Before I knew it, "Kamado Ka Onyasai" had changed to "Shabu Shabu Onyasai". It's the same chain, but unfortunately, the rice cooker was gone. It was Sunday at 11:45 am. There were no previous customers, but there were 8 customers in 3 groups that came after us. My mother and I visited the restaurant. We were seated at a table for 4, facing each other. This restaurant used to be an izakaya, and I used to come here often in my 20s, so it feels nostalgic. The lunch all-you-can-eat options were around 2000 yen for 100 minutes with 2 choices, while the Shabu Shabu lunch had 6 options ranging from 990 to 1320 yen. We ordered the carefully selected beef and pork shabu-shabu lunch for 1100 yen each. It came with 3 types of namul, a vegetable platter, and a choice of rice or kishimen. Looking back, we should have ordered something different. One of us chose rice (medium size) and the other chose kishimen. We chose "Spicy Hot Pot Dashi" and "Soy Milk Dashi" for the shabu-shabu broth. The 3 types of namul were bean sprouts, carrots, and greens. Namul mixed with sesame oil goes well with rice. We each put a portion of vegetables in 2 different sauces. The soy milk broth boiled quickly, but it took time for the vegetables and meat to cook. We started with the kombu broth, which was fragrant, and the meat and vegetables were delicious. The soy milk broth, with ground sesame in sesame sauce, was thick and had a unique taste. After finishing the first portion of meat and vegetables, we added the second portion. Shabu-shabu was enjoyable, but we got a bit tired of it. For the finishing touch, we added the kishimen that had been sitting there shining, into the soy milk broth. It turned into a smooth and delicious dish. The noodles at the end are always a must. We ended up leaving some vegetables uneaten due to being full. Even without the all-you-can-eat option, the portion was satisfying. We spent 1 hour there and the total cost for 2 people was 2,200 yen. Full and satisfied!
