【Completely Non-Smoking】Lawson, a major convenience store chain with a nationwide presence, has many factories and offices in Sapporo's Higashi Ward. Despite being located in an area with few dining options, it is a valuable convenience store. One of Lawson's charms is its ability to quickly adopt the good points of other companies and create unique stores, such as Lawson Store 100 focusing on 100 yen products and Natural Lawson catering to health-conscious individuals. Lawson also collaborates with different industries, such as the JP Lawson in-hospital store and Health Care Lawson combining a convenience store with a drugstore. In addition, Lawson collaborates with Ponta for a rare point card at Lawson Aruaru City store and has retro-themed stores like Lawson Kenritsu Geijutsu Daigaku-mae store. The location of this Lawson store is along Heiwa Street, near the bridge over Tsukisamu River, about 320 meters from the intersection with Hokkaido Highway, heading towards central Sapporo.
On October 24, 2022, around 12:30 PM, during my first visit, I noticed many people eating inside their cars in the parking lot, which seems to be a common sight here. On this day, I bought some snacks to accompany my beer: Nanakotsu-filled Tsukune Karaage-kun. The beer I chose was Ebisu Premium Meltzen, a limited edition craft beer with a refreshing and fruity taste. Despite being less pungent, the chicken in the Tsukune pairs well with the beer's flavor. The Tsukune with Nanakotsu adds a unique texture, and the Karaage-kun nuggets have a distinct chicken skin flavor, adding to their appeal.
It would be great if JR Hokkaido also transformed their station kiosks into Lawson stores, offering not only convenience store items but also local bento boxes. Lawson could consider using red brick walls for the exterior design (laughs).
