I thought they were selling grilled items, but I was completely wrong. It was a store selling frozen dumplings in small quantities - 20 pieces, 40 pieces, shumai, ebikuratan, gyoza, ice cream, and all kinds of frozen foods. The price of 900 yen for 20 pieces seemed a bit off, but they kindly gave me a paper with instructions on how to cook them for those who are new to making them at home. I followed the instructions and steamed and then pan-fried the dumplings. They turned out surprisingly large and juicy inside. I thought they would be mediocre since they were frozen, but I was proven wrong.

This shop is a frozen dumpling store located in Memuro Town. The dumplings are quite famous and can be bought in various places in Hokkaido. I bought the 40-piece pack because it lasts a long time. When you buy it for the first time, they should give you instructions on how to make it. The dumplings have a generous amount of filling in a large wrapper, and when you eat them, the meat juice overflows nicely. The flavor of the leeks is quite strong and it becomes addictive. People who don't like leeks might not enjoy it. The fact that each dumpling is handmade is also a charm. The price is on the higher side, but considering the deliciousness and size, I think it's reasonable.

I learned about Ho'ei Gyoza through a friend's recommendation. It's a specialty of Otomocho, and I thought it would be hard to find, but I found out there is a store in Miyanosawa. It's located on the left side when driving on Kitago Street towards Teine. The price is a bit high, but the taste of garlic and chives is irresistible. And most importantly, it's juicy and full of meat juice. It does have a strong smell, so I usually eat it the day before my day off. The size is quite large, but you can eat as many as you want!

I tried the "Houei Gyoza" from "Gyoza no Houei (Fukushima Ramen Show)" in May 2023. The dumplings had a chewy skin with a generous amount of chives and a flavorful filling, so you might not need much sauce. It seems like they have frozen vending machines in Sendai and other places, so it would be great if they could open one in Fukushima too.

This is a gyoza restaurant in Sapporo, and this time they participated in the 35th Hokkaido Local Products and Tourism Exhibition at Fujisaki Department Store. I bought gyoza curry bread. It was frozen, so I let it thaw naturally and then baked it in a toaster oven. When I tried it, it was exactly gyoza curry bread. The gyoza is whole inside.

The other day, I decided to try the "Otoe Gyoza" that my mother in Sapporo sent me, after about a year. Last time, I accidentally burned them, but this time I was able to cook them perfectly. These giant dumplings are unforgettable once you try them, with their generous size and delicious taste. Each dumpling weighs about 30g and is packed with filling that almost spills out of the skin. They are so big and heavy that the frying pan is almost filled with just one dumpling. Of course, beer is a must-have accompaniment for these pan-fried dumplings. The dipping sauce is a mix of spicy chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar. To finish off, I enjoyed the dumplings with rice. "Otoe Gyoza" is the best! Thank you, dear mother. It was a delicious meal.
