The lunch menu consists of two options: the daily special for 700 yen and Beef Curry. I visited this restaurant for the first time for lunch with my usual companion. The restaurant is located in the Sapporo Chuo Ward, in the basement of the Oak Sapporo Building. The place was not crowded when we arrived around 11:30 am on a weekday. We were seated at a table promptly and ordered the daily special for both of us. The food arrived within 2 minutes, impressively fast! The daily special included grilled horse mackerel with deliciously fatty meat, a side dish of tofu and minced meat in a gentle Japanese flavor, a salad, pickles, and miso soup. The meal was well-prepared and served hot, with warm seaweed rice. Overall, it was a satisfying and reasonably priced lunch. The highlight was the large grilled fish, perfectly seasoned and cooked. The quick service and quality of the food made it a convenient and enjoyable dining experience. I look forward to trying the daily special again next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Located right near the Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater. Many dishes that go well with sake. - Assorted sashimi: surf clam, Ezo abalone, scallop, tuna, octopus. The abalone was surprisingly crunchy, while the surf clam was softer. The scallop was a bit firm. There were more shellfish than fish, which was a bit disappointing for me since I prefer fish. - Grilled Okhotsk Atka mackerel: very Hokkaido-like and delicious. - Special crab dish: includes crab miso, very tasty. - Uni and salmon roe rice bowl: Uni is expensive now, but it was delicious. - Oysters (steamed, wine-steamed, grilled): the oysters were plump and large, and the best was the wine-steamed one.

Sea urchin was priced at 13,500 yen. It was about the size of my palm and I ate it all in one bite. When I asked the staff, they said it was from Rishiri. The color of the sea urchin was beautiful and the taste was rich and delicious.

The seating was in private rooms, providing a calm atmosphere. The course meal exceeded expectations, with a great selection of sake that complemented the dishes well. The uni was fresh and delicious, sourced from Rishiri, and the crab, uni, and oysters were all from Hokkaido and of high quality. The sashimi was excellent, and dishes like chawanmushi and simmered dishes were also enjoyable. I would definitely visit this restaurant again if I have the chance to go back to Hokkaido.

I was stood up a few times before, but today I arrived just in time for the opening. I was the first one in. I was seated and asked about the daily special right away. Without hesitation, I ordered the daily special set meal for 700 yen. After me, more people started coming in, and everyone ordered the daily special set meal as well. Today's special was salmon fry and minced cutlet. They warned me that it was hot when it arrived. It was indeed piping hot – the miso soup was the hottest I've ever had for lunch, and the salmon fry was also scorching. I had to be careful while eating, but it was delicious. The rice was cooked perfectly. I'm curious about the beef curry as well. If the taste is this good, I can understand why they only serve lunch until 1:00 pm. Thank you for the meal.

It was just past 12 o'clock and I peeked in to see if there was still lunch available. Luckily, they were still serving. The fish lunch set was 700 yen, with a sweet vinegar sauce. The set included a salad, side dishes, and the main dish neatly arranged on a tray like a puzzle. I was happy to see so many dishes. The salad was always fresh and crunchy. The miso soup was piping hot, so be careful not to burn yourself. The main dish had a generous amount of vegetables in a sweet vinegar sauce. There were enough vegetables to fill a whole bowl of rice. The fish was tender and delicious. I also enjoyed the konjac and cod roe salad, which I like but rarely make at home because it's hard to finish. The stewed Chinese cabbage and glass noodles had a unique taste that I couldn't get enough of. I wish I knew the seasoning they used. In between bites, I enjoyed the pickles. The meal had a good balance of flavors.

Anyway, everything was delicious. The chawanmushi was filled with crab meat, and the crab shell was packed with crab meat as well. I tried simmered cherry trout for the first time. I usually decide what I want to eat before choosing a restaurant, so I don't often try the daily specials. The lunch options at this restaurant are daily specials and curry. Today's daily specials were A: Salted Chicken Karaage for 700 yen, B: Oyster Takikomi Gohan and Tonjiru set for 700 yen (only 6 servings left), and C: Curry Rice for 500 yen. I arrived just before the 11:30 opening time and managed to get the B set as one of the last customers. The food was served promptly. The oyster takikomi gohan had 4 oysters and included ingredients like shimeji mushrooms, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, konjac, and scrambled eggs. The flavor was a bit light, but still delicious. The tonjiru was hot and had a rich taste, with ingredients similar to those in the rice. It was tasty, although the soup portion was small. The side dish was tofu with nameko mushrooms, which was also very delicious. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and the restaurant had good COVID-19 precautions in place. (2022.02)

The set meals here sell out quickly. When that happens, go for the curry. It's quick to eat and easy. The curry has a slightly thin consistency. The fried onions are crispy. The spiciness kicks in afterwards. It's so easy to drink it down that you have to be conscious to chew. It's also nice that it's just one coin.

While the old man was checking the menu, the man quickly disinfected and took his temperature before entering. And he came at a time when he could definitely eat. He seems to be a regular customer. The temperature check device is a type that shades the palm, which is not often seen. As a solo diner, I was guided to a small counter seat in the back on the right side of the entrance, with two rows of three seats each. It's a layout where you face each other with your backs. It's nice to have partitions. It's a narrow area at the back, so it would be even better if ventilation was considered, but it's difficult to design. I came here looking for a quick meal at a soba restaurant, but oh, Sugino still has set meals available. The curry is sold out. They sell out quickly here. I'll go with the set meal. As I sip on my tea and take a breather, the meal arrives soon after. It's quick, which is convenient. The surface is crispy, while the inside is juicy and delicious. It's nicely grilled and the rice is tasty. The salad is refreshing and the side dishes are also delicious. I visited multiple times in pursuit of the perfect sea urchin dish in Shakotan. Sea urchin bowl in Shakotan, purple, 2750 yen (limited service item). Today's sea urchin was very salty and disappointing. At this price, it's unavoidable to have a disappointing experience, but it's a shame because it was delicious last time. Looking forward to the sea urchin season in Shakotan next year!

I went out to the countryside in the morning and just got back, it's already lunch time. I still have work to do after this, so I shouldn't drink too much. I decided to revisit the basement of Sapporo Oakville where I had soba the other day. The Japanese restaurant I was aiming for had a sign saying "Today's daily lunch is not available, sorry," but next to it, there was a small note saying "Curry is available." So, I decided to go with the curry. The interior of the restaurant was intricate, with several small raised tatami tables and a counter seat for solo diners by the entrance. I sat at the counter seat facing the wall in a cozy room with 6 seats for solo diners. A waitress soon came over and I ordered the "regular size curry for 500 yen." The tray arrived in about 5 minutes, with curry, salad, tea, water, fukujinzuke, and a spoon. The salad consisted of lettuce with a dressing that had a tangy yuzu-like acidity. The curry had a rich flavor, although personally I felt it was a bit too salty. The rice was cooked firm and went well with the curry, but I felt like there wasn't enough rice. The curry had chunks of beef and a strong beef broth flavor, making it a good deal for the price. More customers started coming in, mainly local office workers. If you ever feel like having curry for lunch near Sapporo Station or Odori, I recommend giving this place a try. Next time, I'll try the daily lunch menu. Thank you for the meal.
