◆Eating outside of specialty shops series: Eating ramen at a non-specialty shop. The second installment features ramen from an izakaya. This time, we visited "Daisyuzen," a place that offered noodle dishes under the name "Menya Daisyuzen" during the COVID-19 self-restraint period. The shop is located in Sapporo, Chuo-ku, Minami 3 Nishi 7. Upon entering the MS Building, where the shop is located, we found a cozy atmosphere with a spiral staircase leading to the entrance on the second floor. The limited noodle menu includes Taiwan-style mazesoba, tsukemen, and cold ramen. Unfortunately, the cold ramen was sold out, so we ordered the tsukemen "Buppa" for 900 yen (soy sauce). The menu also offered the option to have the dipping sauce hot, but we opted for cold. The name "Buppa" intrigued us - what could it mean? The cold ramen was named "Natsukaze Lemon," which sounded interesting. Inside the shop, we noticed illustrations and a signature from the popular manga artist Eikoh Hosoe, adding a stylish touch to the place. The menu had quirky phrases like "Men should drink Akahoshi silently" and "Sometimes it's okay to hit on someone," sparking curiosity about the dishes. After a short wait, our tsukemen arrived. The noodles were served on a shallow dish with toppings like chashu, bamboo shoots, white negi, seasoned egg, nori, fish powder, and pickled ginger - a unique lineup. The wheaty noodles had a delightful chewy texture and paired well with the rich fish and pork bone soy-based dipping sauce. The chashu was juicy and flavorful, and the bamboo shoots added an interesting twist. We quickly finished the noodles and moved on to the soup-wari. The soup had a slightly strong salty taste, but overall, it was enjoyable. We savored every last drop of the soup-wari and left the bowl clean. This ramen experience at an izakaya was satisfying, and we look forward to returning for a drink next time. Thank you for the meal! ※Visit number 67 in 2021 (visited on June 17, 2021) ※This is a record of the visit at the time.
