Visited in June 2023, had 3 glasses of draft beer (500 yen each), a Sapporo Classic Chippu (600 yen), an appetizer of thick-fried tofu with grated yam and grilled young corn (2 pieces) (600 yen), and salted hormone (550 yen). The total bill was 4,000 yen. Finished work early and went to the intermediary company. Then, completed the key handover and other preparations before moving tomorrow. Headed to Susukino, even though the move was not yet complete and I had to stay in a hotel. It was still early, so I decided to find a place to have a drink before going to the hotel. I had used up all the coupons yesterday, so today there were no restrictions. I plan to have the recommended ramen from Tokyo for the last meal. I won't come to Susukino at night very often once I move, so I wanted to explore a bit. Found a neon sign in a slightly old building off the main street and decided to check it out. The second-floor establishment seemed a bit hard to grasp the atmosphere, which I didn't like, but I decided to go up the stairs. When I entered and informed the female staff that I was alone, she seemed a bit surprised or suspicious. I greeted her cheerfully and sat at the counter where a woman was already seated. There was a raised area on the left and seats prepared for a party. The counter had radishes and towels placed on it, but everyone has their own way of taking it in, right? I ordered a Sapporo Classic draft beer. It was served in a slightly smaller glass but cost 500 yen. Since coming to Sapporo, I have started ordering Sapporo Classic draft beer more often. It's delicious and affordable (depending on the establishment). The appetizer served with the beer was thinly fried tofu with grated yam on top. It cost 400 yen, but it was nice that they put some thought into it rather than just serving something ordinary. The "Chippu" was presented with wasabi sprinkled on top. It had a refined sweetness, unlike salmon, which has a lot of fat. It might be because it's a freshwater fish? The man who joined the woman next to me was served something that looked really delicious. It seemed like he was a regular customer because it was served without him even ordering. I asked the staff what it was, and it turned out to be grilled young corn. I was intrigued and decided to try it. It was served with the skin on at one end and peeled at the other, with only the flesh remaining. I tried a bite with a drop of soy sauce, and it was amazing. I had never tasted anything like it before. I was impressed! Since I needed to save room for ramen, I decided to order one more dish, the salted hormone. When I ordered it, a hot plate and a Genghis Khan pot were brought out, which surprised me. The salted hormone was served on a plate with asparagus on the side. It was also amazing! I thought they would just stir-fry it in a pan like usual. When I go to the supermarket, I see packs of hormone meat being sold, almost as much as lamb, so it seems like there is a culture of eating hormone meat here. I wanted to drink more beer, but I finished with three glasses. I returned to the hotel after settling the bill. The owner said, "That will be 4,000 yen!" Well, it's fine. The grilled young corn was outstanding. The owner and the somewhat beautiful woman, who didn't seem to be his wife, were friendly. I could relax and enjoy drinks, and they served Hokkaido-style dishes. I think I found a nice place to enjoy in Hokkaido.
