Located in the residential area of Shimamatsu in Eniwa Island, we visited the popular restaurant "Kousushi" for the first time on a weekday. When we called to confirm their business hours, they kindly made a reservation for us. The menu included items such as Chitose chicken skewers for 150 yen, negima (Chitose chicken with green onion) for 150 yen, chicken skin for 150 yen, Rusutsu pork skewers for 150 yen, pork belly wrapped with asparagus for 200 yen, chicken broth tofu (made with beans from Tettou) for 350 yen, orange soft drink for 250 yen, and a seating charge of 350 yen. Upon entering the restaurant, we took off our shoes as is customary, even though some other customers were wearing their shoes inside. The restaurant had two tables and a counter with seven seats, and the background music was a local Hokkaido news program. Despite just opening, there were already a few customers present, some of whom had made reservations. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and the fact that it is run by a couple make it feel very homey. The menu is not extensive, focusing mainly on charcoal-grilled chicken skewers that are meticulously prepared. As a palate cleanser, we enjoyed the thick tofu in chicken broth from a local tofu shop, which was delicious. It seemed like there were regular customers who lived nearby, adding to the friendly and welcoming ambiance of the place. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.
