やがいや
This is a continuation of my trip to Hakodate in November. The previous day, I ate and drank too much, so I decided to take it easy today (lol). I used the regional common coupon, which was part of the GoTo Travel campaign. On this day, I visited the famous Goryokaku. It was my third time visiting Goryokaku. I always wanted to come during cherry blossom season, but luckily, the autumn leaves were at their peak on this day, and the view was incredibly beautiful. I visited Ramai, a restaurant located in Goryokaku. It seems to have its main branch in Sapporo, and in addition to the Goryokaku branch in Hakodate, it has two other locations in the city. (They also have branches in other parts of Hokkaido, Yokohama, and Osaka.) The atmosphere inside the restaurant was completely different, with an Asian-themed exotic ambiance. The dim lighting added to the nice atmosphere. I chose the beef curry from the menu that day. As others have mentioned, you can choose the level of spiciness from several options, and I chose "Mild." There is an even milder option called "Manis," but I regretted not choosing that later. The description mentioned that it is targeted at children and is very sweet, so I felt a bit embarrassed ordering it (lol). What's even scarier is that, in addition to free spiciness adjustment, you can also add fresh chili peppers for an extra charge, with the highest level being called "Devil's Jin." I wonder what that would be like. Finally, the main dish of the day, the soup curry, arrived. The rice was served on a flat plate. After taking a bite, I thought, "This is delicious." Sometimes I crave curry, but I don't often have the chance to eat soup curry. The thick soup was very tasty, and the rice went well with it. However, as I ate more, I started sweating a lot, as I had expected, because of the spiciness (lol). I'm not good with spicy food, so I chose "Mild," but I should have chosen "Manis" as a person with a child's palate. The spices were quite strong, so for those who like spicy food, I recommend trying it. In the end, I was sweating like a waterfall while finishing the dish. It was really delicious, but I was reminded once again that I'm not good with spicy food.
