Located along the Rinkai Kitadori in Tomakomai City, there is a restaurant called Yamaoka-ya. I stopped by for dinner on my way back from a business trip to Muroran. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day and has a spacious parking lot shared with the neighboring convenience store, making it convenient to visit. The interior has counter seats and booth seats, and you can smell a unique pork bone aroma. Before taking a seat, you first purchase a meal ticket from the ticket machine. While there are limited-time menu items, I decided to go with the classic "Shoyu Negi Ramen (770 yen)" with firm noodles. It was ready in about 8 minutes. Yamaoka-ya's mild pork bone soup and thick noodles go well together, and although the taste may be slightly different from the original Yoshimura-ya, I personally find it the most delicious among Hokkaido-style ramen. The Negi Ramen, in particular, with its crispy texture of green onions, adds a nice touch and is very delicious. I believe that Yamaoka-ya's ramen is delicious no matter which branch you visit, but I find that the ones where you can smell the pork bone aroma taste even better (although it may just be my imagination). As the commercial song suggests, the flavor is addictive and makes you crave it occasionally, so if you haven't tried it yet, I recommend giving it a taste.

Tomakomai is a city with a lot of trucks. It is the logistics base of Hokkaido, so it is full of trucks from all over Japan. Tomakomai Funami store is located along a wide road about 5 minutes by car from Tomakomai Port, where large trucks can easily park. The store is open 24 hours and has showers. It is truly a shop that is conscious of working drivers. I visited on a weekday night and despite the full house and a few groups waiting, the turnover was fast and I only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. This time, I had the special miso chashu ramen, which is addictive and perfect for when you need a stamina boost. Once again, I was very satisfied!

The Yamaoka family occasionally craves it and often goes to various stores, but for some reason, this particular store feels especially delicious. The staff are also very friendly. It's crowded at lunchtime, but when they have work nearby, they go there almost 100% of the time (laughs)

After disembarking from the ferry, I drove to Tomakomai City and had my first rest at Yamagokaya in Hokkaido. After finishing my morning work in Tomakomai, I was driving on the highway when I saw a sign for the Yamaoka family's restaurant! I hadn't been there in a while, so I decided to stop by. I ordered the A set miso ramen (790 yen) and added the extra bamboo shoots using a Line coupon. While many people prefer soy sauce or salt ramen, I have always been a fan of miso. I like to sprinkle plenty of sesame seeds on my miso ramen when eating. It had been a while, but it was still delicious. Thank you for the meal.

It's always a delicious place with energetic staff, which makes it a pleasant experience. I often go alone, so I usually sit at the counter, but the atmosphere is just right for solo ramen dining! The green onions are a must for Yamagoya ramen! It's definitely a topping you can't go wrong with! Thank you for the meal!

Enjoyed a meal with good colleagues. After a night shift... Met with a regular at the Yamagoya restaurant, after 5... 6... 7... 8 years. Apparently, they always come when they are drunk, but they don't remember because they are intoxicated. Anyway, it's been a while... Special miso ramen was the only choice. Firm noodles, extra toppings, rich broth, and served hot. The usual taste... Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. When I'm not drinking, I'll come back again in a few years.

Ending a night of drinking with Yamaokaya ramen is the best, right? I ordered the Hell's Ultra Spicy Ramen! The name itself sounds intense... The appearance looks spicy, but surprisingly, it's not that spicy. It retains the deliciousness of the ramen while adding a good level of spiciness. It's not just about being spicy, which is a big plus. Eating Yamaokaya late at night (or early morning?) feels a bit sinful, but the satisfaction level is high. If this was helpful, save it! ✅

I visited Ramen Yamaokaya Tomakomai Funami Branch! It was kind of a brunch visit around 10 am haha. In Tomakomai, there are 3 Yamaokaya branches, but one of them is a bit different. The original Yamaokaya has 2 branches, both located at the ends. I ordered the soy sauce ramen for 690 yen, my usual custom of "normal, normal, normal." The staff here is really great at customer service, isn't it? I haven't been to all the Yamaokaya branches in Hokkaido yet, but... man, they're amazing. Also known as "Just Meat" haha. It was ready in about 7 minutes, the same old Yamaokaya ramen. The seaweed today is falling over haha. It's the reliable Yamaokaya ramen as always. The custom order was all normal, but it's a bit salty, which is characteristic of Yamaokaya. It's been a while since I had thick noodles, so I really enjoyed them. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere at Yamaokaya was great. The ramen was delicious, and it was a memorable experience at Yamaokaya. Thank you for the meal!

My son's wish was to open a soba restaurant, but unexpectedly he changed his mind. The soy sauce-based soup is rich and thick, with the noodles cooked firm - it's really good! The spinach and chashu pork have a high-quality taste. The fried rice here is completely different from other places, with a light touch in the seasoning and a hint of pepper fragrance. The yellow color comes from the egg, and the flavor is unique with a hint of western influence. There are no original menu items, but this restaurant is one of the best in Asari and Chitose.

I suddenly felt like eating at Yamakoya after wandering around Tanukikoji the day before. I ordered the Morning Ramen for 490 yen and a half portion of rice for 130 yen. The thin, firm noodles had a strong presence, and the light, hot salt soup from Yamakoya blended well with them. The flavor was well-rounded and satisfying without being too heavy. Adding a little plum paste gradually made it even more refreshing, providing a pleasant sensation for those who enjoy drinking in the morning. You can even order it right before they close at 11:00 AM. I actually prefer the morning ramen over the regular one!

