I have been making it a point to stop by here whenever I go to Sapporo for the past few years to send souvenirs. They have fish fillets and dried fish, as well as various processed products. From frozen to refrigerated, there are many options, and before you know it, it can add up to almost ten thousand yen. But even just one salmon is incredibly thick and flavorful. I usually don't buy these kinds of things, but as souvenirs when I go to Sapporo, I try to buy something a little luxurious. I also send them to other people, and it seems like everyone loves the salmon. Japanese salmon is definitely expensive, but the satisfaction is high. The smoked fish I tried last time was exceptional. I will definitely stop by again when I go to Sapporo next time!

At the Depachika, I bought my usual items from Sato Suisan. I got the salmon roe marinated in soy sauce, which has a unique flavor like crushed ikura. It's a bit slimy, but I really enjoy the marinated salmon. I also got the salted hand-rolled herring roe. The quality of the roe is decent, but the B-grade feel of it makes it easy to eat. It's important to have a target in mind when choosing food, that's the most important thing. I realized that the soy sauce marinated herring roe that I was aiming for was nowhere to be found. It was a locked-on product, but it seems I missed it.

This was a formal business event, not a shady one (laughs). The headquarters used to be in Nishi-ku, Sapporo, near Minami no Mori Store. The store there was called "Main Store." I used to frequent Sato Suisan the most, and now they have moved to the Minami no Mori store. I bought my favorite "Simmered Mackerel in Miso" and "Salmon Sausage." ■ Simmered Mackerel in Miso Thick mackerel with a good amount of fat, cooked to a nice texture. Price: 432 yen (tax included) ■ Salmon Sausage Fish meat sausage made with 65% salmon, with a great salmon flavor. 3 pieces Price: 291 yen (tax included) The "Simmered Mackerel in Miso" is as described, with fatty mackerel cooked to a soft texture that easily falls apart with chopsticks. Welcome. ---------- July 2020 ----------Located at B1 Sapporo Mitsukoshi along N1 W3, N1 Jo-dori, this famous store from Ishikari is known for its variety of salmon dishes. Aside from salmon, they also offer a unique delicacy called Rocky Salmon, which is half-smoked autumn salmon from Hokkaido. This delicacy originates from Alaska, where Eskimos dry and eat salmon. The smoked Kahori and tender flesh of the Rocky Salmon are quite salty, making it perfect to pair with beer, sake, or wine. The crispy skin, when grilled, turns into chips. Natural autumn salmon is a must-try, but due to its saltiness, it is recommended to enjoy it in small portions with various side dishes for a fun dining experience.

On January 2, 2020, I went to buy a lucky bag. I bought the Sato Suisan lucky bag for 3,260 yen (tax included), which included salmon miso flakes, garlic butter flavored salmon roll (with scallops), smoked saury, herring wrapped in kelp, and salmon sausages. It also came with a 1,000 yen voucher that can only be used at Sato Suisan in Sapporo Mitsukoshi (valid for about 2 months). I had high expectations, but overall, the quality of Sato Suisan is high and the taste is usually delicious. They are great for souvenirs or gifts. The kelp rolls seemed like leftovers, but tasty. The salmon sausages were average in taste. The salmon flakes and saury were good, but more common. The miso flakes seemed interesting. The salmon roll with a light smoked flavor would go well with sake. I understand that it was a good deal for the price, but it lacked excitement and glamour. I wanted to try a popular lucky bag from a department store at least once, so I am satisfied with this purchase. Oh, I lined up one hour before the store opened (laughs).

