I was strolling around and saw some delicious looking fish paste products, so I stopped by to satisfy my hunger a bit. There were various options, but I chose the vegetable tempura. It was a seasonal tempura with pumpkin mixed in. The pumpkin was sweet and mushy, so it didn't really match well. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. 5.2

During a company trip in Otaru, I strolled around Sakaimachi Street. After enjoying soft serve ice cream and Danish pastries at "Le Tao," I came across a stall where they were frying various types of fish paste products like kamaboko, satsuma-age, and dried fish. I love all kinds of fish paste, especially when dipped in wasabi soy sauce or ginger soy sauce. It's perfect for a drink or as a snack. My colleague and I, despite having just eaten sweets, couldn't resist trying some. My colleague wanted octopus, but I thought squid would be more fitting for Hokkaido, so I opted for squid tempura. It was a bit pricey at 450 yen, but the portion was generous and the texture was satisfying with chunky squid meat inside. It was served on a skewer, so we ate it while walking, which may not have been the most elegant way, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I wished they had provided ginger soy sauce, but it wasn't included. I savored the chewy and flavorful squid tempura. Delicious! However, upon researching later, I found out that this shop is actually a chain from a Kyoto fish paste shop. It was still tasty, but slightly less exciting knowing it was a chain. They offer a variety of other fish paste products that could be a good option for a light snack.

- Memo - Bought a photo, forgot to take it <(_ _)> October 2021 Hokkaido trip - Otaru・Sapporo - ③As we stopped by various stores, it started to get dark. On our way to the station to return to Sapporo early, we came across "Houan Otaru Store" and decided to take out! When I looked it up on the website for posting, it said "Original walking tempura" Tempura ??? I guess they just call it "tempura" instead of fried tempura or fried kamaboko~ φ(..) Thinking about the taste, well... I don't think I'll go back next time... I forgot to take a photo too ⤵︎ Thank you for the meal.
