It was a very hot day! I visited the Sapporo Racecourse for the first time. It was fun to watch the horses running right in front of me. I was feeling hungry but didn't know where to eat. I peeked into the food court. There is also a restaurant on the second floor, but I chose a quick option and had a Genghis Khan rice bowl. The taste was spot on, just like the one I often had at the Sapporo Dome. I want to do a bit more research on food before visiting the racecourse again! Used in July 2023.

This is a shop in the food court at the Sapporo Racecourse. I felt a bit peckish, so I decided to have a light drink and snack. I ordered fried takoyaki and a highball. Fried takoyaki cost 500 yen, highball cost 400 yen. When it arrived, the highball was okay, but the fried takoyaki was a bit disappointing. It seemed to be a frozen product, lacking in flavor and volume. I thought since it's from the famous Ginza Lion, it wouldn't be strange, but it turned out differently. Maybe this is what you can expect at a racecourse food court. PS This food court is a stand-up style, but depending on where you sit, you can see the racetrack, so you can enjoy your meal while watching the races. That's a nice advantage. Thank you for the meal.

Sapporo Racecourse. Yesterday, the Sapporo Kinen GII was held, so it was crowded! I didn't realize that the opening time was early, so when I went at a normal time, there were no seats left. I had to endure the scorching sun from morning. As a result, my arms got badly sunburned and are stinging! I didn't expect the weather to be like this, so I didn't bring any sunscreen. For my low-carb diet, I had a morning walk and drank healthy green tea. For breakfast, I had low-carb bread, low-carb sugar-free yogurt, and salad before heading out. For lunch, I searched for something with low carbs at the racecourse, but the only option was fried chicken. I found the smallest portion available. I found it! Fried chicken from Lion! It cost 500 yen. Isn't that expensive for just this? Oh well, can't help it. The taste was soft, juicy, and delicious fried chicken. I wish there was a bit more. I also had tea and coffee in a PET bottle. At night, I was really hungry, so I ate pork shabu-shabu to my heart's content and had two cups of tea. After taking a bath, I found yuzu sherbet at Seicomart. It had less than 15g of carbs. I ate quite a bit on my low-carb diet, but the result was a weight loss of -0.2kg compared to the previous day, with a total of 3.8kg lost! Now, I have more social gatherings ahead. Will I be able to continue losing weight? Thank you for the meal! ^_^

I will walk for about 20 minutes to visit the "Sapporo Racecourse" currently being held in Sapporo. I'm sorry, but I have no interest in horse racing at all. When I arrived, it was before the fourth race. I'm a little puzzled that I have to pay 100 yen for admission even though I'm not going to bet on the races. I went down from the second floor "Kazuki" to the first floor, and the second place I visited was "Sapporo Lion". They serve fried food such as fried chicken, fried squid, pork cutlet sandwich, and french fries. I decided to skip the beer and ordered the pork skewer grill for 350 yen. I paid at the counter and the food was quickly served from the hot corner. I stood at the stand in front of the sales area and enjoyed my meal while watching the local horse racing broadcast, even though I still don't understand much about horse racing. The meat was pork loin, skewered on a long stick with a wiener sandwiched in between, which was a new pattern for me. The seasoning was on the ketchup and sauce side, a bit on the heavier side. I wish they had served some white rice. The rain had stopped, so I went to check out the course a bit.

◆◆◆◆◆◆【4th Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆【October 2015】Visited a few times this year, once again had the "Sapporo Black Label Large." As expected, morning beer tastes delicious!◆◆◆◆◆◆【3rd Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆"Sapporo Black Label Large"【September 2015】Visited a few times this year, always getting two large beers with a friend. The only place to get beer to go inside the racecourse is this Ginza Lion. Details on Sapporo Black Label can be found in the previous review. Goes perfectly with "bento," "curry," "okonomiyaki," and "fried chicken." Morning and afternoon beers are the best!◆◆◆◆◆◆【2nd Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆Moved indoors due to renovation【August 2014】This is my second post, so I'll keep it brief. The JR Sapporo Racecourse has been undergoing renovations for the past two years. Last year, there were no races held due to this. The new Sapporo Racecourse opened on July 26th. The food court shops started operating a little before that. The "Lion" used to be located near the paddock. The area in front of the shop used to be a park. Due to the renovation of the racecourse, the greenery has decreased significantly, replaced by concrete. As a result, the "Lion" moved to the food court. Unfortunately, they no longer grill Genghis Khan outdoors, which was a great experience with the combination of "blue sky," "greenery," "Genghis Khan," and "draft beer." Now they only offer pre-cooked Genghis Khan as a snack. They still sell yakisoba and fried chicken as before. Ramen and dining menu items are no longer available. It has become a fast food shop. Had the "snack Genghis Khan" and "Sapporo Black Label Large." The Genghis Khan was lukewarm, and I wish they served it piping hot, as it would make the beer taste better. Hoping for the day when we can grill Genghis Khan outdoors again.◆◆◆◆◆◆【1st Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆Morning beer and morning curry make for a great breakfast in the hot summer【August 2012】This summer in Sapporo is hot. In the mornings, I crave curry. There is a spot where you can enjoy authentic Indian curry from 9 am on weekends only. The mobile food truck, Tandoori-go, comes to a place that has produced many dramas in the past. There was also the mobile food truck of the popular soup curry shop "Rakkyo." For breakfast, I had Indian curry from Tandoori-go, soup curry from Rakkyo, and half-fried chicken from Otaru Naruto

