The name of the restaurant is unique, so I remembered it, but it was surprising to find it in this residential area. It was my first time visiting, and it seems like they serve lunch like a boarding house. The name "Sundoggy" is actually written as "sundoggy." I wonder what it means, something like the sun and a dog. (Later, I found out from an article on the Asahikawa Newspaper website that it is derived from the sun in Asahikawa and the current owner, Inubushi-san.) Now, the menu includes hand-cut soba, rice bowls, curry, fried rice, spaghetti, and more. The blackboard in front of the restaurant indicates that they do not serve ramen, which is a bit of a problem. I was imagining a set meal, but it seems like they only offer udon or soba as a set. Even then, I couldn't decide easily as everything looked tempting, especially the photo of Katsu Napolitan. Oh no. And the recommended menu includes dishes like Taiwan-style mixed noodles and meat spaghetti, which are my favorites. I'm in trouble. Moreover, the decision is difficult with dishes like the Zingare Katsu Don. Everyone loves Genghis Khan's sauce, right? There was also a sauce Katsu Don, but I prefer the one from Europe-ken in Fukui. Now, the room looks like a boarding house dining room, with manga books neatly arranged. If they had books like "Kaze no Daichi," "Golgo 13," or "Ningen Kousaten," I would have picked one up, but I couldn't find them. Well, to be honest, I don't have enough time to read them, so I didn't bother looking. While I was thinking about trivial things, my order arrived. It was quick because there was no wait. The presentation was very meticulous. The cleanliness of the appearance is important. The Zingare sauce is an original soy-based sauce with grated fruits and vegetables. When I tried it, it was indeed refreshing, and the aroma of garlic and ginger was strong. I thought it might be salty, so at first, I didn't pour it directly but soaked the Katsu and ate it. Then, I decided to pour it from the top, covering the Katsu and rice. The shredded cabbage between the rice and Katsu did a great job. It was really delicious, but this time I'll give it 3.5 stars. I was too curious about other menu items, so I couldn't fully grasp the restaurant's potential with just this dish. Also, I was planning to restrain myself due to a blood test this weekend, but the rice portion was so large! I ended up eating too much and feeling full, which was a negative factor (I should have left some, haha). The large rice portion costs an additional 150 yen, but I recommend starting with the regular size. Next time, I'm torn between ordering Katsu Napolitan or Taiwan-style mixed noodles. Now, I'm in a dilemma. Oh, even though they don't serve ramen, I wonder what kind of noodles they use for Taiwan-style mixed noodles?

I've been curious about this dining room for a while... I've known the name for a long time, but I kept forgetting or remembering it on and off. It's a bit of a mysterious interior design, and according to the information from Kitadora, it seems to be a dormitory-style shop. Passing through the mysterious entrance and entering the dining room... there are lots of manga books, giving off a vibe that would be popular with students. Oh! They're not serving ramen now! There's a notice on the sign... Sorry... The staff are really nice. The "Soba Set" costs 850 yen and you can choose between soba or udon (hot or cold) with a half-size bowl. I was a bit indecisive about the bowl... I ended up choosing "Shrimp Bowl." The food arrived in about 15 minutes. The portion size is huge... Is this really a half-size bowl? But the half-cooked surface looks good. First, I tried the soba... It has a good firmness, smooth texture, and you can feel the hand-made quality. The flavor of the soba is mild but much tastier than I expected. The shrimp bowl looks exactly like the picture, with the egg cooked just right and seasoned to my liking. The shrimp is big and juicy. The rice is cooked perfectly and hot. It may sound rude, but it was surprisingly delicious. The volume is big and it's delicious, so it's understandable why it's popular with young people. Even after finishing the meal, I found myself looking at the menu again and thinking, "I should try the Napolitan next time." Later, I saw Martha's review and it was funny that we both had our eyes on the same menu item. The staff mentioned that the teppanyaki is sizzling, adding to the experience. Thank you for the meal.