It goes well with beer or sake. This time, it was a pack of 8 priced at 540 yen (including tax). The "Sankyu store limited salmon kama kunsai" is a very cost-effective product. The quality is that of Sato Suisan, but the price is comparable to that of a discount store. At 540 yen, it feels like a great deal. It is best to buy it when you see it as it is not sold often. If you separate the meat and soak it in sake overnight, it becomes a perfect sake accompaniment. There is no disappointment in buying anything from Sato Suisan. Sazanami-zuke is a specialty of Sato Suisan, made with special koji from a brewery that is said to be a secret. It's a unique dish only available at Sato Suisan. Red salmon: Weight 176g, Price 700 yen Mackerel: Weight 195g, Price 560 yen Saké Kamakunsei: Weight 330g, Price 540 yen The Sazanami-zuke has been a staple product at Sato Suisan for years. The red salmon is even more delicious than the regular salmon. It's thick and flavorful. The mackerel has a good amount of fat and a mild taste. The Saké Kamakunsei is a great deal, perfect with beer or sake. It's a high-quality product at a very affordable price. It goes really well with white rice. Price: 700 yen (tax included) - Sweet Salted Salmon Weight: 192g (after removing the packaging) This thick-cut sweet salted salmon has a delicate flavor that enhances the deliciousness of the salmon. Their salmon may be a bit pricey, but the taste is excellent. The thick cuts are a delight. The Kuzumochi with Gagome Kombu has a direct and rich Gagome Kombu flavor. They also operate restaurants. I once shook hands with actress Eriko Sato, who is related to Sato Suisan. The company used to have a main store in Nishi-ku, Sapporo, but now I frequent the one in Miyanomori. I recently discovered a limited edition item at the Mitsukoshi store - Smoked Autumn Salmon Collar for 380 yen. It was a good deal and tasted great with beer or sake. I regret only buying one pack as it was delicious. I recommend checking out this limited item if you happen to visit the Mitsukoshi store.

The products at Sato Suisan in February 2020 are all delicious, but one that stands out and makes you want to buy it is the salted squid. Unlike typical salted squid, it is not overly salty and has a soy sauce flavor, making it a perfect accompaniment for evening drinks. I often use this shop as well. I always buy the "Salmon Roe Pickled in Soy Sauce for $800" and the seasonal items like "Sakura Salmon Roe for $1200", "Scallop Soft for $1000", and "Sweet Salted Salmon for $1370". I pack them carefully in a cooler bag and take them home. The "Salmon Roe" has a moderate sweetness that goes well with rice. It's definitely delicious here. The "Sweet Salted Salmon" has amazing fat content and is packed with the deliciousness of salmon. I enjoy it as ochazuke halfway through. The scallops are a must-have. They are so delicious to chew on and pair perfectly with sake. The "Sakura Salmon Roe" is also delicious, but it's a bit saltier compared to the "Salmon Roe", so I might pass on it. Anyway, you can't go wrong here. Another customer bought a lot of hokke and praised it highly, saying it sells out quickly and has a unique deliciousness that can't be found elsewhere. I might try buying it next time.

The review is the third emergency review of the Hokkaido earthquake. At 3:08 am on September 6th, I woke up to my nursing bed shaking due to the earthquake. The power went out about 20 minutes later. I managed to buy some food at a convenience store before the frozen items in my freezer started to melt. I decided to enjoy some seafood and meat using a gas stove. Luckily, I was able to get a popular item called "Assorted Sliced Seafood" which is usually hard to find. I also heated up some "Salmon Flake Pickled in Sake Lees" in a frying pan. The food was delicious and it was a good meal given the circumstances. My family's meals will consist of defrosting frozen food for a while. My mother, who is elderly, is currently in the hospital, which adds to my worries. Overall, the food was tasty and satisfying.

Tomorrow, if a big earthquake were to occur, what would I buy... After finishing my lessons, I headed to Mitsukoshi. I bought bread on the basement floor, so now I won't have to look for bread after tomorrow. Sato Suisan is right at the top of the escalator, selling salmon scraps!! It's been a while since I made salmon flakes, but I decided to buy something else this time. After looking around the booths, I chose: - Smoked cod milt for 362 yen. I thought it would be soft and sticky when I heard "milt," but it was actually firm, with a pepper and smoked aroma. - Mild Hot Smoked Saba (hot smoked) for 556 yen. It needs to be refrigerated, but you can eat it as it is. I tried grilling it a bit, and the smoked aroma was strong. There's a warning about small bones in bold letters, but there are indeed bones to be careful of. The saba meat wasn't dry, it was moist and made a delicious side dish with rice. I bought salmon scraps for 120 yen and made salmon flakes by grilling them. During the power outage, I had been eating from the freezer, but now I can enjoy fish dishes, making for a rich dinner. The rice cooked in a pot was delicious, even better than from a rice cooker. It felt like a luxurious meal. Thank you for the meal.

