The food is delicious no matter what you order! However, the staff can be a bit rough. They even scold each other in a strict tone. Menu items without prices listed are surprisingly not cheap, so it's best to ask. Also, the portions are large so it's recommended to order for at least 3 people.

I went on the first day of arrival in Obihiro. Of course, the grilled dishes were delicious, but the raw dishes such as scallop sashimi and engawa were also very tasty. This time we had a table, but next time sitting at the counter may allow us to enjoy this restaurant even more. The atmosphere is great, and I highly recommend the charcoal-grilled dishes.

A powerful restaurant run by three ladies! It was my first visit to Obihiro. We went to a cozy robatayaki restaurant near the hotel. We started with scallop and engawa sashimi, and as you can see in the photo, a huge amount of sashimi was served. It was incredibly sweet and delicious. Then we had grilled hokke and zangi, and we were satisfied. Just when we thought we were done, the mama said, "Leave the hokke skin, we'll make ramen with it at the end." The ramen was a rich shrimp-based broth, and it was so delicious that I felt they could open a restaurant just with that. It was amazing!

Today's dinner was at "Robata Uozen" in Obihiro City. After indulging in Obihiro's gourmet dishes, such as Genghis Khan and two bowls of pork rice, my stomach was full and the satiety center in my brain was signaling. However, I didn't want to miss out on enjoying Obihiro's night life, so I maintained my traveler's spirit. I thought it would be impossible to get a seat at the popular "Robata Uozen," but miraculously I managed to slip into a spot at the counter. As I looked at the food menu, I noticed that the appetizers cost a whopping 700 yen. On the counter, there were various appetizers like asparagus bacon and hokke lined up, each looking delicious and hearty. This was the best place to enjoy Hokkaido gourmet food in a grand manner. I started with a chu-hi (500 yen) and at the same time, the appetizer "Scallops with mayonnaise dressing (700 yen)" was served. "It's a huge portion!! And it looks so delicious. It's on a different level compared to regular appetizers." The large scallops looked appetizing. I tried one and found it a bit tough but tasty. After finishing my chu-hi, I switched to an oolong highball. By the time I finished my oolong highball, I had enjoyed two scallops. My brain and stomach couldn't accept any other food. Finally, I reached the limit of my stomach...

I had always wanted to go to Robata Uozen, so I made a reservation by phone two weeks before the visit! It's essential to make a reservation in advance as it's difficult to get a table on the day of. The restaurant opens at 5:30 pm, and upon arrival, there were already other customers there. We ordered: - Tamagoyaki (500 yen) - Grilled squid (1000 yen) - Natto and fried tofu (500 yen) - Scallop sashimi Additionally, the restaurant served pickles as a complimentary dish. I had a plum wine sour as my drink, which was refreshing and easy to drink. The chef, Tsuneko-san, was diligently preparing the various dishes, and the teamwork was impressive. The food kept coming to our table one after another! The tamagoyaki was slightly sweet and fluffy, perfect with alcohol. The grilled squid and natto fried tofu were cooked slowly over the grill, enhancing their flavors. I recommend adding a bit of soy sauce to the natto fried tofu. The grilled squid came with mayonnaise, and adding shichimi spice made it even more enjoyable. The highlight of the day was the scallop sashimi, which was incredibly large and fresh. It was a delight to savor such high-quality scallops. All the dishes were generous in portion size, which was satisfying. In the restroom, I noticed many customers' business cards and lovely letters, indicating that the restaurant is well-loved by many. I look forward to trying different dishes on my next visit! Thank you for the delicious meal.

On the second day of my trip to Obihiro, after the Ban'ei Horse Racing, I visited a restaurant. I had contacted them in advance because I didn't want to risk not getting a seat due to the late hour. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with around 10 seats at the counter and 2 small raised tables. The counter was beautifully decorated, and you could see the ingredients for grilling. We started with a delicious appetizer of white miso salad. The scallops sashimi was huge and incredibly flavorful. The fried minced cartilage was crunchy and tasty. The buttered mushrooms were a classic dish. The grilled flying squid skewers were a unique treat. The grilled silver cod jaw was recommended by the owner and was absolutely delicious. The pickles were a nice addition to the meal. The grilled silver halibut fin was a revelation in taste and texture. The seaweed salad was refreshing. The simmered octopus was tender and flavorful. The ramen made with silver cod broth was a hidden gem on the menu. The grilled rice balls were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The portion sizes were generous, so be careful not to over-order. The bill came to 15,800 yen, which seemed reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience that I would highly recommend.