Before getting off the ferry and heading to Furano, I was looking for a place to have breakfast since Marutoma Shokudo was not open. I found this place that is open 24 hours and had breakfast at 7 in the morning. I ordered ramen and half rice from the ticket machine. It's kind of like a house-style ramen, so I decided to have rice as well. The place was almost empty so I got my order quickly. The broth was thick and flavorful, with the noodles being slightly on the softer side but still firm. I wish it had a bit more chewiness. The chicken oil floating on top didn't have much aroma, but the broth had a good balance of pork bone and soy sauce flavors. The seaweed was a bit soggy, but it was fine to wrap it around the rice. It had been a while since I had ramen from Yamagoya, and I didn't expect it to be this good. It seems like they have evolved. I enjoyed my meal.

《July 2021 Revisit》 I had planned to try something different for breakfast that day, but I couldn't resist the urge to have "Yamaokaya's Morning Ramen". Honestly, I don't usually frequent "Yamaokaya", but their morning ramen served between morning and 11am at this 24-hour store is exceptional. I love the combination of Kyushu-style ramen with low water content, straight thin noodles and tonkotsu white broth. Personally, if Hokkaido miso ramen is the yokozuna of the East, then Kyushu tonkotsu ramen is the yokozuna of the West in my opinion. Yamaokaya's original "Morning Ramen" comes with toppings such as chashu, roasted seaweed, green onions (finely chopped), and plum paste, but customizing it has become a standard practice lately. The standard style includes additional toppings like seasoned egg, extra green onions (double toppings depending on your mood), and no plum paste, which is my favorite. I like plums but I don't think they go well with this ramen, so I feel like this accent is unnecessary for me. I've tried adding extra chashu before, but it was a bit heavy for morning ramen, so just a seasoned egg is perfect, and the vibrant green of the green onions and yellow of the seasoned egg are visually appealing and stimulate my appetite. To be honest, I'd like to try the morning ramen service and extra noodles, but it's a bit of a challenge for someone like me who claims to be on a diet. I purchased a ticket for miso ramen (670 yen) from the ticket machine. I ordered my ramen with firm noodles, extra fat, and strong flavor. The ramen arrived in about 5 minutes and it was delicious. Tomakomai specialty, located next to a needlessly wide 8-lane road, Mountainoka-ya is a restaurant facing the road. Next to it is a convenience store, and the parking lot is spacious enough to accommodate large vehicles. I tried the "Soy Sauce Spicy Negi Ramen" for the first time this time. The greasiness was balanced out by the green onions and spiciness, leaving a good aftertaste.

Sometimes I feel like eating at Yamaokaya. Set B, which includes ramen, gyoza, and half rice, costs 870 yen (tax included). It's a satisfying and reasonably priced option when I'm hungry. The ramen is the usual Yamaokaya quality, satisfying my cravings, but the gyoza is more like a bonus in terms of taste. It would be even better if the side dishes were more appealing.

Limited menu, extremely delicious miso ramen for 910 yen with extra green onions for 120 yen! The flavor was good but the ramen itself was lukewarm, and the extra green onions were still raw and spicy - disappointing! I usually order the spicy green onion ramen with extra green onions, but I don't want to be fooled by limited edition items and just want to eat as usual! LOL

On a certain weekday in January 2021, I escaped from Otaru before the highway was closed due to a blizzard and stopped by Yamachan in Tomakomai for a quick meal. - Morning Ramen (topped with black rose seaweed and flavored egg JAF) I ordered the default option with the noodles slightly firm, which was a good texture, but the saltiness was a bit strong, maybe it's the Tomakomai style? It's fine for lunch, but it might be a bit much for breakfast! I should have gone with the seaweed topping instead of the black rose seaweed! Because with black rose seaweed, you end up drinking it with the soup f^_^; I remember that this branch used to have a shower booth when I last visited, but it seems to be gone now. I tried the limited-time "G-style special bean sprout miso ramen with extra char siu" at Ramen Yamaokaya Tomakomai Funami-cho 1-3-3 (880 yen). The dish consisted of plenty of bean sprouts, green onions, garlic chashu, as well as sesame oil and grated ginger on top. With a JAF membership card, you can get 2 slices of chashu or a seasoned egg for free. I opted for the chashu, which the staff kindly offered to switch to char siu instead. It was my first visit to this branch, known for offering free showers to customers. The shower room is available upon request, especially for long-distance truck drivers. The shop's logo vending machine was from Coca-Cola. The ramen itself had a slightly thicker noodle than usual, with a rich and flavorful miso soup base complemented by the fresh toppings. The G-style special miso ramen started on November 16th, featuring a blend of red and white miso for a unique and robust flavor. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I recommend trying it during the cold winter months.

In September 2020, I decided to go on a spontaneous trip on the last day of a three-day weekend. I ended up heading to the Pacific side, specifically to Tomakomai for breakfast at Yamagoya. I tried their "morning ramen" with some customizations: added a flavored egg, extra green onions, and replaced pickled plums with pickled ginger. However, the flavored egg was too strong, the green onions didn't seem to be increased as requested, and the pickled ginger didn't quite complement the light morning soup. It seemed like the toppings were not well presented, with the egg completely submerged and the green onions scattered all over the bowl. Overall, I was disappointed with the lack of excitement in the presentation despite paying extra for the toppings. I salvaged the toppings for a photo and hope to try different toppings at another restaurant next time.