Anything and everything, even a normal lion, stands out in Ginza, it's Ginza! It's the Ginza! It's higher than Roppongi, and if it's Akasaka, it's geisha, but Ginza is all about clubs. The owner of a long-established standing soba shop in Sapporo was entertained at a club in Ginza and got carried away, eventually being swindled out of his hard-earned fortune. Ordinary people should never go to Ginza. So, before the main race begins, I got a ticket for the 10th race with jockey Yutaka Take on Nekotasho, and celebrated with a beer with my friend. I don't really feel like drinking during the day, but it's already three o'clock, and we're heading straight to an izakaya afterwards, so let's start with one drink! All the beers sold here are 410 yen, not particularly cheap or delicious just because it's a Sapporo Beer directly managed store. Today, my friend also won thanks to my coaching, so it's a thank you beer, apparently. There seems to be Genghis Khan donburi available here for Hokkaido customers, but I absolutely refuse to eat such a disgusting dish. But for some reason, I always end up buying beer here. Perhaps it's because it's Ginza... In the end, I lost in the main race and got cold feet in the final 12th race.

Sapporo, 24-ku - Kuwon area. The Sapporo Racecourse is set to have a grand opening this weekend on July 26th after being renovated. The building is all new with a Snow White exterior that represents Hokkaido, and the upper floors protrude diagonally more than the lower floors, giving it a powerful appearance. The 1st and 2nd floors are for general seating, the 3rd floor is for reserved seating, and in addition to a large stand, there is a 120m terrace deck called "Moiwa Terrace" on the 2nd floor where you can overlook the entire course. There is also a space called "Makiba Garden" where you can interact with horses. The grass on the ground where the horses run is very beautiful and shines under the summer sky. The facilities inside the new and beautiful racecourse also include restaurants and a food court that have been renovated. There are also facilities for families to enjoy, such as a free kids' room and a space for children to eat. The "Ginza Lion" in the food court on the 1st floor offers a variety of menu items, with beer being the main focus. They serve Sapporo draft beer, black label draft beer, and soft drinks like cola, juice, lemon squash, and ginger ale. The food menu includes chicken tempura and potato set, bacon and cheese set, sausage and potato, among others. They also offer dishes like pork cutlet sandwich, sauce yakisoba, takoyaki, Genghis Khan bowl, and Genghis Khan curry. I tried the Genghis Khan bowl which was flavorful and filling. The atmosphere at the racecourse is bright, open, and clean, making it a fun place for families to enjoy. The racecourse will officially open on July 26th with horse races, and it promises to be an exciting experience for visitors.

I enjoyed lunch at the food court at the newly reopened Sapporo Racecourse after 20 years. There was a Ginza Lion outlet where you can enjoy various types of food. I tried the "Genghis Khan Don" for 550 yen, which had a generous amount of seasoned Genghis Khan-style meat. There were a few chewy parts that bothered me, but I enjoyed it more after adding the sauce provided and snacking on the potatoes. It was enough to satisfy my hunger in between horse races. If you have a small appetite, the Genghis Khan Don alone might be sufficient.

In Sapporo Racecourse, there are various places to eat such as a shop selling delicious duck soba and a restaurant called Fugetsu. This is a branch of Ginza Lion located on the left side after entering the racecourse. I have used it a few times to change my mood when I have been losing in horse racing. Honestly, the menu is a bit pricey, but it's a good place to relax because you can take your time. I have even won a big prize by reevaluating my predictions while sipping beer here after a streak of losses (laughs). There are also seats outside, so enjoying a beer while looking at the distant paddock is not bad at all.