Each dish had a good portion size. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, but the grilled fish was incredibly juicy and tasty. We also received complimentary side dishes, which made us very happy. Personally, I recommend the grilled fish and sweet potato mochi. I've never had such crispy and fluffy mochi before. Grilled dishes are tastier than fried ones. I will definitely go back when I visit Obihiro again.

I ordered scallops, braised pork, and enoki mushrooms, and they were all generously portioned and delicious. The sizes of each dish were also very large, and I was very satisfied. I had sake with my meal, and while the selection was not as extensive as some other izakayas in Obihiro, the food was so good that I overall had a great experience.

I ran into a great izakaya with snow piled up outside. This wonderful establishment represents Tokachi well, offering not only agricultural products but also good fish sourced from various routes in Hokkaido. They even made ramen using hokke fish skin, which was truly delicious. It was a delightful experience. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I was amazed by the portion size at this restaurant. The scallops were huge, and I couldn't believe I had only ordered one serving. Each dish that came out after that was also impressive. The seafood from Hokkaido was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant is run by three sisters, and they had a sign on the wall with the daily recommendations, including one that said "Me (Market Price)" which made us laugh. We had a great time enjoying the food and the atmosphere.

No disappointments!! Everything was delicious. The Engawa was served rolled in shiso leaves. The customer service was excellent. As a finishing touch, we were even served ramen as a bonus, which had a rich shrimp broth and was delicious!! I would definitely want to come back when I visit Obihiro again. However, the only downside was the high prices. But it's definitely worth a visit.

I had never tried looking for a place to have a delicious dinner with good food and drinks at an izakaya in Obihiro, so I decided to visit Robata Uosendou. Actually, I had tried to go there about 2 times before without making a reservation and it was always full. This time, I called ahead and luckily they had availability, so I happily went there. The interior of the restaurant has an L-shaped counter and raised seating areas. I sat at the end of the counter and ordered the octopus simmered until tender, scallop sashimi, and asparagus with butter. The octopus had a nice chewiness to it, the scallops were very thick and luxurious, and the asparagus with butter was served hot with a rich buttery flavor. The pickles (with mountain wasabi) were pickled Chinese cabbage and cucumber with a kick of mountain wasabi that cleared the sinuses. I also ordered a bottle of Kushiro local sake called Fukushi, which was slightly dry and had a smooth taste, making it easy to drink. As I wanted to try the robatayaki (charcoal-grilled) dishes as the restaurant's name suggests, I asked the staff for recommendations and they suggested the smallest size of silver cod head. It was priced by weight but they informed me of the cost. The fish was cooked slowly and thoroughly, with a moist and fatty meat that was delicious. After finishing the silver cod head, the staff suggested making a ramen with the broth from the bones, which was not on the menu. It had a good fish broth flavor that was different from anchovy ramen and was a perfect way to finish the meal. There are still many dishes like grilled hokke (Okhotsk atka mackerel) that I want to try, so I would love to visit again.

I want to make it my regular spot. It was my second stop in Obihiro! The restaurant was packed and bustling! Already full, I ordered the grilled silver cod collar and grilled rice ball! I also ordered seaweed and pickled vegetables for some nutrition boost, which turned out to be a light and good choice. The main dish, silver cod collar, had good fat content and great flavor. Grilling it slowly over charcoal may be the key. They also served a seafood broth ramen as a finishing touch with the grilled rice ball, which was very comforting. The grilled rice ball was traditional and well-cooked with a nice crispy flavor! As a traditional restaurant with 25 years of history, it was a very enjoyable experience! A great night spot in Obihiro!

If you want to drink fish-based dishes in front of Obihiro Station, this is the place to go. The nostalgic atmosphere and friendly service by the older ladies make it a great experience. Be sure to sit at the counter and enjoy your meal.

