I spent almost a whole day exploring Sapporo. Ate a lot and... my stomach is full but it's time for a break. The view is great! You can experience the center of Sapporo. I ordered Affogato and Tiramisu-style Cafe Jelly Parfait. The Affogato was delicious just as I expected. The flavor of the espresso was also good. The Tiramisu-style Cafe Jelly Parfait was more elaborate and surprisingly the price difference with the Affogato was not that much. The jelly was ordinary but I was impressed by the careful work. What I ate: Affogato 715 yen, Tiramisu-style Cafe Jelly Parfait 770 yen.

I stopped by Marumi Coffee Shop on a whim. It was my first time using the cafe on the 3rd floor of Marui. It was very quiet and pleasant inside, probably because it was a weekday evening. I ordered at the counter as soon as I entered. I ordered cold brew iced coffee and cheesecake, then paid. The cold brew iced coffee had three types of beans listed, but I couldn't imagine their characteristics, so I asked the staff, "Which one is stronger?" and went with their recommendation. They had self-service water with herb-infused and lemon-infused options. After a few minutes of sitting down, the iced coffee and cheesecake arrived. I took a sip of the iced coffee. It was refreshing, with a strong flavor. It had a crisp and mild taste that was easy to drink yet satisfying. The cheesecake was dense and crunchy, with a great texture. I sat at a table where I could see the TV tower, and I relaxed while watching the flow of people and cars on Odori Avenue. I visited in July 2023.

✎Marumi Coffee Shop is a specialty coffee shop with 6 stores in Sapporo city. The view from this shop is great, with a clear blue sky and the Sapporo TV Tower in front of the window, making it perfect for sightseeing. I visited around 2 pm on a weekday and about half of the seats were taken.

I stopped by for a little break at this cafe and the view of the TV Tower from the window was amazing. It really made me feel like I was in Sapporo, and time seemed to pass by leisurely. Plus, I got really excited when I saw a horse-drawn carriage passing by outside!
The menu had shaved ice, but since it was a bit chilly in Sapporo that day and I was already wearing multiple layers of clothes, I decided to go for the coffee jelly parfait instead. It had coffee jelly with ice cream on top, and it was delicious. The coffee jelly itself had two types, Ethiopian and Costa Rican, which you could choose from. It was clear that this coffee shop had a lot of attention to detail.
I wish I had tried both types of coffee jelly to compare the flavors. They also offered takeout, so I should have bought some as a souvenir. It was such a lovely cafe, so be sure to check out their Instagram too!

Marui-san's place was open before I knew it. I ordered an iced cafe latte. It had a deep milk flavor and the perfect balance of coffee. It was delicious. The pricing is on the higher side. For the price, it's a bit disappointing that the spoon provided was plastic and you pay upfront. The quiet and calming atmosphere was nice.

We ordered and paid before being seated. We were able to choose our seats, so we picked one with a view of the TV tower! It was a nice day, so we enjoyed the view. My husband doesn't like coffee, but he really enjoyed the coffee zenzai - it was sweet, fragrant, and delicious. The iced coffee was a bit small in size, but it was nice to drink it from a glass instead of a straw!

Before Okamura-chan's live performance, I decided to grab a quick bite at a place that used to be a brasserie called "Coron." Now, it has become "Marumi Coffee Shop." There are four branches along Odori, but I wonder if they compete with each other. They offer two types of cakes: chiffon cake and cheesecake, similar to what Ansharotto-san offers. They also have affogato and baked sweets. You have to pay at the counter before ordering, and there are no set menus. I ordered cheesecake and a dark roasted Colombian coffee. They have self-service water with options like herb water and lemon water. I chose herb water. Since I was alone, I sat at a single table in the back. The lighting was dim, maybe because it was evening. The cheesecake, called "Andutrois," and the coffee, "Colombia Burgal," were served. The cake came with whipped cream and is made with three types of cheese, which is why it has that name. It has crushed walnuts in the cookie crust at the bottom. The cheesecake has a refreshing lemon acidity and is very smooth, pairing well with the coffee.

I visited around 11:30 am on a weekday. There were only a few groups in the store, but by 12:00 pm it started to get a bit busier. They had a menu that showed their dedication to coffee, and I was recommended some great beans. I chose one with low acidity, and it was indeed delicious and to my liking. From the window, I could see Odori Park and the TV Tower. The view was really nice.

Marumi Coffee Shop has opened on the 3rd floor of Marui Imai Odori Building in Sapporo. It seems that Brasserie Colon Wiz Le Creuset used to be in this location, but it has closed down. The entrance requires payment upfront, and the menu is displayed outside. The coffee prices range from 660 yen for single origin or blend. The food options include Coffee Zenzai, Affogato, sandwiches, and croque-monsieur for lunch starting at 11 am. There are also baked goods available for dine-in, with prices displayed including tax. I decided to try the Affogato for 715 yen and paid with my MI card to earn points. I was directed to choose any seat, and I chose one by the window with a view of the TV Tower. The Affogato consisted of vanilla ice cream topped with a generous amount of espresso, which was rich and delicious. The black plastic spoon was decent, but given the price, I expected a bit more. The view from the window was nice, and the atmosphere was relaxing. It would be great if they could expand their food menu and improve their service to create a more upscale cafe within the department store setting. Overall, the coffee was delicious, and I hope this place succeeds as it has a great location.

After finishing lunch and completing my next errand, I felt really hot and wanted to take a break. I decided to stop by Marui Imai and found a Marumicafe coffee shop newly opened on the 3rd floor. I had been wanting to try their coffee beans but found it inconvenient to go to their main store, so this was a pleasant surprise. I ordered their limited quantity coffee zenzai and settled the bill using a self-service system. The price was typical for a department store. I chose a seat with a view of Odori Park and helped myself to some herb water. The coffee zenzai arrived promptly, with plenty of coffee jelly. The jelly had a balanced flavor, not too bitter, with a hint of acidity. It paired unexpectedly well with the red beans. The sweet potato added a comforting touch, and the crispy cereal-like texture provided a nice contrast. Mixing the ice cream, red bean paste, and coffee jelly together created a delicious blend of textures and flavors. The cherry garnish added a nostalgic touch. I regretted not ordering coffee to accompany the dessert. I used to go to the main Marumicafe store in Odori for coffee, but now that this branch offers unique menu items, I can switch between the two locations. It would be even better if they had more food options to make it a more versatile lunch spot.

I visited the newly opened Marumi Coffee Shop on the 3rd floor of Marui Imai Sapporo Main Store after hearing about it opening on September 15, 2022. Looking at the menu in front of the store, I noticed that the price for a cup of coffee starting at 660 yen is quite high. I decided to try the "Specialty Coffee - Costa Rica Bien San Kenya Variety White Honey" for takeout. The menu described it as having a fruity sensation reminiscent of prunes or oranges, with a caramel-like sweetness. While I could taste the citrus flavors and acidity, the caramel-like sweetness was not very noticeable. It seems that when focusing on the freshness of the coffee, the taste may turn out like this, but it felt more like tea rather than coffee to me. I realized that I have never tried their iced coffee before, so I might give it a try next time. Overall, it was a unique experience. Thank you for the meal.
