyama Store is a local supermarket. This year marks its 50th anniversary since opening. It is now part of the Hokkaido Aeon Group. At some point, it became a 24-hour store, with the first floor selling groceries and the second floor offering clothing and miscellaneous items. Only the grocery section on the first floor operates 24 hours. I visited with my usual companion on a weekday. I was the driver (laughs). I bought some items, but the ones that mattered to me were the "fresh sushi" and "potato chips" (laughs). The rest were ingredients and seasonings. There was affordable fresh sushi, so I purchased that. Fresh Sushi (10 pieces): - Tuna (red meat) - Maybe baby squid - Salmon - Octopus - Shrimp (2 pieces) - Mackerel - Tuna sashimi - Flying fish roe - Seared salmon - Tamagoyaki (sweet omelette) Price: 378 yen (including consumption tax) The "fresh sushi (10 pieces)" is made with basic ingredients, not high-end ones. It costs 378 yen for 10 pieces, which is cheaper than 100 yen sushi at conveyor belt sushi restaurants. The quality is similar to 100 yen sushi. It's a reasonable price for enjoying at home. It's sufficient. The quality of supermarket or fish store sushi is gradually improving. It's affordable sushi for the common people. I look forward to trying more reasonably priced items next time.