During my trip to Obihiro, I visited this restaurant where the size of the ingredients in front of me was impressive. It is a seafood-focused restaurant, and I enjoyed the recommended dishes of scallop sashimi and grilled skin while sipping on Japanese sake. The portion size per dish was amazing and the freshness of the fish was outstanding. It was a great experience to try things that are not easily available in Tokyo. The staff, consisting of three women when I visited, were friendly and even added a touch of humor by writing "market price" on the specials board and jokingly saying "Here's 500 million yen" when giving me change. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

It's an amazing izakaya. Each dish is generous in portion, and they keep bringing more and more food, it's shocking. I ordered scallop sashimi, silver cod belly, hokke fish, buttered potatoes, simmered octopus, eggplant and celery pickles (complimentary), and apple sherbet (complimentary). The scallops were thick, the cod belly had just the right amount of fat, and the hokke fish was used to make a delicious ramen with the leftover skin and meat. The buttered potatoes were served in a bowl, and towards the end they even made potato mochi for us. Other customers were offered rice balls, which was amusing. Even though Obihiro is far, I would be willing to travel there again just to visit this restaurant.

Obihiro Night. Obihiro has a nice street food area and is a lively city. Tonight, I chose "Robata Uozen". It's a popular restaurant that is hard to get into without a reservation. First, I had scallop sashimi and tender octopus. Both were in half portions but had plenty of volume. The scallop sashimi was thick and sweet, surprisingly delicious. Buttered corn and onsen tamago as appetizers. Service of eggplant and celery pickles with mountain wasabi. A critical hit with my wife. The grilled dish was a large grilled sea bream. It was huge and perfectly cooked. The dessert was apple sorbet. Thank you for the meal. Kittens Together Plan http://blog.livedoor.jp/shohei72/

This is an izakaya located in the bustling district of Obihiro. They offer a variety of delicious seafood and local specialties from Tokachi. While their specialty is robatayaki, their sashimi and other dishes are also delicious. Highly recommended dishes include grilled eel, scallop sashimi, simmered octopus, and hizunamasu. All of them were delicious. The ramen served as a finishing touch after grilling the tilefish was also good. They have a wide selection of sake on their menu, which is also great. This is a must-visit restaurant when in Obihiro.

A popular restaurant located in the center of Obihiro City. I heard that it's best to make a reservation on weekends, so I made a reservation about 10 days in advance and arrived as soon as they opened. Inside the restaurant, the counter was lined with fresh fish and vegetables. This looks promising. I started with a "draft beer" (550 yen) and the appetizer (700 yen) was a delicious potato salad. The potatoes were roughly mashed, giving it a satisfying texture. Since there weren't many customers yet, I decided to choose what I wanted to eat by looking at the fish on the counter rather than the menu. I decided to order the "Silver Mutsu Fish Collar" (market price, 1,600 yen on that day) to be grilled. Since the Silver Mutsu Fish would take some time to grill, I also ordered one of the restaurant's specialties, the "Scallop Sashimi" (market price, 1,500 yen on that day). The scallops were indeed large and thick, and the natural sweetness was amazing. I was told not to cut them and to eat them in one bite for the best flavor, and it was truly a luxurious experience. While enjoying the scallops, the Silver Mutsu Fish Collar was grilled and it was delicious and fatty. It had been a while since I last had Silver Mutsu Fish, and it was a great decision to order it. For drinks, I recommend sake. I started with a dry "Rokkasen Junmai Super Dry" (700 yen) and then enjoyed the "Suigei Special Junmai Sake" (700 yen) that I had liked during a trip to Kochi. The sake was served in a tokkuri and I could choose my favorite sake cup. The first cup was poured by the hostess as a complimentary service. She also served a pickled eggplant and celery dish with plenty of mountain wasabi as a palate cleanser. The hostess and the two other female staff members were all friendly and made the evening enjoyable. Even though many walk-in customers were turned away due to full reservations, I was glad I had made a reservation. It was a satisfying night of delicious food and drinks!

A long-established robatayaki restaurant. I called during off-peak hours and was able to get a seat. The restaurant was always full, even during the pandemic. The portion size of the dishes was quite large, making it challenging for one person. I think it's best to go with 2-3 people. However, the quality of the food was excellent! The fish and dried seafood were top-notch. A standout dish was the ramen made with broth from fish skin. The soup was outstanding.