Oh, they were open. Actually, the exterior was recently renovated a bit. At that time, the sign on the exterior wall was missing, so I thought they had closed. It turns out it was just their day off. Even without a large sign, they were still open. There was a flag standing firmly. But if you didn't know, you wouldn't know this was a restaurant. Because apparently, the boarding house owner runs this place, and the entrance is the same as the apartment's entrance. Today, where will it rank? If it looks delicious, please click the "↓" button!! ⇒ Please click once. There was a clear sign. A handwritten board sign. It seems like this is the only one out there. They only serve lunch. I don't know when their day off is... If the sign is not out, it must be a day off. You take off your shoes at the entrance. This is still just the apartment's boarding house. So you take off your shoes at the entrance. Inside, the kitchen is on the right, and the restaurant is on the left. This is not yet Sandogee. Turning left into Sandogee is the first room. That's the Sandogee dining room. There are other rooms as well, but it seems like someone must be living there. Inside, there are quite a few manga books lined up, and there's a rug, just a normal room. There's also a toilet inside. But the seats are only tables, divided into two rooms. The menu being a dining room, the selection is extensive. But the portions are quite large here. If you order a set, the quantity is quite large. But because the set menu is a good deal, you end up wanting to order the set. By the way, ramen is 650 yen, and katsudon is 800 yen. This is the standard, but... Set menu When you order a set, the price becomes confusing. Because if you order ramen and katsudon, it would be 1450 yen, right? As a set, it's 800 yen. That's a calculation where the ramen is free. If the quantities are the same... What's the difference if you order a regular portion? While waiting, something caught my eye. Udon gyoza. What's this, I want to try it. But I already ordered the set. Is there udon inside the gyoza? Or is the gyoza filling wrapped in udon... I want to try it, but only when I go with a few people. Ramen set Katsudon Look, both are one serving each!! There's no way this is half... This definitely looks like ramen and katsudon were ordered. It's a solid serving for one person. The rich shoyu flavor is well balanced, and the soup is also well made. It's a delicious ramen. There's no menma in it, but it's a satisfying bowl!! I wonder if the same thing would come if you ordered a regular portion... The noodles are slightly curly, with a bit more moisture. The noodles have a slight chewiness. They're cooked a bit on the softer side. It's not a big deal though. The noodles lift up the rich soy sauce flavor well, and I like that. As for the katsudon, this katsudon, it's definitely not the amount that comes with the set, right? The katsu is freshly fried and placed nicely on the bowl. Moreover, the amount of katsu is quite large. It doesn't fit in the bowl in one row, so two pieces are placed on the side. Hmm, if you ordered a regular katsudon, I wonder what would come? It's a thick piece of meat, and it's quite tender. Plus, there's plenty of it, so you'll be really full. I like to sprinkle shichimi on my katsudon. Even though I sprinkle it, the taste doesn't change much. The sauce for the katsudon is not too sweet, just right. But since there's quite a bit of rice, if you accidentally say you want a set with extra rice, it could be a big problem. I thought Sandogee Dining had closed, so I'm glad I could go back. Next time... I want to try the katsu spaghetti curry. Thank you for the meal. ⇒ ★To get full, go here★ Tomorrow's preview ===========

During a business trip within the city, I had the "Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen for 750 yen" for lunch. It was a Monday afternoon, and I found myself in the unfamiliar area of Nagayama. Following my boss's instructions, I ventured into a residential area. Upon arrival, I noticed a sign on the building that read "Lodging." Curious, I checked on the internet and discovered that this place serves as a dining hall exclusively for lodgers during weekday lunch hours. I entered through a shared entrance with the lodgers and found a simple and cozy dining hall to the left. It seemed to be a shared space with the lodgers. Observing the other customers, I noticed that the daily "Sandwich Bento" was popular, but I decided to order the ramen instead. The ramen arrived promptly, but to my disappointment, it did not come with bamboo shoots (my favorite). It seems that bamboo shoots are not included here as a standard. The taste was okay, considering the price. The customers around me seemed to be enjoying their bento boxes. I should have gone for the rice dishes instead. Lesson learned. I found out that this place also offers delivery service, so I took a flyer. One menu item caught my attention - "Udon Gyoza." It is a local specialty from Takatsuki City, Osaka, where udon and gyoza fillings are mixed, flattened, and cooked. I'll definitely try the large portion of Udon Gyoza next time (laughs).

