Last week, I asked for a recommendation for a local cheese shop at the café Loop, and they introduced me to this place. I heard their soft serve ice cream is delicious, but I was too full from eating cake, so unfortunately I couldn't try it. I bought some cheese to take home, including spreadable cheese, mozzarella, and blue cheese. Last night, I made a caprese salad with mini tomatoes from my garden and the mozzarella. It was soft and milky, even though I drained it quite a bit, it was still creamy and had a gentle flavor. It was delicious. I'll save the blue cheese to enjoy after it ages a bit more.

I lived in Asahikawa for 6 years and although I knew there was a road leading to this place, I never visited because there was nothing there and nowhere to go. I was searching for soft serve ice cream and found this place! They have Milk Soft Serve for 350 yen. It is creamy and has a strong milk flavor, almost like tasting the feed. I'm praising this, it's delicious! I would have visited if it was around back in the day.

I stopped by here because I came to Hokkaido for work. The milk is so delicious!!! I've traveled abroad before and bought lots of delicious natural cheeses, but the 2-year aged cheese here is the best! It was so delicious that I was trembling!! In Japan, natural cheeses are scarce and even if you find them, they are often too expensive. So I usually buy foreign ones when I travel. 2-year aged natural cheese is really delicious, but it's rare to find domestic ones in Japan, and even if you do, they are too expensive to buy. There are plenty of them overseas, but I wish there were more Japanese natural cheeses available. The ones here are affordable and really tasty! I bought a vacuum-packed portion for only 560 yen (tax included). It's a size that can be finished eating because I can't take it home, which is great. I drank a lot of non-homogenized milk, but the one here is really cheap and delicious! A cup costs only 100 yen! It's as delicious as the famous non-homogenized milk! It's light and smooth, but has the richness and sweetness of milk or butter. If there was a milk shop like this nearby, I would want to come and buy! Going back to the cheese, even with vacuum packing, French imports can sometimes become hard, but the one here, despite being a hard type, is not that hard and has the delicate quality of Japanese cheese, showing how carefully it was nurtured. You need a car to get there, but if you ever go to Asahikawa, I recommend trying it!! I hope more cheese shops like this, with delicious and affordable cheese, will increase! There are really few natural cheeses in Japan, and they are expensive, but if they were cheaper like overseas, I'm sure there would be more demand.

The refreshing sweetness of the soft serve ice cream can be enjoyed in one go. They also sell milk in paper cups, which is delicious with its natural sweetness. Eating soft serve ice cream in nature was truly special.

I found this at the direct sales store "Asagao Kagura" in Asahikawa in May 2017. If it's "local milk", you can't help but buy it. However, here comes a "regrettable mistake". I accidentally bought "low-fat milk". I can't give it to the reviewer "kimumiyu" who drinks low-fat milk every day. Well, it's okay because it's "local milk". As expected, it's not the thick type like "cream" because it's low-fat. But since it's low-temperature pasteurized, it still has the sweetness of milk. I didn't know there was "local milk" in Asahikawa. Next time I go to buy lettuce, I'll make sure to buy "non-homogenized low-temperature pasteurized" milk.

When it comes to ranches in Hokkaido, in the Kamikawa region, places like Furano and Biei come to mind, but there are actually ranches in the mountainside (south side) of Asahikawa where they raise cows. As a big milk lover myself, I quickly checked out "Creamery Nomu MilkBar," which is probably the closest ranch to my home in Asahikawa. In non-homogenized milk, after a few days of bottling, a creamy butter-like substance floats on top, and "Creamery Nomu MilkBar" milk has this cream floating on top. Before modern industry developed, this creamy substance was skimmed off to make butter, and most of the delicious milk I've tried had this cream floating on top. In the past, you could even visit the inside of the cowshed, but now due to foot-and-mouth disease, it's not possible to see. The milk from "Creamery Nomu MilkBar" is used by a local ice cream shop in Asahikawa that takes pride in their products, and they also produce butter and cheese, which are really delicious and have no strong taste, making them one of my favorites. The owner's wife is really kind, and every time I visit, I feel happy. Asahikawa's milk may not be well-known, but after trying milk from all over Hokkaido, it's safe to say that the milk from "Creamery Nomu MilkBar" is of a high quality.

Next, I stopped by the Creamery Nomu MilkBar located in Kamiumbun, which is situated almost south of Asahikawa. Kamiumbun means "a place where wind and rain (blizzards) blow through" in Ainu language. It's a place right in the middle of nature where Creamery Nomu raises cows. They sell dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese, and ice cream made from the fresh milk of their cows at the MilkBar. They have a variety of cheeses that are not commonly found elsewhere, so I really wanted to buy some to take home. However, since I am leaving tomorrow, it might be a bit difficult to keep the cheese fresh, especially in August in Hokkaido. I brought ice packs just for this purpose, but the heat might ruin the cheese. So, I had to give up on buying cheese this time. Instead, I decided to try their fresh milk for 100 yen per cup, which was delicious and rich. Even though I could only enjoy the milk this time, I hope to come back and buy some cheese next time. Inside the Creamery Nomu MilkBar, there is also the Nono Hana Kashiya shop, where they sell pound cakes, cookies, puddings, and other sweets. I had a chat with the staff at Nono Hana Kashiya about the cheese, and it turns out they are also from Kansai like me. It felt quite surreal to talk to someone from Kansai in such a remote place in Hokkaido.

There is a dairy farmer in Uwa, who takes care of only six cows and produces original dairy products at the Creamery Nomu. I visited last week and tried their string cheese, Snowy Blue cheese, and pound cake. The Snowy Blue cheese has a surprising color and a unique taste, a combination of Camembert and blue cheese. The Frozen Yogurt is refreshing and perfect for enjoying on a bench outside. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the local atmosphere.
