I was impressed by the quality of the tuna from Fujita and the great value of the omakase at EDOMAESS, a sister restaurant in Shinjuku Sanchome. This made me want to visit Tsukiji Aozora 3rd Generation, so I made a reservation. The timing seemed to be just right, but the reservations were quite full, with only availability for lunch on weekends a month later. It ended up being a bit of a wait, but it only added to the anticipation. The location near Tokyo Station is very convenient as well. The course was omakase only for 8,800 yen, starting with appetizers like cutlassfish, bonito, ankimo, and botan shrimp, all perfect with sake. I quickly finished my beer and moved on to sake. I saw a customer at the counter using beer as a chaser for their sake, and I totally understood the feeling. After leisurely enjoying the omakase for about an hour, we were served amazing nigiri sushi including tuna akami, chutoro, toro, white squid, shrimp, conger eel, Ishigaki clam, and sea bream. The abundant uni sushi was also delicious! I was also impressed by the nori used for hand rolls and gunkan-maki, with a great seaweed aroma and crisp texture. We had quite a bit of alcohol and were getting quite full, but we still wanted more of the delicious sushi after the course ended (seeing the chef making sushi made us want more). Many customers ended up ordering more too. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant, with both counter and table seating, makes it suitable for various occasions. The hospitality of the chef and staff was wonderful, and the reasonable prices for such high-quality sushi near Tokyo Station make it truly appealing. I definitely want to go back again.