The "Sandgy Food Hall" opened on July 14th this year in Asahikawa City, located at 6-cho, 10-jyo, Nagayama. The place is near Nagayama Minami Elementary School and Ryo-un High School. It may be a bit hard to find. The restaurant is only open during weekdays at lunchtime. When you enter, you will find the kitchen on the right and the dining area on the left. There are two counter seats and three tables for four people each. They also have a good selection of books. The menu includes ramen for only 500 yen, soba and udon for 400 yen, fried rice and spaghetti for 500 yen, pork cutlet bowl for 800 yen, chicken and egg bowl for 700 yen, curry rice for 600 yen, and daily bento for 700 yen. They also have a unique dish called Udon Gyoza, a specialty from Takatsuki City in Osaka, which costs 250 yen for 3 pieces. They offer ramen sets starting from 800 yen. I tried the soy sauce ramen for 500 yen, which came with green onions, chashu, and naruto. There was no bamboo shoot. The noodles seemed to be local Asahikawa noodles. The soup had a hint of sweetness but was slightly salty. Overall, it was a reasonably priced bowl of ramen.

I went to a restaurant using the lunch passport. It's Tuesday lunchtime and I'm thinking of going to a rare soba restaurant. Oh, but I heard that the Yamame (trout) will be available next week. Maybe I should try the standing soba instead. Oh, there's a unique soba place that caught my eye on the lunch passport. Let's go check it out. This is the 5th installment of the Asahikawa lunch passport from June 25th to September 25th. The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 14:30, but not on weekends or holidays. Once it's sold out, it's over. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and holidays, with parking for 5 cars and seating for 14 people. I arrived at the restaurant at 11:35 and ordered the salt mixed soba for 500 yen (usually 750 yen). I remember coming to this place before during the first installment of the lunch passport. The restaurant is located in a boarding house and serves lunch only. You enter by taking off your shoes and the atmosphere is very cozy. There were three customers who arrived before me, so I had to wait for about 30 minutes. The soba is hand-cut and hand-made, with toppings of 8 slices of pork belly, mizuna, green onions, and shredded seaweed. The visual presentation is beautiful. The first bite was salty, the second bite was bland. It turns out it's a mixed soba, so you have to mix it yourself. I wish they had told me to mix it before serving. I added some vinegar to make it more flavorful. Overall, it was delicious but a bit heavy. I finished my meal and it was satisfying.

◆Lunch Passport Asahikawa "Sandgy Dining"◆ I often drive past this restaurant, but I only found out about it through the Lunch Passport. It's called Sandgy Dining. It's located on the street in front of Naganuma Minami Elementary School, heading towards Naganuma 2nd Street on the right side. When you enter, you take off your shoes and go upstairs. It feels like a place where they run a dining room during the day in a boarding house. The menu is shown here, but the Lunch Passport can only be used for the "Katsu Don" menu. The interior has about 3 or 4 tables and 2 counter seats. The seating is spacious. There are many manga books placed around, so manga lovers might end up staying longer. The "Katsu Don" is a bit different, with an egg on top of the rice and "sauce katsu" on top of that. It's a bit hard to evaluate. There's shredded cabbage on top of the rice, and then the sauce katsu on top, which makes it a "sauce katsu don." Some may like it, some may not. It's quite a generous portion, and even men would feel full. The woman sitting behind me with her family kept saying, "This portion is too much," about 50 times. She really said it about 50 times. Annoying. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, and they have a variety of menu options, so I would like to come back again. The only downside is that the parking lot is small. I had to leave a few days before because I couldn't find a parking spot.
