Sashimi bowl + warm noodles for 1100 yen. Today's lunch was at Futako Nagayama. There are four basic lunch menu options. I chose the sashimi bowl and warm noodles. It was served in about 10 minutes. The small bowl contained salmon, octopus, sweet shrimp, scallop, tuna, white fish, mackerel, tamagoyaki, flying fish roe, and squid. A total of 10 kinds of sashimi. The warm noodles were a nice addition after finishing the sashimi, making it just the right amount of food.

Located at 20-2 Nagayama 2-jo, Asahikawa City. This sushi restaurant is situated along National Route 39, close to Nagayama Station. I was intrigued by their lunch set with warm noodles, so I decided to visit. Based on previous reviews, it seems that the price used to be under 1,000 yen, but it is now 1,100 yen. Despite that, it still seems reasonable for a sushi lunch set with noodles. I arrived five minutes before opening and the restaurant was already open. The interior has a traditional sushi restaurant vibe with a counter seating for five and about four tables. It feels quite calming. I ordered the "sashimi set with warm noodles" for 1,100 yen. The sashimi included tuna, salmon, mackerel, flounder, sweet shrimp, squid, flying fish roe, tamago, and kamaboko. The freshness of the ingredients was better than expected for this price range. The sushi rice was seasoned just right. The warm noodles were like tanuki udon with tempura flakes and green onions, and the broth was delicious. The side dishes included cold tofu with three-miso dip. Overall, the 1,100 yen sushi lunch set was quite satisfying. The restaurant is also popular for eel dishes, as I noticed reservations for eel lunch sets during my visit.

It has been about 4 years since my last visit to Nisachi Nagayama store along Route 439. The lunch menu has increased by 120 yen since 4 years ago, with Zangi (deep-fried chicken) now priced at 850 yen instead of 660 yen. The sushi rolls have also been updated. The restaurant's signature green tea with the store name on it is delicious. I ordered the same dish as my last visit, the Nama Chirashi (sliced raw fish over rice) with hot noodles for 1100 yen, which comes with a side of cold tofu. The hot noodles are thin udon noodles. The Nama Chirashi includes octopus, tuna, salmon, mackerel, squid, scallop, flying fish roe, shrimp, fish cake, egg, and white fish.

I have a meeting with my friend at Nagayama. It feels like we haven't seen each other in a long time, probably since April. We both feel like having Japanese food. Nagayama is big, so where should we go? We might have to go to the city to find a Japanese restaurant. I searched on Tabelog and found Niko Nagayama store nearby. The reviews from senior reviewers were okay. The restaurant has a historic exterior and interior, and we were seated in a raised tatami area. We ordered the Assorted Sushi and Noodles set for 980 yen. The sushi was fresh with slightly larger pieces, mild vinegar, and soft rice. The noodles had a good portion size, with a simple broth and smooth texture. Overall, the meal was filling, so those who want a lot to eat might be satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Visit date October 12th (Thursday) Today, I had work in the Nagayama area. It was a very cold day with cold rain from the morning. By the way, a few days ago, there were snow bugs flying around. It is said that when snow bugs fly, snow will fall in two weeks. Winter is already approaching Asahikawa. Today's work proceeded as planned, and it's time for lunch... Due to the unfortunate rainy weather, I had to cancel my plan to go to the restaurant on the top floor of the Kamikawa General Promotion Bureau where you can see the Daisetsuzan Range because it's not visible in this weather. So, I searched on Tabelog for a new place to eat. Since I wasn't in the mood for ramen or soba today, I chose to visit "Nikou Nagayama" for the first time. I chose the lunch special with sashimi and noodles (the noodles were udon) from the menu... It took a little time as the kind waitress mentioned, probably due to delivery orders or other customers, but after about 25 minutes, my order arrived. The sashimi platter looked great with tuna, shrimp, salmon, white fish, amberjack, octopus, squid, egg, and flying fish roe. The side dish was tofu with what seemed to be homemade miso pickles. The udon was served in a soup bowl with what appeared to be dried noodles... It was a satisfying meal.

I didn't go to the area around Nagayama Station at all, but I started to become interested after seeing "Kushidokoro Ebisu" as a trigger. When I looked into it, I found out that there are quite a few well-known restaurants in the area. I visited one of them, "Nikou Nagayama". Located along Route 39 in Asahikawa City, Nagayama 2-jo 20-chome. Map here → https://goo.gl/maps/Xfu7aFG5x342 Open from 11:30 to 13:30 and 17:30 to 22:00, closed irregularly. Parking available, smoking allowed. It seems to be a branch of the "Nikou Honten" located in the city center. There were two regular customers at the counter. I was courteously led to a raised seating area. The service is great. It's bright and pleasant. I had already decided on my order from the beginning. It's the first one of the year, right? The menu says "market price" and also mentions that it takes time. I waited for about 20 minutes. Here it is, the eel rice bowl for 3400 yen including tax. It's overflowing with goodness. Mmm... Mmmmmm... Yum!! The eel meat is incredibly tender and moist. I haven't had this texture before. Interesting. And you know, the skin is grilled until it's crispy. This is also different from other places I've eaten at before. It's fragrant, crispy, and the first bite was interesting. This is also good. The sauce was to my liking. It's moderately sweet and goes well with the eel. For those who don't like the slimy texture of the skin, this place might be worth a try.

◆Nisai Nagayama Lunch◆ The other day, I had lunch at Nisai, located near Nagayama Station along Route 39 (about a 5-minute walk). Lunch hours are from 11:30 to 13:30. Since it's located along Route 39, I must have passed by this place hundreds of times, but this was my first visit. I didn't take any photos of the interior, but there is a counter and tatami seating, and this time I chose the tatami seating for lunch. I had the "Nama Chirashi" for 750 yen. It took about 10 minutes. It came with salad, which was nice. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I wonder why I hadn't come here before? By the way, my friend S had the "Tendon." It looked delicious too. Tasty, comfortable, and affordable, so about a week later, I visited again. This time, I had the "Katsudon" for 650 yen, I think. It took a bit longer to come out since it's fried, but that's understandable. I really liked the flavoring. I also checked out the evening menu, and it seems like the prices are reasonable. Having sushi and sake at Nisai sounds like a great idea. Thank you for the meal.
