On Sunday for lunch, I had a sudden idea to visit a Japanese restaurant that I wanted to try. So, I went to Fukuzen. While there are many seafood restaurants in Kushiro, Japanese restaurants are not so common. They had a variety of set meals to choose from, making it a bit difficult to decide. I decided to go for the sashimi set meal (1500 yen + tax) which arrived in about 10 minutes. It included 5 types of sashimi, grated radish with ponzu sauce, pickles, miso soup, and rice. The sashimi consisted of squid, willow leaf shrimp, botanebi shrimp, herring, and tuna. Each piece was carefully prepared in a traditional Japanese way. The miso soup was delicious. The tuna was fresh, the botanebi shrimp was flavorful, and the herring and willow leaf shrimp were unique and tasty. I especially enjoyed the texture and taste of the herring. The menu of the day was written on a blackboard inside the restaurant, which made me want to come back and try more dishes next time. I would love to visit again for dinner and take my time to enjoy the meal. Thank you for the feast!

I visited during lunchtime. It's quite rare to see a Japanese restaurant in Kushiro. I ordered the lunch menu, which had a wide variety of dishes typical of Japanese cuisine.
