On the left side of the entrance to the store, there is a curtain, and below that is a no smoking sign. This individual izakaya restaurant I visited this time had delicious food overall, and personally, I hope that such excellent restaurants can continue to thrive for a long time. This izakaya, 北味, opened on October 11, 2022, at 5-20 Minami 5 Jo Nishi 5-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. I entered through the sliding door and curtain, and presented a coupon to be seated at a table in a raised area as the counter was occupied. The atmosphere was cozy and traditional, with a clean and compact izakaya space. The appetizer was marinated salmon with onions, bell peppers, and the salmon tasted fresh and flavorful, making me crave for sake. I opted for a highball since I had already had some sake. The homemade silver cod miso-marinated dish I ordered at the end was my favorite. It was served in two pieces per portion, and the crispy texture was delightful. The hokke fry had a crunchy texture and the fish was tender and delicious. The prawn was plump and sweet, and even the prawn miso was tasty. The squid and leek stir-fry had a generous portion and the butter soy sauce flavor was inviting. The first drink was Dewar's highball, followed by Jameson highball, and finally, Sapporo Classic beer. The ice in the drinks was good quality, and both the highballs and beer were delicious. This restaurant has become a favorite, and I look forward to visiting again.

This building was originally thought to house snack-style bars, but it turns out there are also several dining establishments here. I teamed up with My Reviewer for a Susukino patrol. We came here from a sushi restaurant. After all, when you hear about a non-smoking izakaya, you can't help but go check it out. We took the elevator to the 2nd floor of the building. When the door opened, there was a store diagonally in front of us. The entrance had a brown lattice door and a white noren curtain hanging outside. The sign indicating that they are open displayed a clear no-smoking mark. Furthermore, "arajai" - what does that mean? When I searched it, it seemed to be a comedy duo's joke? Inside, there is a kitchen space on the left and counter seats in front of it. On the right side, there are three 4-person tables in a raised seating area. There were two other customers at the counter, so we sat at the raised seating area. It had a cozy atmosphere like a small individual izakaya. Since it's non-smoking, you can enjoy your drinks and food without worrying about smoke, which makes the atmosphere brighter. In addition to the menu, there were handwritten menus posted on the wall. They have a variety of dishes, including daily specials that go well with drinks. *Draft beer 605 yen *Jameson highball 605 yen *Charm marinated salmon in vinegar. A marinade with acidity, sweetness, and a gentle flavor, served with aromatic vegetables. *Botan shrimp 990 yen My Reviewer had a coupon and showed it. The 900 yen menu was served as a service, so these splendid botan shrimp were served as a service. They were large and splendid, with a sweet, moist texture, comparable to the ones at the sushi restaurant. Thank you very much. *Shime saba (pickled mackerel) 715 yen It was written on the wall menu as homemade and the most popular, so I ordered it. It was a delicious finish. *Gindara (sablefish) in miso marinade 968 yen They served two pieces. It had a delicious flavor soaked in a white miso-based marinade. *Squid and leek stir-fried in butter soy sauce 693 yen It was quite a generous portion. Stir-fried squid and leeks with a garnish of needle hot peppers on top. The butter soy sauce seasoning was a classic and delicious flavor. *Hokke (arctic char) fry 660 yen Crispy batter with plump Hokke meat. Served with sauce, cut lemon, and lettuce. I would like to try Genghis Khan and ramen salad next time.

The fried blowfish, fried tofu in dashi broth, and the sashimi of mackerel and yellowtail were all delicious. It's a place I would like to visit again.
