Asahikawa city, Asahi 1-Compact, fourth stop on the drinking tour. A homely restaurant where they serve dishes like what your mother or grandmother would put on the table every day! They make a variety of dishes every day that are cheap, hearty, and delicious, making you smile. The cute onion-like character drawn on the menu and around the place adds a nice touch. It seems like the owner, a mom, drew it, and it adds a good taste with its various expressions. - Order: - Appetizer 300 - Side dishes 500 x 2 - Highball 500 x 2 The appetizer is a delicious simmered egg. Various side dishes are displayed in the showcase. I'm a little hesitant, but since I've eaten and drank quite a bit, I opt for the light option of red sausages, which surprisingly make a good snack. The girls at the next table seem to be confiding in the owner, perhaps regulars. It's a nice, quiet place to leisurely enjoy a drink. I decide to try the "Mother's Stew" with a refill of Highball. It's a simple simmered dish with plenty of root vegetables. The sweet and salty flavor seems perfect as a drinking snack or a side dish with rice. As I leave the restaurant, I can't help but think I should have tried the yakisoba, but I'm already looking forward to coming back the next day, a feeling I didn't anticipate at the time. Thank you for the meal. Thank you very much.

This is a visit before the declaration of a state of emergency and before the spread prevention measures. Currently, they operate with shortened hours until 8:00 pm without serving alcohol. They may also have days off, so please check when you visit. On this day, I had been drinking since noon, so I ordered a delicious Japanese sake... When I looked at the menu, I thought, "Ah..." and quickly ordered without my companion realizing the price haha. The sake I ordered was the "Yasen Junmai Ginjo Jar" for 1200 yen. It was so delicious! I couldn't help but say it was delicious right away haha. It had the fruity flavor that you would expect from Yasen. My friend ordered various dishes to share and even got some for takeout haha. For me, as long as I have this... I also ordered the "Kasube dried fish" for 550 yen. It was a delicious dish that I could keep eating while drinking. I like this type of dish better than the thin and sweet ones. It seems like the menu has changed! Maybe it's for infection prevention, but the drink menu is disposable and each person is assigned a spot on the table to place their drink. They even show you where to put it haha. I have recommended this place to many people and have revisited several times. Because it's so comfortable here! Now I'm thinking of using their takeout service for home drinking.

Asahiichi, who relocated to Tokyo, is now operating a restaurant on the first floor and an apparel shop on the second floor in Kuramae, Tokyo. The young owner is said to be active in Tokyo, but his mother opened this shop in Asahikawa. I used to visit the old Asahiichi occasionally, so it feels nostalgic to visit again. First, I started with a "Amber Ebisu" beer (500 yen). It has a rich malt flavor, smooth mouthfeel, and creamy foam, quite nice. The appetizer (300 yen) is a "boiled egg" with a creamy texture. The main snacks are the homemade "obanzai" displayed in the counter case. In addition to the items on display, the ones that are better cold are kept in the fridge. Each priced at 400 yen, there were 12 varieties available that day. The appetizer was also egg, but the tamagoyaki in front of me looked delicious! I ordered the "Tamagoyaki with pickled red ginger" (400 yen). It has plenty of pickled red ginger, making it a good accompaniment for sake. Shall we have some sake...? I asked for a dry one and let the owner choose for me. I got the "Tateyama River Junmai Daiginjo Refreshing Dry" (600 yen). The second snack is "Miso-marinated mackerel" (400 yen). When asked if I wanted it warmed up, I said yes. The homey miso-marinated mackerel is delicious when warm... The sake goes well too. What should I drink next for sake? I ended up choosing based on the label after a long time... (laughs) The label with the ukiyo-e style caught my eye... (laughs) I got the "Kinryu Junmai Namazake" (500 yen). It has a mellow umami flavor. The obanzai is so delicious, let's have one more dish! "Eggplant, cucumber, and myoga salad" (400 yen). This one was taken out of the fridge for me. A refreshing salad of summer vegetables. It's perfect for cold sake! They opened on May 31st during the state of emergency. They are also focusing on takeout to allow customers to enjoy the snacks at home. Those who have purchased once are coming back as repeat customers. It was nice to hear various stories about the old Asahiichi, it was quite nostalgic. Whether you used to go to Asahiichi or not, I recommend this "great restaurant" to everyone!

A restaurant called "Asahiichi" that used to be on Showa Street closed last year and relocated to Tokyo. While wandering around near Asahikawa Station, I happened to come across it again. Even though it seemed like nothing had changed, I couldn't resist and decided to go in. The staff kindly explained the menu to me. I ordered a Classic beer for 400 yen, which was creamy and delicious. The appetizer, boiled egg, was also tasty. I then tried a fruity and light sake called Sei Indigo Junmai Ginjo for 580 yen, which was very enjoyable. I chatted with the staff and ended up ordering a vegetable stir-fry for 400 yen, which was simple and delicious. The food and drinks were great, but the best part was the enjoyable conversation. The relocated Asahiichi is run by the mother of the original owner, so I highly recommend visiting. I will definitely go back again! The opening hours during the pandemic are around 3:00 PM, so be sure to check it out!

We enjoyed eating crispy chicken, sautéed chicken liver, and boiled egg at the restaurant. We also drank lemon sour and green tea mixed with matcha. We had a fun time chatting with mom while enjoying the food and drinks.

I checked out a new restaurant near Asahikawa Station, heading towards Sanroku. It seems to be the same as a place I've been to before, maybe relocated? The interior is mainly white with glass walls that provide a clear view inside. I hesitated to go in a few times because the counter seemed to be full. When I saw my usual spot was crowded, I wandered around the central area and decided to peek inside this empty restaurant. I said hello and ordered a classic and amber Ebisu beer, opting for the amber one. It came in a nice tumbler, just right for an old guy like me. As I drank, they served seasoned eggs as a snack, which went well with the beer. I chatted with the mama-san and ordered some appetizers, not fully convinced but still enjoyed them. I then ordered some fried minced pieces and mackerel miso. The mama-san seemed to be pleased that this time I could enjoy my own choice of drinks, unlike at the previous place where her son would interfere. The sake cups were a bit elegant for my taste, but I finished my drinks and moved on to the next one. I had a good time bantering with the regulars and mama-san, who skillfully managed the atmosphere. Despite feeling a bit hesitant about the bill, I had a pleasant experience and left feeling satisfied. It was fun, thank you for the meal!