The Mitsukoshi store is conveniently located near the Daimon station, so I often stop by. Even though the management has merged with Marui, I actually prefer Marui and feel more familiar with it. Today, I took a stroll through the Mitsukoshi underground food floor, but didn't see anything that caught my eye, so I decided to visit Sato Suisan. While all the stores have similar lineups, I remembered that the "shio-koji" was running out, so I bought some. I also picked up some sliced salmon. I don't always eat the shio-koji here, but the flavor balance is really good, with a slightly strong saltiness. The sliced salmon is tasty, but feels a bit too salty. It would be nice if they included grated daikon. Sato Suisan may be better known for their dried fish.

The texture is firm and the taste is quite salty, making it suitable for tea rice or rice balls. Personally, I prefer fish with more fat, so I was satisfied after trying it once. However, it is popular every year, with 40% of the sales being reserved in advance. This year's sales are also limited, with only a few remaining. If you're interested, be sure to act quickly.

After the major renovation of Mitsukoshi Sapporo food department in September 2016, I was wandering around when I saw Sato Suisan cutting salted salmon at the storefront with a knife that seemed to be on its last legs. Oh, there are two bags of salmon heads for 120 yen each! I was about to grab them, but a stranger picked one up first. I quickly grabbed both bags and purchased them. The staff at Sato Suisan packed them carefully with ice packs. When I got home, I saw that the salmon heads were neatly cut, probably from a Russian salmon about 60cm long. I cooked them, flaked the meat, and made delicious salmon flakes. It was a good amount for a cheap price. Thank you for the meal!

The Russian sweet-salted fat adds a delicious flavor. Price: 2 slices for 514 yen (including 8% consumption tax). The North Pacific Wild Red Salmon has a great taste, especially the ones from Sato Suisan are of high quality. The Russian Senate recently passed a bill on June 24th to ban drift net fishing for salmon in Russia's exclusive economic zone starting from January 2016. Japanese fishing boats also operate in this zone, so if President Putin signs the bill, the ban will officially come into effect. This means that from next year, Japanese fishing boats will not be able to fish for salmon in the North Pacific. The salmon catch will drastically decrease, leading to a sharp increase in the price of "Red Salmon." While it's still affordable, I want to enjoy the taste of North Pacific Wild Red Salmon. ◆◆◆◆◆◆【2nd Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆Popular "Salmon Lübe Pickled"【January 2014】For the 2nd post, I tried Sato Suisan's "Salmon Lübe Pickled." This popular product is made from Hokkaido wild salmon and salmon roe pickled in a special soy sauce marinade. It has a slightly salty soy sauce flavor, perfect with rice or as a side dish with alcohol. There are several packaging options. Price: 220g for 1060 yen. The delicious taste of "Salmon Lübe Pickled" remains the same even though the prices of salmon and salmon roe have increased. The Hidaka factory, which was damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake, has been closed. The damage on the Pacific coast was severe. ◆◆◆◆◆◆【1st Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆Limited to Mitsukoshi, the "Salmon Kamaboko" has the high-quality taste typical of Sato Suisan【April 2012】Sato Suisan is a well-known seafood specialty store in Sapporo. They are known for their high quality and delicious taste, especially when it comes to salmon. The store is located in the basement of Mitsukoshi Sapporo, in the central district of Sapporo. Sato Suisan was established in 1948. Their "Sazanami Pickled Salmon" is also a popular hit product. The special koji used by Sato Suisan is said to be passed down through generations and is exclusive to them. Personally, I prefer the "Red Salmon Sazanami Pickled." Mitsukoshi Sapporo and the local long-established department store Marui Imai have merged to become Sapporo Marui Mitsukoshi, and to celebrate its first anniversary, they held an event at both department stores from April 3rd to 9th. During this event, they sold the Mitsukoshi-exclusive "Salmon Kamaboko." This kamaboko is full of salmon flavor. It can be enjoyed grilled or as is. When sliced, it reveals a subtle salmon pink color. Price: 660 yen for a pack of 3 pieces with the Marui Mitsukoshi seal. I would love to taste it again. Last year's earthquake caused 200 million yen in damage to Sato Suisan's Erimo factory, as reported in the news. I am concerned about their situation.
