At the Kobayashi's Koyanagi Store in Toyooka, they have a few types of this store's products available on certain days of the week. I tried the grass daifuku. I like daifuku with smooth red bean paste. It was a delicious grass daifuku. The mugwort flavor is not too strong, making it easy to eat.

This is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop located in Asahimachi, Asahikawa City. Their specialty is "mochi sweets," and recently their "Mont Blanc Daifuku" has been gaining some attention. I don't know the exact number of sales, but I pass by around 10:30 am. Since they open at 8 am, I thought they might be sold out by then. However, when I asked the owner, there were three left in a small black refrigerator in the store. I decided to buy all three as they would make great souvenirs. The "Mont Blanc Daifuku" (256 yen) has red bean paste and chestnut filling inside. There is a generous amount of chestnut, and the Mont Blanc part is cream made from chestnuts, similar to the cake. The taste is as expected, a fusion of Mont Blanc and chestnut daifuku, with a Western twist that surprisingly tastes delicious. Another popular item I bought was the "Nama Choco Daifuku" (170 yen for 2 pieces). The filling inside is chocolate cream, which may be a bit sweet. It is topped with plenty of cocoa powder, giving it a bitter taste. The cocoa powder is quite dominant, making it taste more bitter than expected. I also bought the all-time favorite "Hitokuchi Potato Daifuku" (38 yen for 1 piece). The filling is sweet potato paste with a potato flavor. It has a slightly salty taste, making it easy to eat as it is not too sweet. This shop has been around for a long time, and I remember buying from them when they used to come to our office area for sales. Despite the competition from a popular confectionery shop nearby, they have managed to stay in business by offering unique and delicious treats.

I went on a trip to see the SL in Nayoro, and now I'm heading to Asahikawa. Near the center of Asahikawa, my wife spotted a small sweets shop that piqued her interest. It's easy to miss at first glance, but it's a well-established shop called "Murakami Kashipyo." We've tried their rice cakes and traditional Japanese sweets before, but this is our first time actually going inside the shop. We bought some sweets for the upcoming Buddhist memorial service, including ohagi and pumpkin manju. Ohagi is a type of rice cake that we had yesterday as well. We also got some triangular sweetened beans mochi for my colleagues at work. The ohagi had a refined texture, and the sweetness of the red bean paste was just right. The pumpkin manju is a classic old-fashioned sweet with a delicious pumpkin filling. It was a great find, and we'll definitely visit again if we have the chance. Thank you for the meal!

Whenever I go to Asahikawa, I always make sure to stop by this shop. The staff is very polite, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. They always give me small sweets or rice cakes when I make a purchase. It's a shop that I always want to visit whenever I'm in the area.

The daifuku mochi here is amazing. I ordered mochi for my parent's funeral before, and I remembered how delicious it was.

It's Asahikawa, I'm alone and wandering around for as long as time allows. My mind is not working well, so I'll rely on my physical strength. "Mame Daifuku" is also on the list, so I decided to check out "Murakami Kashido." When I arrived, I saw "Red Rice?" No way! Why would they write "Red Rice" on the window when Mame Daifuku is listed? I decided to enter from the front, as entering from the side or back entrance is not something for us common folk. The store looked big from the outside, but inside it wasn't that spacious. Maybe the factory is big? There were no Mame Daifuku on the plate labeled "Mame Daifuku." It was just a card... What a disappointment. The sign claiming "Mame Daifuku used to be here!" is unnecessary. When I asked if they were out of Mame Daifuku, the old man apologetically confirmed. I like Tsubu-yaki. "Red Rice too?" I had to ask, even though I knew the answer. "Yes, I'm sorry." I felt bad for pressuring him. I ordered "Inakibi" and "Kusa no Daifuku." I ended up eating them myself. The Kusa no Daifuku was small, but I only ate half and saved the rest. It didn't have a strong mugwort flavor, but it was delicious. The mochi was not just soft, it was flavorful, with a perfect balance of salt and a nice grassy taste. The anko filling was smooth, not too sweet, and enjoyable. This is delicious. The Inakibi had a nice texture with visible grains. As someone else said, "If it's Tsubu-an, there's nothing special," but this was good.

I happened to find and buy a bite-sized potato daifuku at Asahikawa Station. It looks round and cute♪ It was very cheap, but when I looked it up online, it costs 32 yen each. No wonder. The soft and fluffy texture is great, and the smooth red bean paste inside is delicious. And it really tastes like potatoes (of course). Potatoes are sweet and delicious, aren't they... Since it's bite-sized, I couldn't help but reach for more. It disappeared in no time. It's so easy to eat that it's dangerous haha.

The other day, I visited a few places in Asahikawa, including Ichikyu, Marukita, and Murakami Kashiho. These three places are within walking distance of each other, making it convenient to explore. During my visit, I stopped by Murakami Kashiho, the 44th stop on the Asahikawa Sweets Stamp Rally. Located in Asahikawa City, this traditional shop offers a variety of familiar and unique sweets. I tried their Potato Daifuku for 32 yen and Edamame Manju for 108 yen. The Potato Daifuku had a subtle potato flavor, while the Edamame Manju had a delicious edamame filling. It's interesting to see how even long-standing shops like this one continue to innovate and offer new treats. Overall, I was impressed by the quality and affordability of their sweets.

This is the second traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Asahikawa, "Murakami Kashipan". It is located across from Ikkyu Daifuku-do main store. The exterior has a traditional Japanese confectionery shop feel, making it inviting. Inside, the shopkeeper is seen chatting with regular customers, giving off a sense of being rooted in the local community. Their recommended item, the Potato Daifuku (\32), caught my eye. As the name suggests, it is a bite-sized daifuku made with potatoes. The potato filling inside has a slightly Western sweetness, similar to mashed potatoes. The mochi outer layer also has a hint of butter and a subtle saltiness, creating a unique taste. It was enjoyable to have a bite-sized treat. The Azuki Bean Daifuku features plump azuki beans in each piece. The mochi outer layer is slightly elastic and soft, while the homemade azuki bean paste inside has a gentle sweetness. The black beans add a nice texture, although they are not salty. The Endo Manju is a manju made with endo beans, giving it a rich and satisfying taste. They offer a variety of other Japanese confectioneries, making it an interesting place to visit. Despite being a local shop, the taste is reliable and comforting.

What's the name of this? Red and white manju? How many years has it been since I last had it? Haha, it's delicious when you have it occasionally. The red bean paste inside is just the right amount of sweetness with a hint of saltiness. It's moist and the balance with the skin is good. For some reason, I always end up choosing the pink one. Anyway, I want to congratulate myself. Thank you for the meal.

This is a snack on the way back from Asahikawa! I have a party in Susukino after a day trip. But I can't perform well with just a large bowl of ramen and char-mayo donburi for lunch. I bought it at Asahikawa Station! Murakami Kashiya is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Maintaining a store for 50 years is because of the unchanged deliciousness! I bought it with confidence. I will eat it on the JR train right away. When my stomach gets empty, I'll have a bite of daifuku~. The sweet potato and mochi inside are delicious in a good balance! This size is dangerous. I quickly finished it. I should have eaten it more slowly (laughs). It was a delicious snack. Thank you for the meal.
