食べ過ぎ太り過ぎ
For nearly four years, I took a break from posting on Tabelog due to hospitalizations. During this time, there have been various system changes, and now I feel a bit lost trying to navigate the review process. This is my second review in May 2018, and I have visited this restaurant multiple times, though this is only my second review.
Housenryu used to have branches all over the city, but this Twenty-fourken Ekimae branch is a franchise store. It is run by a veteran couple, and their specialty is the "Miso Ramen." The ramen has a taste that carries on the tradition of Showa-era ramen, with no excessive pork fat or strong flavors. It has a simple yet warm taste that reflects the personality of the husband and wife who run the place.
The noodles are medium-thick, curly noodles from Sagamiya Seimen in Sapporo. They have a subtle chewiness and are cooked to a unique, consistent level that is pleasing. The volume of noodles is generous, reminiscent of the past. The soup has a nostalgic flavor that is simple but with a strong miso taste. Adding garlic enhances the umami flavor. The soup is gentle on the body but has a solid miso flavor. There is a moderate amount of surface oil. The toppings like chashu are nicely fatty and juicy, as they are cut fresh each time. The abundant vegetables like bean sprouts, onions, and toppings like menma, wood ear mushrooms, and green onions are delicious.
The price is 700 yen (tax included), which is reasonable for a nostalgic ramen experience. The restaurant is run by the veteran couple who have their own unique style and attention to detail. They take their time and maintain their own pace. Their traditional way of making ramen with miso and soy sauce, stir-fried vegetables, and soup preparation is time-consuming but results in a delicious ramen that is worth it. The ramen has plenty of noodles, stir-fried vegetables, and is priced at 700 yen for miso, soy sauce, or salt flavors, which is a great value. There are no modern additions like flavored eggs, and the preparation remains traditional. I hope they continue serving this Showa-era ramen without changing. I wish them good health and longevity in their business. This is a rare opportunity to taste the flavors of the past. Thank you for the delicious meal.
